Lancaster PACozy, but too many rough edges

This "cottage" did not live up to expectations. With only a few minor improvements, it could have been so much better. The kitchen had no food storage space and an abundance of useless cups, bowls and containers (many missing lids) taking up valuable space, the dryer and hot water heater were not up to snuff, there was no icemaker or hammock (an advertised feature), and several light fixtures and the dining room table were in disrepair. There also were sticking doors and food wrappers left on the grounds. The living area was quite cozy, but the garage and a storage closet were locked, leaving no shelter for bicycles or other large valuables. It made me wonder whether the owners actual live here. The amenities were "good enough" rather than "good." Location was great, and the aC performed flawlessly. More attention to detail would have made this a better experience.

Overall our stay at the house was good. I have two complaints: the beds are not comfortable and an in-house internet connection should be provided.

We've been renting vacation cottages in the Outer Banks for about 20 years and I thought this house was generally comfortable and attactive. But the description of a "well-stocked kitchen" was not quite accurate. It was a rather small kitchen that was over-stocked with items that didn't work (an old coffee maker and 2 electric can openers) and the countertop was cluttered to the point it was a challenge to cook. The kitchen cabinets were such a jumbled mess that there was no place to store a box of cereal or can of coffee. We had to spend our first hour stacking bowls, etc so we could begin to use the kitchen. Also the map that the realty office provided with the location was a little inaccurate; the property was further back from the ocean than was indicated. It would have been more helpful to identify the distance to the beach access in the promotional materials. I was also surprised that we could not use the garage to park our car. Because these are important issues to us, knowing these facts would have impacted our choice of a rental property.
