We've rented this home several times over the years. It's a beautiful home for approximately 8 people. The home is well stocked with kitchen necessaries and four bedrooms. It only has two bathrooms and they are small so that should be taken into consideration. In fact, the bathrooms could definitely use some hooks and shelving above the toilets to hold personal items. The rental company insists that the upper floor bedroom houses a queen sized bed but that is simply not true. It is a full and not very comfortable. It also creaks something terrible. The furnishings are rather outdated and the carpet stained. We found many light fixtures with burned out bulbs and a kitchen chair broken. The sliding door to the screened in porch requires some real strength to open despite maintenance being called. No wonder the stains on the adjacent curtain. Guessing people are spilling coffee/drinks trying to open the door. The decking needs some work also. Screws sticking up and the crow's nest railing are in need of repair. We had to call for an umbrella in the pool area and were told that there had never been one there before. Well-there was. We've been there before. Apparently, the rental company called the owner and they agreed to purchase one and so on the third day of our trip, an umbrella was delivered. Also the a/C stopped working the day before we left. We love this home and have great memories from here. It is just worth noting that this home doesn't seem to be kept up as well as it used to be. I don't know if that is because it has different owners, the owners are otherwise occupied or they just don't care. We did love the pool, hot tub, location and kitchen. The hammock rocks. Perhaps a little more attention to detail would improve this home immensely. And please, please replace the uncomfortable and misrepresented "queen" bed on the upper floor. We were there the second week in Sep 13 and the weather was great. Ultimately loved this vacation.

The house is perfect. The main rooms have beautiful wood paneling. We caught fish off the Nags Head pier and were really thankful for the fish cleaning station near the roomy outside shower. The house is full of Tv's, books, videos, puzzles, and lighthouses! It's wonderful to be a short walk from the beach and from shopping. The Town Park with it's fabulous bay boardwalk begins off of our street. It's the 3rd year that we have gone crabbing off the town boardwalk crabbing dock with a string and chicken necks from Walmart and caught enough to feed 6 for dinner! The 4 kids (age 17-23) spent every evening in the hot tub and saw a meteor shower one night. It was wonderful to relax in the pool after a hot day on the beach. The traffic on Duck Road can be horrible in the summer but we can walk everywhere easily. We love having the shopping complex Scarborough Faire at the end of our street. I especially like the kitchen store and the book store. At the Save the Wild Horse store the lady made me a beautiful necklace in sterling silver and a piece of green sea glass I chose for $20. What a deal! It's nice having 2 living rooms, and the kitchen cupboards are huge. We can't wait for our next vacation there!
A quick September getaway is exactly what I needed.

G G and Nancy were wonderful in assisting me with reserving and check-in. The home had all of the amenities you would need maybe except internet access, but who needs that when there's so much to do. The beach was close enough for those late night walks. My family enjoyed the swing, hammock, pool, hot tub, the crows nest, and screened porch. Our only issue was that sometimes the hot tub's jets would not come on. Wouldn't mind staying again if the hot tub's issues are resolved.
A wonderful wet week!

We have been coming to the Outer Banks for 28 years and this was our first year at " Just For Fun" It was wonderful having linens already on the beds and the opportunity to have an early check in. The house was more then a house, it was a home away from home. Tastefully decorated with much character and love put into it. Having the pool and the hot tub were a plus. This home was just a 3 minute walk to the beach! What I enjoyed most was the crows nest. It was a perfect place to get away when a quiet time was needed, even in the rain. The ocean could be heard from it. What we liked least was having had a week of clouds and rain, and house was hard to brighten up with light. Other then that, we would rent this home again, rain or shine!

My family and I stayed for a week in Just for Fun. We were almost stopped by Hurricane Earl, but lucked out with beautiful weather all week. Just for Fun was perfect for my husband, daughter and my in-laws. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub every day. The beach is just a short walk away. We highly recommend driving the 20 miles into Corolla to enjoy the beach with Wild Horses. We were lucky enough to see one! Just for Fun is an older home, but was very clean. We thorughly enjoyed our week!

The house was very nicely furnished, the pool was wonderful, and we really enjoyed ourselves. However, Hurricane Earl ruined the week. But the house is great!!!

We love Just For Fun because of the salt water pool, that is the only reason we have rented 2 times there. The house is nice, but the upstairs air conditioning needs help. During the day, it was always hot about 77 degrees. At night, all the ceiling fans had to be running to stay cool upstairs.
This year, we also noticed bugs in the house. They were on the kitchen counters, bathroom floor and in the window sills of the windows in the sun room. Might want to have the house sprayed.
Nice home in a convenient location

This was a nice, clean home with most of what you would want in a beach getaway - pool, hot tub, short walk to the beach and/or shops, etc. Our 7, 6 and 4-year-olds had no problem making the 5 minute walk to the beach, as well as the 10-15 minute walk to the ice cream shop and Duck public park (although we drove because we didn't like walking on 12 at dusk). The location on a cul-de-sac is great for those with young kids (can ride their bikes in the circle). The pool was shallow enough for our 4 year old to stand in but also had a deep end for bigger folks. The homes floor plan was also perfect for those with kids or a large group - a TV room on the first floor near most of the bedrooms was a great location for the kids to hang out while the adults were in the upstairs area. The kitchen seemed well-stocked with cooking utensils and the charcoal grill was right next to the pool entry. The sunroom is a nice place to sit in the evenings, early morning, or during a rain shower. There isn't an ocean view but you are close enough to enjoy the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze from the crow's nest.
There are a few simple things the home could do to greatly improve the stay for young families. It would be nice if they would provide a beach cart or wagon to help families get their gear to the beach - many homes I saw in the area provide this. Also, it wouldn't hurt to update the baby items, such as the portable crib, which are outdated. A basic supply of beach and pool items would also cut down on the amount of items we had to purchase on our stay (just simple, cheap things like a couple kickboards, pool noodles, beach chairs, sand toys, etc.). The addition of those items would put this home in the highly recommended category.
What's not to like?

The house was well equipped and well taken care of. We loved having our own private pool. We really liked the location, walking distance to the beach plus walking distance to shops in Duck. This was the second time we stayed in this house so we obviously really like it.
Very nice place, close to the beach

Very nice house and the pool is great. Nice size rooms and well accessorized. Big positives were the proximity to the ocean, and the short walking distance to the town of Duck. Nice breezes through the covered deck and the hammock is in just the right place to take advantage of these breezes. Very reasonably priced for the location and amenities.
Negatives were the sheets that were provided were very wet and all had to be dried before they could be used.( not what you want to do after a 11 hour drive ) The house was also listed as non smoking but yet we could smell smoke immediately on our walk to the upper level. The screened in porch was used as a smoking lounge and not aired out. We had to use a bottle of Febreese and opened all the windows on the porch and leave them open to make it tolerable. ( Maintainence should have caught this.) Lastly we mentioned all these items in Resort Realty's survey at the end but never received any response from them.
