It is always a relief not to be disappointed in the house you choose without seeing it. This house met our needs. The only thing we would suggest is another frig. One is not enough for several families.
The service was fine. The location was good.
I liked working with Resort Realty, just wish they had more pet friendly homes in Duck in the mid price range. -

For the second year in a row, Swab the Duck home was the location of our annual family get-together. The house is built to keep families together but at the same time, it offers plenty of space for individual times alone. We played badmitton in the pool; gloried in the hot tub, and the short walk to the beach was a perfect way to get in shape for the swimming and hiking that we alwasys enjoy. Don't miss "swabbing this Duck" for it is a wonderful home away from home.

I chose this house because it was reasonably priced compared to other options for the time of year I rented. Six bedrooms sleep 14 people total. It's less than a ten minute walk down the street to public beach access. The parking area can hold at least seven cars. Lots of deck space. The kitchen is on a separate level from the living room area which is atypical in my experience and leaves no place for a lot of people to congregate. Only a couple of the bedrooms have a private bathroom. Bubble TVs abound.

Check in was quick and easy with Resort Realty. Sunday to Sunday rental was perfect!
The house was spotless and very comfortable. We all enjoyed the rec room and pool. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. But had to get our own wine glasses.
Location was a bit far from the ocean. On a hill. About 1/4 mile walk. But very easy walk to the sound and waterfront shopping.
Everything was in working order. I would highly reccomend this house and would stay here again. A beach cart would be a nice addition to this property -

This house had everything so much we had trouble finding time to walk down to the beach. A great location that offered everything anyone could ask for.

this is the 4th time we have rented this house and we always enjoyed it. Of course, the weather really helped out by being great this year!
a few issues that we had to deal with...
1. no wine glasses. we used the small coffee cups for wine..got a lot of laughs though
2. hot tub was unusable...too hot as the controller did not work. apparently the part was/is on order per the pool man that came out. we would had really enjoyed it at night if it was usuable.
3. 3 service calls due to the toilets on the middle level. this happened last year. owners need to really look into this problem.
suggestions:
1. a few places on the deck where there are benches that have a "big enough" opening in the corners that a small child or small dog could go through and fall...recommend some slats that would prevent this from happening.
2. recommend a gate that could be opened at the top of the deck stairs that go down to the ground level outside. would help with small children and dogs. we improvised from our previous visits by bringing a baby gate and securing it with rope so our 2 dogs could not go down these steps and escape. gave them some running room and allowed them to be outside more often by themselves.
3. need to fix light in stairs going from the middle floor to top floor.
other than the above, we highly recommend this house to anyone and hope to be able to rent it again in the upcoming years. -

This is our 21st year in Duck but the first time in Swab the Duck! As usual we stayed two weeks. The house was beautiful, well maintained, close proximity to the beach, sound & stores! We were spoiled having a pool & hot tub and will never again stay in a house without one! Our only concern was a loose filter cover which was fixed once but when they came to clean the pool mid week, the screws were removed again & never replaced! My nephew's foot slipped into the hole & he cut his big toe. Thank heaven he didn't break his ankle! The house was well equipped but a second refrigerator, instead of a second dishwasher, would have come in handy. We had to constantly buy ice to fill our coolers to keep our drinks cold. We had a fantastic time, treated the home like our own, and will definitely be back at Swab the Duck!

Great food, good times...what more can you ask for? Swab the Duck definitely served its purpose -- we spent alot of time in the game room & at the pool, we ate outside on the picnic tables and enjoyed watching TV in the 3rd floor family room. The week went by too fast (as it always does). Can't wait to come back next year!

All in all, the house was very comfortable and furnished nicely, well-stocked in the kitchen. Some areas need attention: sliding doors/screens are very hard to work and need to be replaced. Windows, altho new, are cheap and hard to lock. Almost all were unlocked when we arrived. Also, there are only 6 hangers, which is weird for a 6-bedroom house. The decks could use some furniture, too! There are only 2 picnic tables.

Lovely home and in an ideal location. We felt right at home - the house was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the full kitchen, decks, game room, pool and hot tub. We were walking distance to some shops and to the beach and a short cycle into the heart of the village. Overall we loved it and would come back again.

Loved the house the only problem is it is a pet friendly home and cat hair was everywhere. The service from Resort Realty was fantastic. We arrived before 4 p.m. and we were aloud in home early since it was cleaned. The location is great walk to stores and beach. Not crazy about the kitchen because the utensils, pots and pan, and bowls were just thrown everywhere. Difficult to find what you needed. Had to reorganize draws and cabinets so we could find things. The pool was clean and the hot tub. The AC was kicking perfect. Thanks for another great year Outer Banks.

Our extended family stayed at "Swab the Duck" in July. The service that we had in making the reservations, sending in the payments, checking in and checking out were simplified and easy to do. The home (3rd time staying there) was kept clean with no problems. Everything was enjoyable including the pool and hot tub. The location could not be any better, close to the check in site in Duck, a 10 min walk to the beach and to the sound. Close to shops and restaurants. We did enjoy the added benefit (that was included) of the linen. Everyone enjoyed the house, the rooms and the easy access to all. There was enough space for all of us, including the two small dogs who loved the decks and the wonderful of everything that passed in their sight on the road. I would include a small refrigerator on the bottom floor for sodas and water along with a broom to help clean up. But otherwise nothing else.

Relaxing experience in a nice setting. Being right in Duck with it's shops and restaurants, and an easy walk to the ocean makes this getaway place great. The home was clean, well furnished and comfortable. This was our fourth visit and we'll likely return again. Our dogs even recognize the place when we pull up.
One suggestion: Replace of fix the refrigerator. Telling a tenant not to turn up the cooling knob because it will freeze up just ain't right. I've never had that experience with any other refrigerator ever. It's been a problem during every visit and this time we lost our food that must be refrigerated, like ice cream. But still, we really like and recommend this place.
