      Clean and convenient

Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Just like it says you can walk to Duck. Convenient to the beach, shops, dining, and the sound. Great amenities including a bathroom for each bedroom, clean swimming pool and hot tub and a fully equipped kitchen. We certainly enjoyed our week at Walk to Duck.

      Lovely Home

Left on 06/22/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This home is well equipped, especially for older and/or handicapped persons. It is tastefully decorated throughout. It has 6 bedrooms each with its own bathroom plus an additional powder room. The layout of the house is spacious and open. The only downside of the house is the size of the TVs. In all rooms, the TVs were very small including the master living room.

Great - couldn't have been better

Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We had a great time - weather beautiful with only one misty day - but hey what a great day to shop. The house was excellent and we had a handicaped person so the elevator was such a help. The ocean was a little cool - but not enough so to keep the children out. We come to OBX every year and this was one of the best. Resort Realty makes it so easy to book and and to get into the house - couldn't ask for anything easier. Overall it was one of our best years.

I liked the location but wasn't 100% pleased with the house.

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011

I felt the house was not very clean. It needed a paint job & the living room furniture needed to be replace. The comforter on the king size bed had a hole in it. I could be nick picky but I won't. I just feel that when you spend the money we did for a vacation house, it should be in good condition and I don't feel that this house was.

      Wonderful home with great amenities

Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Walk to Duck is a vacation home where you can relax, spread out, and enjoy the home and the area. We found the elevator to be invaluable this year because one of the guests had broken her foot the day before we arrived. The home is large enough you can enjoy being with everyone or, if you want to be alone, there are plenty of places you can curl up and read a book.

Anita, the housekeeper, is a welcoming, friendly and thoroughly enjoyable person. She greets you with open arms, has the top floor ready when you arrive by noon so you can put all your groceries away and have a place to change to go to the pool or beach. Anita is fastidious, the house is sparkling. Anita's sparkling personality and sparkling house starts your vacation on a pleasant note.

      2011 OBX Family Vacation

Left on 06/26/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation at this house, however, we did have several issues:
      1. I received the wrong check-in instructions for this property. As a result, we were delayed getting into the house by 1 hour 15 minutes. Had to wait for Frances to meet us at the Duck office for assistance.
      2. The rocking chair on the top porch was broken.
      3. Living room furniture and carpet was covered with dog hair from the prior renters.
      4. Dvd players are not set up to work properly; remotes not functioning.
      5. Bathroom sink drain in the 2nd fl master and the upstairs master double sink do not close.
      6. White plastic chairs by the pool have cracked backs.
      7. Wooden gate to the pool does not latch properly.
      8. Called in to report a problem with the air conditioner on Wed. but fixed itself.

      Meets Needs

Left on 01/13/2011 for a stay in December 2010

I felt the house met my needs for my visit. The location was great, and would be even better in the summer.
The accutourments were adequate. The tvs were sad, as were the dvds... An upgrade here might be in order.
The furnishings were adequate; I have been in far better equipped homes.
The coffee was a nice touch; I would have preferred the roll of pt and a small dispenser of soap...( which some houses provide)
Lots of trash cans- a real plus...so many houses don't have enough.

      Cover the Pool...
I have rented before so i did bring all I needed...if not, i would have had an issue...as I arrived on Christmas day.

The house was beautiful, but handicap accessible not so much.

Left on 10/06/2010 for a stay in September 2010

The house was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked. Everything was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The pool was a nice size and the hot tub was excellent on cool nights. Loved having Tv's in every room and especially in the kitchen. Everything was excellent except that we were traveling with a quadraplegic and we rented this house because it was listed as handicap accessible. And although the house had an elevator which worked great, we had a very hard time getting our friend in the wheelchair in and out of the house. The entrance door on the first floor only had 29 inches of clearance and opens to the staircase and a wall, so we had to remove both the leg rests and arm of the wheelchair and then it took two people to get him in the door, around the tight corner and down the hall. This was very frustrating and he was not able to get in and out of the house on his own and it took about 20 min to get him in and out of the house any time we had to go someplace. This was not only frustrating to us but very disappointing to him as he felt like a burden when he wanted to go along with us to go sightseeing or even to dinner. He was using a standard size motorized wheelchair and it should not have been this difficult to get him in and out of the house. If there had been an emergency while there getting him out would have been difficult and he could not get out of the house on his own. As I said the house as a whole was wonderful, but in the furture should not be advertised as wheelchair accessible as it is surely not.

Vacation in Walk to Duck House

Left on 09/16/2010 for a stay in September 2010

The house was well equipped. The house was well maintained and the rental company was very responsive to requests for repairs.
The house is light and bright and extremely clean and easy to keep clean. The pool was well maintained and extremely clean. It is easy to walk to Duck from the house.
It would be helpful- if there were some chairs in the bedrooms. It would also be helpful if there was a wagon, or beach cart to transport chairs and sand toys to the beach.
A packet of information about the house in a visible place would have been very helpful.
It would also be helpful if the rental company would maintain a hurricane update link on their web site, so that people can plan accordingly

Beautiful Home, Great Location, Best of Times

Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Overall, our trip comprised of extended family including 12 adults, 5 kids, and a dog, all of whom were easily accommodated in this home. This was the first trip to the Outer Banks for all of us, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The home was absolutely beautiful, and functional to boot. The elevator allowed easy travel for a disabled family member, although the ground floor entrance was a little tight for a wheelchair. However, a couple of bedrooms were handicap friendly with wider door frames and low-step showers, but bars in the bathroom would have helped tremendously. Regardless, the house was accessible to all which was a huge benefit. The private pool and hot tub both were in excellent condition and loved by all. The house itself was very comfortable and spacious, including the bedrooms, although the mattresses varied in comfort. Linens and towels were included, a benefit you couldn't appreciate more. Most importantly, the early check-in time allowed us to arrive well before traffic picked up on Saturday, and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze. Also, the home was fully stocked with kitchen utensils and other useful material. The house was situated on a lovely block in Duck, only a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. If you have kids, you'd likely want to be a little closer to the beach to lug all of your gear, but we certainly didn't mind the walk even with a 7 month old, especially since you don't have to cross any other roads. The town of Duck was very quaint and family friendly, and this block was right in the middle of that fun. Shops, eateries, and attractions were all within reasonable walking (and driving) distance adding convenience to the beautiful landscape. My family really lucked out for our first OBX experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to rent this home again in the future. If you haven't been to OBX, we highly suggest you check it out. If you have, then we certainly would recommend this home to others.

Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This was one of our best experiences in the Outer Banks. The house was wonderful and early check in rocked. We beat (some) of the traffic and were unpacked and on the beach by 3 pm. Easy to walk to Duck. A little far too walk to the beach but there was lots of parking down by the clubhouse.

      nice vacation

Left on 08/18/2009 for a stay in July 2009

The home had a wonderful family atmosphere. It was equipped with everything you could imagine. The only issue was a broken pool ladder when we arrived, a frozen AC while we were there and a broken key box. The resort realty maintenance folks came in a jiffy and fixed these issues. We had to purchase a new propane tank for the grill. It did not work as all when we first tried the grill on the 3rd day. I would stay at this location again and recommend it to others.
