My children, their children and myself had a great time during our stay. There was plenty of room, plenty of outside space and diversions to keep us buy. Access to the beach was very easy as well. We hope to repeat next summer. I'll have to be a little more careful about my speed in I-64 however.

The home was beautiful and large enough to accomodate everyone. It was just the right distance from the beach and there were beautiful views of the ocean from the top floor. The weather cooperated and was very warm. We love houses that let us take our dog along because we do not go anywhere without her. The house appeared to be basicly clean but there were several dishes that had been put away dirty and that made us wash most things again before we used them. There were plenty of towels and it was very nice to have the beds made when we go there. Our only major complaint was on check in. We had rented a house with keyless entry for the first time and were most upset when our late arrival check-in packet was not at Southern Shores office. Supposedly we were to have received the key code in an e-mail before we left, but we did not. We had a moment of panic thinking that we would not have a place to sleep that night, we finally found an emergency number and a very nice and helpful man came out and opened the door for us. He returned our call quickly and came to the house within twenty minutes. The rest of the week was very enjoyable.

We enjoyed our stay as we always do at OBX but this home is very tired and in need of some improvement.
The beds were worse than a motel 6 should have been replaced years ago or need better quality.
The rec room in the basement had air hockey and bumper pool and we couldn;t use either. Air hockey couldn;t keep the puck moving and bumper pool every time you sunk a ball you had to make sure to move your feet because there were no bottoms to the pockets.
The televisions had alot to be desired old and had very bad color.

We recently spent a week at the house and overall it is a great house however we were disappointed by a few things. The ad for the house does not state that there is a limit on the pool temperature even if you pay the pool heating fee. We go out of season and the air temperature is often cool and with luke warm pool water, it seemed even colder out. Also the pool area drastically needs up keep. There were weeds and leaves from the Fall that had not been cleaned up yet that took away from the house's greatness. Despite those two things, the house is in a great location in Duck and only a few feet from the ocean. If you're not a pool person, this house is perfect.

The house had several maintenence issues, some of which were addresses by Southern Shores, and some were not reported. the house was tired, bathrooms extremely small, kitchen so-so and TV small. Location is very good with views of the ocean and a short walk. Volleyball court is nice but there must be a hundred lost balls in the adjacent thicket, which shortened our playing time. Pool and hot tub were fine. Beach chairs very bad shape, three of them broke during our week through no abnormal use or overweight guests, just very tired equipment.

House was not exactly clean when we arrived. Closets were full of junk and we hardly had enough room to put our things in them. There were extra comforters and blankets just thrown on the floors of the closets and there was old candles and silk flowers and pictures, etc. shoved in every closet of the house. The floors were obvioulsy not swept (there were peanut shells under the chairs) and the king sized bed smelled like dirty feet and we had to wash all of the bedding. The play area for the kids is in the weeds and looks in need of repair. We found a rat in the pool and the pool was never cleaned the whole week we stayed there. The refridgerator downstairs leaked and even though we reported it, it was not fixed. We stayed in Myrtle Beach last year and rented a house and it was not only spotless but the pool was cleaned and new chemicals put in it every morning. When we had a problem with the smoke alarm going off one morning, the owner was right there right away. A totally different experience then we had in the Outer Banks.
