Just a short 200 yd.walk to the ocean from this property. Fox and deer love this area as you can see by the photo's. You get a good view of the ocean from the 2nd floor master suite. Myself, coming from the home building trade, we feel the home is dated and is need of some upgrading and TLC. But this is our 3rd year renting this property and we'll be back next year also. The hot tub is great !!!
The place offers alot of room

When we arrived we found the place very roomy and clean. We stayed at the rental from Sun to Sat. A couple of concerns though was a stong smell of cat urine like maybe a past renter had their cat there. The smell was in the main level(livingroom/kitchen area). I smelled it everytime I entered that area. Another concern we had was that the rental included a hot tub spa, but the water was only warm, not hot (controls don't work). My last concern was there was no outside lighting that we found for the front entrance. I'm surprised that a motion light is not installed(could be dangerous for people walking to and from the front door). We packed the nite before we were leaving and had to use a flashlight to navigate to and around the car. Read more
We are sorry that you experienced these issues during your stay. Had you reported them to us at the office we would have been able to arrange for them to be addressed while you were here. All of these issues are currently being taken care of. Thank you.

Storm Watch Review

Nice area and beautiful weekend, however, there were quite a few issues with the home that need to be brought to someone's attention.
1. Upstairs shower has very, very little water pressure.
2. Second Level hall bath sink and toilet have plumbing isses (constant draining and flushing issues).
3. Second Level master bedroom bath shower has extremely slow draining issues.
Also, I rented this home because of the outside sauna, however, it was shut down. No problem there provided I had been informed.
In all, an older and nice home but the plumbing issues were enough to not want to rent again or recommend to anyone.
Fun in dirty sheets and backed up sewage!

The family vacation started with a 14 hour car ride and upon arrival of the home we were welcomed by the dirty linens and a strange smell. A spit shine clean at best included a blood soaked band-aid and sheet. Wonderful! But that's not all, a few uses of the plumbing quickly surfaced a serious issue with the septic system. The toilets would not flush and sewage backed up into the tub. Super! Day 1, off to a wonderful start. Informed rental office of serious issues of a home that is not habitable. No one even bothered to check into anything until Friday (Sun-Sun rental). Pumped the septic but only worked for a couple flushes, the system is compromised. Even the staff agreed our family should have been moved to another rental. Unbelievable, 12th and worst rental that we have had at OBX in the last 10 years. We filed a complaint but we feel it's falling on deaf ears. Follow up phone calls to make sure we're doing what we can do ends with no verification that they acknowledge any issue or the filed complaint.
This company puts themselves first, has a bare minimum and "not my problem" mindset. Avoid!

Good design but a little worn

This cottage is a lovely design and perfect for the family with a mother-in-law...like mine. It has a bottom floor master suite. The middle floor has the kids' rooms and the top floor has a master suite with a view. My only issue is that the house is a little worn. I had a LOT of mold in the bathrooms, the counters are stained and pitted, the dressers are flimsy and the pots and pans are a mess. On the plus side the couches and beds are very comfortable (except the bunk beds) and you have enough furniture for a comfortable stay for 5 or 6 folks. More that that would be a stretch for living room seating.

I enjoyed my stay at Storm Watch and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to experience the Outer Banks. The place was walking distance to the beach with easy access. I liked the short driving/walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Duck.
the house had everything that I needed from the many bedrooms and bathrooms to the hottub on the deck.

A very enjoyable and cozy home. Nice degree of privacy due to greenery. Short walk to beach. Clean and well equipped. Really just very nice.

House was very clean when we first arrived.
House was as described on SS website.
Nice , short walk to quite beach. This was most important to us and we were not disappointed.
Kitchen was well equiped.
Nice size deck area, but wood is a bit splintery.
Kids likes the large screen TV in the great room. Great for movie night as they brough DVD's.
Keyless entry is nice feature.
We'd stay at Storm Watch again.
Shower head pipe in upper master bedroom was loose and moves in and out of the wall.
All showers had low water pressure.
Hot tub temp did not get very hot and jets and not very forcefull
Great home, but...

The house was beautiful and in a great location. I was really impressed by the electronics provided- there was a flat screen TV and a high quality DVD player, as well as a really nice stereo. My only complaint is that the hot tub didn't seem to be working when I was there. It was on and said that it was heating, but the water stayed cool throughout our entire stay. I called the rental company and they promised to send someone, but either no one came or they came when we weren't there and weren't able to fix it. Other than that, everything was great.

We stayed at this house the first week of June 2009. The six of us consisted of two married couples and two single sisters.
There was more than enough room to suit our needs.
There are 3 levels to the house. The lowest floor has a king size bed with a private shower/bath. This room has a tv.
The Main floor has a bedroom at the end of the hall which has 2 queen beds and a private shower/bath.
There is another bedroom with two sets of bunks. Next to this bedroom is a bathroom with a stall shower.
Upstairs, there is a very large room with a king-size bed. There is a large sitting area with a table and chairs set up next to the sliding glass doors which open up to a small deck with two chairs and a table outside. You can see the ocean from this vantage point, although you are looking over rooftops.
We watched the sunrise from this deck every morning. Gorgeous!
the room has a small private bath with an extra sink outside, in a dressing area which has a long counter. There is a very large closet, complete with rod and hangers, where you can stash a lot of stuff. This room also has a tv.
The Main living room is open and spacious. The dining table has two long benches for sitting, and could easily accomodate 8 to 10 people.
The house was immaculate inside and very private outside. There was a problem with the hot tub, but it was fixed by Thursday, so patrons over the summer will have the luxury of soaking in it.
The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, bowls, mixer, blender, etc.
There is a large flat panel tv, and DVD player in the large living room, as well as wireless internet.
The connection speed was very slow, but we weren't there to spend time on the web.
The distance to the beach is an easy walk.
We loved the keyless entry because we didn't need to hunt down keys when one of us wanted to return to the house.
The linens were fresh, and the towels were plush. This is, by far, one of the nicest beach rentals that we've stayed at.

This is a wonderful house just around the bend from the beach. It is big enough to house multiple families, but not so big you don't see each other. The development has rolling dunes and plenty of space between houses. I stayed in this house when it was a month old with my parents, and now enjoy bringing my own family and friends to this great getaway. It has been recently renovated with new furniture and carpets. The owners and rental company are doing a quality job of making sure your stay is pleasant and problem free. 2008 was the first year we stayed for 2 weeks and it was worth it. There was no rush to see sites or do activities.
There are only 2 issues I had with the property. The hot tub could use some attention or updating and the septic backed up into the lower bathroom and bedroom where we had friends staying for their first time to the Outer Banks. The rental agency, when called, was right on the job of unclogging the septic and then getting it pumped out.
Overall a great place to relax and let the world go by and forget your troubles.

The house was great for our family of 8 which included our two grandchildren. There are three floors of private sleeping arrangements and plenty of bathrooms. There are lots of beach chairs, toys and bikes. A short walk to the beach. Unfortunately during the first three days of our stay, there were no steps to the beach as the hurricane the week before had washed them out. But they were soon replaced by local contractors. Our family highly recommends vacationing at the Outer Banks in September/October.

We have stayed in Duck several times in the past. We prefer Duck as a general location. This particular property had a lot of space. We had 6 adults, and no one felt crowded. The house is a very short walk to the beach through a quiet street. My only complaints would be- no gas grill. Trash had not been picked up or taken to the curb when we arrived

fine house for a couple, not a family

We chose this house because of location. We were taking a long weekend for just the 2 of us. The house was fine for us but when summer friends told us their whole family would be staying there, we knew they would not be happy. There is not enough room to spread out in the house. The master bath upstairs had no window covering.
A great getaway

Comfortable Home in a Wonderful Location
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in September 2008 | L&T from CT
We spent a wonderful week in this comfortable home in Duck. The location was superb - just a short walk to the beach, in a quiet two street area located just past the Duck town center - no traffic to navigate. Layout of the home was super for us. Home itself was a bit dated - the bathrooms and kitchen could use some sprucing. Kitchen was well equipped with pots, dishes, etc. Overall a great place that we would rent again when we return to the OBX.
