We have rented the Lucky Duck for many years and every year we feel more like it is our home away home. We love having three refrigerators, two ovens, two dishwashers and the elevator. They all get used during our stay. We appreciate the updates made over the past few years. Although, we do keep hoping for a bigger pool. It gets pretty crowded when the whole family wants in the pool. Had only one maintenance call during our stay and the response time and fix were immediate. The one main issue we had during our stay was the WiFi connectivity, not very reliable. But overall, we love this house and hope to keep renting it for years to come.

Had a few problems but all were taken care of immediately. Only downside was the sporatic Wifi. House sleeps 18 so you have to plan of several people working on line at the same time. Easy access to beach. Good parking.

We had a wonderful stay in Duck NC. this was the second
time I have stayed at "Lucky Duck", the first time was 9
years ago, also in April. The home is still beautiful, well
furnished and beautifully decorated. The location is great,
just a few houses from the beach as well as the community
pool. Speaking of the pool... I would have to say this will
be the only reason we will not rent Lucky Duck in April
again. The pool was not open, and when we inquired as to
contacting the owner about opening it we were told no
because there were unrented weeks after us. The web
page shows an open pool with no indication that it was not
open until May. It was in the contract's fine print, but was
overlooked by us. The owner happened to call the house re:
a furniture delivery and one of the women staying with us
spoke about the pool. The next day a pool co. was at the
house, opened it, did some repairs and explained that the
pool was not swimmable.. so now, we have an open,
unswimmable pool with 10 kids very disappointed.
The only other thing that was not satisfactory was that the
top of all bunk beds were unmade... kind of a pain with
sleeping kids waiting for a bed...
Overall, we loved Duck and Duck Landing Lane but will
likely look else wear as far as a rental agency next year.
Apparently there are agencys that have all their rental's
pools open mid April and many are heated!

We got "booted" from our last house and thought we would never find a better one. We were wrong! Though older, this is a great house. Bigger so we could have more family. Great location in a "neighborhood" close to ocean, community center, and shopping.
Great kitchen with two refrigerators and two dishwashers....much needed! Missing a few tools which we bought and left behind in hopes they will still be there next year! High chair was great, but would love a pack and play and baby gates on site!
Only negative was no DVD's for big screen TV! We'll bring our own next year!

Lucky Duck was an awesome house with lots of amenities. We used the pool, hot tub, pool table, ping pong table, and the horseshoe pits. It is located within a very short walk to the beach and has a small ocean view. The double refrigerators and double dishwashers along with the numerous stove burners made the culinary experience in the kitchen very pleasant. Our only negative was the televisions on the second floor which did not work properly and tended to have a buzzing sound to them. Overall, though I would highly recommend this beach house and will definitely make plans to stay there again.

This home had plenty of space, comfortable furniture, and all the ammenities. The three refrigerators and two dishwashers were great when you have a large group. This house was also close to the beach. The pool, we all felt, was small for the size of the house and the amount of people who would be using it. Also, even though Duck Village was at the other end of the street...it was quite a long walk to get there. Overall, the house was clean, comfortable, and a good rental.

We just had another great vacation at the Lucky Duck. This house suits our family needs beautifully. Great spaces for quiet moments, rooms for gathering and the pool is great for cooling off and having fun. We hope to return for many more years.

This is an impeccably decorated home, with high quality furnishings, and kitchen equipment. The pool and hot tub were relaxing luxuries, that were included in a child safe environment. Walking distance to everything, ocean, shops, restaurants, and club house. The only critique we could make, is that you need more than a week to figure out the elaborate blue ray, surround sound big screen television system.

Nice house, good location, hot tub a plus. The house was clean and spacious.
One of the few drawbacks were that the house did not have a few bikes (even older clunkers to knock around on) for the kids. I would have loved an kayak to use right across the street at the public ramp.

Cleaning crew did not finish until 4:45 PM on check-in day, but the house was clean. BBQ grill would not cook the entire surface area due to a worn out burner, so we had to rent a grill from a local supplier ($75).

This is our second time staying at this home. We take a large group of about five families all with young children. The location is wonderful for getting them to the beach and back. Plus, it is very close to the club house with the indoor pool, so weather isn't an issue in the spring. The kids can swim to their hearts content. The house has ample bedrooms, bathrooms, and a wonderful kitchen with every utensil and cooking supplies a large group needs. The guys love the pool table downstairs. They even have a wonderful library of books and videos. We love staying in Duck walking the bike trail, etc. Can't beat this home!

Our family loved Lucky Duck. The home is located in a great location, close to the beach, recreation center and shopping centers. The house had practically everything we need for the week. We loved the variety of dishes and cookware. One of the reasons we didn't rent it again in 2008 is because we need a few more bedrooms, therefore, we had to look outside of the Duck area and ended up renting a 10 bedroom house in Whalehead Beach in Corolla during Thanksgiving 2008.
The property was in immaculate condition and it was great renting through Southern Shores Realty.

We had a great family gathering at this house. The elevator was a great help with all the stuff we bring for vacation. The house was very nice and had plenty of room, the beach was close and the indoor pool was only steps away. We had lots of family members of all ages and everyone loved it. The only problem we had was the lawn was full of those sticky thissels that we could not walk in it in order to get to the pool or hot tub. Our whole family agrees that there will never be a more special vacation than the Lucky Duck!
