When Dan and Mardee Kauffman were searching for a name for their bed and breakfast they considered many possibilites. For months possible names were discussed with family and friends. Most of the ideas fell flat. In the meantime, the Kauffmans were asked by interested local people to describe which old home they had purchased in historic Ducktown. When Mardee and Dan gave directions, the inquirers would respond...without exception..."Oh, we know...the white house on the corner of Main Street and Vine."

The White House Bed & Breakfast and the town of Ducktown are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Ducktown is located in the Copper Basin/Ocoee River region of the Southern Appalachian Mountains 2 hours north of Atlanta, 1-1/2 hours east of Chattanooga, 2-1/2 hours south of Knoxville and 2-1/2 hours southwest of Asheville. The 1996 Summer Olympic Whitewater Events were held on the nearby Ocoee River.

Chillhoee Room is $85, Hiwassee Room is $89, Ocoee Room is $94 all rates are for two persons for one person dedcuct $5, for additional person add $15. Sales and lodging taxes are added to rates.
Visa, MC and Discover cards are honored, cash and check. as well. Cancellation without penalty is 3 days November thru April. May thru October cancellation without penalty is one week. A credit card is required to hold reservation.

My husband and I have stayed at the White House many times in the past few years. Dan and Mardee are wonderful people and special friends. They are both heavily involved in their community and know all the places to go and all the people to ask for any information. They are fountains of knowledge about the Ocoee River, Copperhill, the appalachian Trail, etc. Dan and Mardee are great cooks too. Their food is fabulous, and our table conversations enlightening. We always have a terrific time and love going to the White House.

We arrived embarassingly late and Dan and Mardee were very gracious and accomodating. Our group of three only stayed one night - wished we had more time to visit there. Great location that is convenient to many GSM attractions. Dan and Mardee are not only consumate professionals in the B&B; business but two of the most delightful people you could hope to meet.

I periodically travel between Florida and Indiana and when I drive I always stay at this charming place. The service is wonderful, the food outstanding, and the owners, Dan and Mardee Kaufman, are amazing, genial hosts. They are an unofficial "Chamber of Commerce" for Ducktown and know the history of the area and all of the recreational activities available. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
