Thunder Bay, Canadacomfort, and everything we wanted
Left on 01/18/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Jane's beautiful suite was just what we needed. A comfortable place to call home for a few days, walking distance to Duncan and all of the great shopping there. A good bed with feather pillows and duvet, beautiful cotton linens. A well appointed kitchen with pots and utensils for the gourmets that we think that we are! Laundry facilities for the traveller who wants those favourite jeans clean!
Thank you Jane. We will return.Response from Jane Bailey - 01/23/2013

Coombs, CanadaPerfect wedding night getaway!

Being among the first guests to this lovely B&B;, we were very fortunate to be able to book last minute in the middle of summer for our wedding night. I'm sure this place will thrive! Jane is so nice and accomodating. All of our wishes were met and at the same time we felt completely secluded and private.
Breakfast ingredients are generously provided, to be enjoyed on your own schedule. The shower, bed, appliances and hot tub are all excellent. The setting is very close to downtown Duncan but the back yard (where the hot tub is) feels like you are in the woods. The Cowichan River is close by for swimming or hiking. We weren't there as tourists but we would definitely recommend the location as a sightseeing hub.
We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely go back to alegria.Response from Jane Bailey - 11/30/2012

We had a wonderful stay at alegria. Jane was a very friendly and informative host. Right when we knocked on their door, we felt welcomed.
This is a garden suite with separate entrance. It maybe small but we found it to be perfect for two people. The place was spotless when we got there and the fridge was full of well-thought-out breakfast food. It was awesome! We felt very comfortable and at home.
The kitchen was great and provided with everything you'd need for cooking (except for a really sharp cutting knife [but I'm sure you could knock on Jane's door and ask for one]). The appliances seemed new: stove, oven, microwave, coffe maker, and diswasher.I regret not cooking much while we were there. We requested breakfast for our 2 night stay and in the fridge were: blueberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe; yougurt; english muffins; croissants ; eggs; a jug of milk; cream; syrup; and butter. They also provided buns, pancake mix, granola, and cereal. In addition, there's also coffee and an assortment of tea. So really, there was more than enough food for 2 breakfast meals but it was great to have a choice.
The hot tub was fun too. It was a good way to wind down after wine tasting and exploring the town.
Location wise, the suite is away enough from the city centre to avoid the noise but close enough to walk there and enjoy downtown for a day. Things to do can range from wine tasting, to taking a train ride at the BC Conservatory, to visiting a water buffalo farm, Fairburn, etc.
This was a great homebase for Duncan and Cowichan Valley. I would highly recommend alegria and if I ever find myself in the area, I would definitely stay with them again.Response from Jane Bailey - 09/14/2012

My husband and I had planned to attend an event in Duncan, BC. We had already "Booked" our hotel when I had stumbled upon alegria Suites through a third party website. I wasn't sure what the cost of the suite was or even if it was available. I had contacted the proprietor who in turn let us know that it was available for the time we wanted it for and at an extremely nice rate. She had even contacted us by phone to confirm the dates.
When we arrived, we were blown away. The suite was gorgeous. It was fully stocked with fresh linens, dishes, flowers and a variety of breakfast goods in the refrigerator. The suite was brand new and tastefully decorated. The area is serene and the yard was very private. Because of the event that we attended, the proprietor made a game for us to enjoy as her "Welcome" gift to us. She is a lovely woman who takes pride in making others feel at home.
We would definitely reserve this suite again should we end up in Duncan again and we do recommend this suite to anyone who wants "A Home away From Home"Response from Jane Bailey - 11/30/2012

We had an excellent time at alegria! Jane was very welcoming and prepared the suite with a fine attention to detail. The suite is beautifully renovated: brand new appliances, fixtures, access to laundry, and very clean.
We enjoyed a continental breakfast of pastries, muffins, eggs, english muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and a large assortment of teas.
The bay window and outdoor sitting area are great places to relax and read and we enjoyed the use of the hot tub after a long day of cycling to the local wineries!
A great place to get engaged! Thank you Jane!Response from Jane Bailey - 11/30/2012
