The Yellow Shell Cottage is a genuine Irish cottage which offers oil fired central heating, 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 people, two bathrooms, a fine kitchen with all the modern conveniences, and tiled sitting room. The original doors and wooden floors give the bedrooms a lovely warm feel.

the cottage is in the village of ballinroad, exactly one mile from the wonderful beach in Clonea and just a few minutes from 2 eighteen hole Golf courses, the cottage is detached , private sun patio, safe enclosed garden and private parking, we are 2 miles from the beautiful harbour town of dungarvan, with its lovely castle and ample restaurants.

Yellow Shell Cottage was just perfect for what we needed for a family break over Easter: spacious and yet cosy; well thought out and catered for. Really good garden space for many ganes of football for the boys! Close to Clonea for walks - the Gold Coast for swims and within easy reach of Dungarven and local shops. Carol and Ray were most attentive, as needed. We felt warmly welcomed and looked after: but with our own space. We will definately be back!

Myself, my husband and our two young kids stayed here the week before Easter. Despite one of the coldest spells on record we received the warmest welcome you could imagine. Carol the owner had decoratetd the whole cottage for Easter which our three year old was delighted with. There were fresh scones with home-made jam waiting for us when we arrived which were delicious! The cottage itself is well equipped with everything you need to make yourself at home. It's got a lovely homely feel and it was a very comfortable place to be when we couldn't get out on a bad day. The garden is great, plenty of space for the kids to play and nice and private.
The beach is exactly a mile away, Dungarvan is a short drive and has plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs. It's a great base for exploring the south coast of Ireland. I would highly recommend Yellow Shell Cottage. We're already planning our return trip!Response from Carol - 04/12/2013

The cottage was lovely and homely. The owners Carol and Ray were very welcoming and helpful. It is a very quiet spot with gorgeous gardens. We didn't have small children but it is an excellent cottage with little ones, a safe and secure garden. We had elderly members of our family and ground floor accommodation is ideal. It is perfectly situated to visit Dungarvan or to Clonea strand. There are many beautiful places within a short drive. We would defintley stay again.

Thank you Marian for your positive feedback which is always nice to get, yes, a lot of families with young and not so young find having everything on the flat makes for easier and safer living, the enclosed garden is essential for peace of mind with the little ones. they are trapped in the back where they are safe. we would love to see you again when you are home again.

From the moment we arrived to Yellow shell cottage, with beautiful scones waiting for all the family, we knew this was the place for us. Yellow shell cottage is only a few minutes from the beach and minutes from a beautiful walking lane that is great for kids as they fly along on their scooters in complete safety. the cottage is so secure and private as the back garden is completely enclosed - this is brilliant as we cooked our dinner , had wine in the back garden as the kids played in complete safety. Places to eat are plentiful in dungarvan with merry's bar and restaturant serving great quality food.With two small children the 2 playgrounds in dungarvan are top of the range and if it rains the indoor play area in clonee strand hotel is perfect for a rainy afternoon. There is always something to do in dungarvan and the town is a hidden jewel in Ireland , like this cottage as it is a quaint little Irish cottage that is perfect for a family.I am booked in for next year so I dont mind sharing my thoughts on this.

We had a family holiday at the cottage. The owners were welcoming and very helpful. Enclosed garden was great for the children to play. Just a few minutes drive from a fantastic beach and a short drive into Dungarvan.
Would recommend to anybody for a great holiday destination. -

We had a lovely stay at the yellow shell cottage, carol and her husband are lovely people to deal with, the cottage had eveything we needed and more, the back garden is fully fenced in which was great for the small kids,
The beach was only a walk away which was good too.

The friendly owners were there to greet us and show us the cottage. They made us feel like they were there to make sure we enjoyed ourselves without interfering. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. The location in the country but close to town and the sea was beautiful.There are walking and bike paths from the cottage to the nice beaches and the surrounding area. The town of Dungarvin is very quaint and friendly with lovely pubs and restaurants. We sure enjoyed our visit to the Brydee Dee pub.

House was very comfy, great garden for the kids to run around. Great location, lots to do. Easy access to Waterford city, Cork, Kilkenny etc. Recommend you visit Dooleys Hotel in Waterford, O'Sheas in Tramore and The Quays Restaurant in Youghal for great food. Only minor complaint was that there were too many "object d'art" for little hands to grab at so had to put them out of reach. Would also have like a few more TV channels but that was just us.

First of all we must thank Carol and Ray for making us feel very welcome and also in their knowledge of the area and helping in planning some great days out.Yellow Shell Cottage is full of character and was also very clean and tidy. The Cottage is very well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the garden area which was very sunny and private.It was only a short drive to Dungarvan with its abundance of restaurants and pubs.

We have stayed at Yellow Shell Cottage many times before and we have always found the cottage clean, tidy and comfortable. One of the other reasons for staying there is that it is quite central for visiting the south coast. Ballinroad sits comfortably beneath the Comeragh mountains and is just a mile or two away from the picturesque town of Dungarvan where there is great entertainment most nights of the week. 40 mins from Waterford and about 60 mins from Cork.

At the time it was icy and frosty, just perfect for the wife and kids who hail from the pacific. The house warmed up well once we had battened down all the hatches. snuggled in to watch the christmas tv. dungarvan good for the hotel and services. very close to cork on the way home.

Thanks to Carol, my friends and I had a fantastic living space for our vacation. She and her husband were very welcoming and kind to us during our stay. Everything was clean and tidy and almost everything was provided for us, leaving us happy and excited for our trip. We will definitely be going back for another stay in the near future!
