      Idyllisch

Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Great Service, spotless cabin, convenient location, peaceful set

Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This is our last night at the cabins...about to end a 3 night stay. If I had a few hundred extra bucks, I'd pay to have their poor website overhauled. It simply doesn't come close to portraying how excellent this place is.

These cabins have everything you need for a great vacation in Dunnellon. We are in #9. The only compaint is that the walk is rather steep, uphill to the parking lot...in sand. There's no drive-down-to-unload policy so I got my workout with a 30 pound toddler and all her "stuff." There are wagons to help with the big stuff, but I'd hate to bring in a week's worth of food or coolers for a big crowd. This is all just fine for us, but we couldn't entertain my husband's grandparents here as she'd never have made it up the sandy hill with bad knees.

After contacting other accomodations in and near Dunnellon, the most striking difference between the others and the Rainbow River Club Cabins was the service given by the person who took our reservation. She was courteous, helpful, professional, and acted like she actually cared about our reservation. Great first impression!!

The second great impression was how clean this cabin was!! The cabins are not fashionable by any stretch...but they are spotless. The porches are expansive and since the cabins are arranged in a bit of a circle, every porch faces the forest. There's a picnic table and grill outside too.

The cabins are located on the river and are connected by a long boardwalk through the cypress forest. #9 sits right at the end of that boardwalk. You won't hear or see the river from the cabins, but you're only a short walk from the water.

Another great feature is the pool...it was too cold for me this time of year, but my toddler enjoyed playing on the step and we had fun in the sunshine. There's also a few great picnic spots down by the paddle boats and row boats. The river is beautiful and a great place fo photos.

There's also a clubhouse with a big back deck overlooking the river. We didn't even go inside, but it looked like a great spot for a rainy day...

We took our 3 little dogs and they loved it too!

We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Dunnellon & will recommend this place to anyone looking for a great retreat on the river.

      Great property

Left on 08/20/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed here last week with another couple. One bedroom is a queen and the other has two twins. There is a futon in the living room but I don't think the cabin would be very comfortable with any more than 4 adults. The screened porch has two rocking chairs and a small picnic table. The dining room table is plenty large enough. The cabin is simply decorated, but sufficient and all you really need. It seems the cabins were recently renovated or something based on the walls, windows, and a/C.

The kitchen on the other hand... not much nice to say and definitely not updated. Bad lighting, old stove with un-level burners, no sponge\cloth to wash dishes, only one potholder\trivet, horrible skillets and pots\pans, dull knives, no cleaner to clean the counters. Most things you'd need is there but not even mediocre quality by any means. If you are particular about knives or skillets or something, bring your own. You might also need to bring foil\saran wrap. There is a "county park" type grill at each cabin, so you need to bring charcoal and something to clean the grates. I didn't notice any particular BBQ tools. We brought our George Foreman instead.

Some cabins are about a 1/4 mile down hill from the parking area. They have carts for carrying stuff but walking up hill could be a chore if you have difficulty walking, etc. Some cabins are right next to the parking lot so if this is a concern for you, you'll want to ask.

The experience at the cabins is great. There is a clubhouse with pool table and ping pong, and rocking chairs on the back porch. Then a pool (closes at 8 I believe). There are a couple ponds next to the clubhouse for fishing and alligator watching. Rainbow River is about 1/2 mile down a trail on the opposite side from the cabins. There is a canoe\kayak launch and fishing areas there. Withlacochee River is much closer to the cabins, with a nice boardwalk through the cypress swampy area. You could launch a canoe here but it would be difficult. Mainly this area is for fishing. The tubing entrance at the state park is only about 5 minutes drive from here.

The staff, for the most part, was very accomodating and welcoming. They have golf carts and will drive you around (to\from the cabin with your stuff, out to the Rainbow River, etc). One man got a trailer attachment and took our canoe down to the river for us (and back). We only had issues with one employee. She simply was not interested in being as nice as the others and after being treated like a cherished guest by them, her indifferent attitude was certainly not expected. However, I will not let her deter us from returning.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. With the proper kitchen items in tow, we'll probably visit again next year. If they updated the kitchen accessories and took care of that one employee, this place would be rated excellent.

We had a fun filled and relaxing time. Staff was incredibly helpful when we had a crisis involving our dog. Cleanliness and supplies were supreme. The grounds and amenities were plentiful. I can't wait to return for another visit!

      Great place in the woods

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We enjoyed this cabin very much. It' s not fancy but has everything you need. Ours was 2 bedrooms with a shared bath, living area and galley kitchen. And, a great screened front porch with rocking chairs which was a wonderful spot for morning coffee. There are several walking trails through the woods, fishing off the piers in either of the 2 rivers, a small pond for casual boating, and a central hall with a pool table, ping pong and other games. WIFI was also available. The location between the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers is wonderful. We wanted to get away from the city without having to pack all our camping gear. This worked perfectly.
