EdinburghA true gem
Left on 04/26/2013 for a stay in April 2013
To celebrate my parents birthday we took them away and stayed here for three nights. On walking in we immediately felt at home. My Mum had tears in her eyes on seeing around the property it was so impressive. The kitchen is very well stocked and has ample space to use as a cooking area and also with the breakfast bar you can sit and chat while someone is cooking. Both bedrooms are very cosy and en-suite's off both. The lounge has a large dining area along with couches that focus on the fire area giving it all a very inviting and homely feel.
Facility-wise there's not much more you could ask for. There's a welcome tray featuring tea/coffee/milk and some home-made marmalade. The lounge is stocked with games, Dvds, books and local information pamphlets. The bedrooms have nice fluffy towels and there's an initial supply of logs for the fire.
On our first day we bumped into the owners who made us feel very welcome with some recommendations on things to do and see nearby.
This is a first class place to stay at an amazingly affordable price. Well worth making this a base for seeing around the borders. -

We have stayed in quite a few holiday cottages and would have to say that this one was one of the best. The property has been furnished to a high standard throughout, the rooms are stylish with a touch of country luxury. The bedrooms are lovely and the main one is really spacious. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality crockery and utensils and is a lovely space to cook and eat in. The garden is private and a real bonus for us is that it really is dog friendly and fully enclosed !
Maureen and Lothian are nice people who have a friendly relaxed style which all adds to the atmosphere of the place, we would definately reccomend the granary and look forward to staying there again in the future.

I have recently spent a week here with my husband. The property is even better in reality than it is in the photos. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Maureen and Lothian have done a brilliant job in making The Granary very welcoming and a home from home. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen is there and it is decorated in such a tasteful way. It was spotlessly clean and using the wood burner every night made it even cosier. We had such a peaceful, relaxing break it did us the world of good.

The Granary is a stone built farm building that has been tastefully restored by the owner. It has all the mod cons you might need but has retained its old-world charm. The kitchen and bathrooms are all high standard and include luxuries such as an Italian coffee maker and TVs in both en-suite bedrooms. The Granary has its own private garden and is located in a very attractive part of the country with plenty of places nearby to visit. We all found the owners very friendly, relaxed and helpful and thought it excellent value for money. Highly recommend.

RabatAmazing - best rental I've been to
Left on 04/18/2012 for a stay in March 2012
I've stayed in a lot of holiday rentals at around this price range both in Scotland and abroad and The Granary is best I've experienced. The cottage itself is lovely: beautifully renovated and decorated, really spacious and unbelievably well equipped for a rental. We cooked as if we were at home (including fresh eggs from the owners' chickens!). The heating was good, if it's winter visit you're considering - I'd maybe make sure they have it on for your arrival. The bath in the en-suite is fantastic too.
The garden was brilliant for our 16month old son. He loved chasing the hens and we were happy to sit at the garden table and have a cuppa while he did!
The owners, Lothian and Maureen, live next door and couldn't have been more accommodating. They left us to ourselves but were always more than happy to help and we never thought twice about chapping their door (even to ask for a cup of flour!).
The location if excellent for seeing the borders. Lots of lovely little towns around and plenty stuff to do, even if it is just searching for the best pub lunches! Duns is a nice wee town and a 5 min drive maximum. We were there out of season for a few of things such as petting zoos for our little one, but still filled our days with ease.
I'm trying to think of any negatives and all I can come up with is a few very squeaky floorboards which weren't ideal when the wee man was sleeping, but that's seriously it!
Can't recommend it highly enough. We'll hopefully make it back sometime. -

A truly lovely cottage, everything you could need and more. Upon arrival we were welcomed with a delicious welcome tray adorned with homemade marmalade and muffins, both of which were delicious! The accomodation is 5*, with super comfy beds, clean, smart and cosy surroundings. The owners are very friendly and approachable and are very keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I can highly recommend a stay here... three nights just wasn't enough!!!

I loved every minute of my time at The Granary. It is a delightful cottage, renovated and furnished to a very high standard with charming attention to detail, and situated in a very peaceful location with great views over the fields. On arrival I found the cottage to be scrupulously clean, the log burning stove was set and there were some lovely "welcome" touches which were much appreciated. The bedrooms are a joy, beautifully decorated and each has its own ensuite facility - and fluffy towels (much better than home!). The sitting room manages to be both spacious and cosy. The kitchen is well thought out and provided with everything you might need. I found lots of great places to walk my dog, interesting villages and small towns to explore and also enjoyed a visit to Manderston and Floors Castle. After such an enjoyable and comfortable stay I can't speak highly enough of this cottage and look forward to returning - and I know there's lots more to see and do in the area.

My husband, I and two children aged 5 and 8 stayed at the Granary in September 2010. We were delighted with the cottage as it was extremely modern although still had some of the old charms eg beams and the log burning fire. It was very roomy, especially our bedroom, and also had the luxury of 3 bathrooms so much so we were spolied for choice. The owners had thought of every need from outdoor and indoor games, barbecue with coals provided to dvds and books.
The location is breathtaking from the moment you turn into the courtyard to the gorgeous peaceful corn filled fields that the cottage overlooks.
Mr and Mrs Webster provided us with some information prior to our stay on things to do in and around the Duns area, which was very useful. They settled us in nicely with a welcome tray of tea/coffee, biscuits, some fruit from the trees in the garden as well as some homemade jam.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Granary, although sadly as myself and my son are allergic to animals (as the cottage is available for rent to people with animals) we won't be renting the Granary again. That said as Mr Webster is currently renovating the other outbuildings perhaps we will return if one of the other cottages is pet free. -

This holiday home has got everything for all age groups, well presented with a lovely garden. Each room has been decorated to a high standard but manages to maintain a very homely feel. My partner and I enjoyed our time there so much we are returning for Christmas. With its wood burning fire and lovely surroundings we just can't wait !!

We stayed at the Granary for 2 weeks and were very impressed with the cottage and the surroundings. The cottage had everything we needed and was very nicely furnished and decorated. The garden was great, with nice views and lots of garden games to occupy our son.
There were lots of things to do in the area and we spent most days out and looked forward to returning to the Granary in the evenings. Our five year old son actually wanted to spend more time at the cottage as he loved it, particularly the garden!
Maureen and Lothian were very welcoming and helpful.
We really enjoyed our time there, would thoroughly recommend it and hope to return. -

We had a first class stay at the Granary. Every aspect exceeded our expectation. Lothian and Maureen were excellent hosts with first class taste. Not having internet access is a wonderful decision for those who look for a complete switch off! I would recommend this to many colleagues.
