North Las Vegas, NevadaTall Spruce House is an excellent place for a large group.
Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Wanted to express our great appreciation for the wonderful accommodations provided by Tall Spruce House during our stay December 31, 2012 - January 5, 2013. All 22 members of our immediate family - arriving from four different states - descended on a Monday and stayed through Saturday. Our large group of children had a ball sledding down the gentle slope in the snow-covered front yard. Cousins got to know one another, our children caught up on all the latest news, and we all shared fun times in this large, spacious house! It is clean and neat. We had all the necessities available to us in the various bedrooms and bathrooms. As family members took turns preparing meals for our large group, we found that we were well supplied with dishes, pots and pans, spices, appliances - everything we needed was at our fingertips.
Lisa is conscientious in providing for her guests. She has suggested interesting things to do in Durango. She met us as we arrived, told us to call her if we needed anything, and even left us some cookies and a tin of gourmet nuts along with a few instructions on the kitchen table. We would highly recommend the Tall Spruce House as a very special place for you and your family to spend quality time.

Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Our extended family, with children ranging from ages 2-19, stayed for a full week this June. The kitchen was well stocked and there were board games, puzzles, Dvd's for inside entertainment and outdoor games provided for outside activities. The large lawn provided plenty of space for children to play.
The owner, Lisa, checked in with us several times during the week to see that everything was going well and answer any questions we may have.
We also took full advantage of area activities from the Durango to Silverton Train, water rafting, Mesa Verde, Trimble Hot Springs pools, Purgatory resort with summer activities for children, to a drive to Ouray through beautiful scenery. -

Goodyear, AZAwesome house
Left on 01/31/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We traveled to Durango with 12 adults and 2 kids (5 & 1 yr) for a 3 night ski vacation to Purgatory. Loved this house! It was perfect for our extended family. The house was well stocked with all the necessities needed for a large group. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, silverware, and glasses along with large pots/pans. Often a rental for a large group will only have 10-12 of each item making it necessary to improvise at meals.
The house is big and has plenty of room to get away to yourself if you so desire. The number of bathrooms (5) was also a huge plus so no one had to "wait in line". Lisa, the owner, was very nice and accommodating calling on our check out morning to make sure our stay was a good one and asking if we had any suggestions on improvements.
The house is located a good 35 minutes from the airport and a 20 minute drive to Wal Mart. There are many smaller grocery stores closer and an albertsons. A very nice gourmet grocery store is across the highway from the Tall Spruce house that sells a nice variety of wine and beer as well as most staples needed. It's a good place to pick up a few items but I wouldn't shop there for all your groceries as they are a bit spendy.
I would recommend this house to anyone who has a large group. -

Gilbert, AZThis was a great house!
Left on 03/07/2011 for a stay in June 2008
We stayed at this house for a week with our 3 children and 7 grandchildren. The house was the perfect setup for our large group. Each couple had their own room and the grandchildren slept in the room with the bunk beds. The yard was probably our favorite part of the house. The grandkids were able to play baseball and run around without our having to worry about them wandering off the property. The nice long driveway made a great place for them to ride on their scooters! The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking necessities you'd need and the table was large and the bar stools were great for added seating. The family room was also used a lot. The kids loved the games and lincoln logs and the table was great for game playing. We had a wonderful time here and would highly recommend it!

Bellingham, WAThe most serene, romantic Wedding Rehearsal Dinner.
Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in June 2010
In our lives we have been many places. The Tall Spruce House allowed us one of the most joyous memorable times ever. Our sons Wedding Rehearsal dinner was held on June 4th, 2010 in the front lawn with such beautiful surroundings. The large deck supplied ample space for all the catering, the flowers and tables and of course the many people that were there to enjoy this occasion. The house chef Margaret was amazing. If I were to decide to marry my husband again...I would relive the moments at the Tall Spruce House. It's just perfect, inside and out.

Our family loved Tall Spruce - we were from ages 1 - 60+ and we all loved. Here is what my 9 yr. old daughter wrote:We had a great time on our vacation! I'm only nine, but I'll always remember Tall Spruce House! I was so amazed when I found out you had videos, Cd's, books and a piano! We played outside with badminton and frisbees. My parents had massages and they said it was great! I love Tall Spruce!

Really did love our stay! Family room is huge w/ gas fireplace, and a seperate game table area- perfect for large groups. Kitchen is very well equiped, we felt right at home for our Thanksgiving week visit. Sleeping capacity is huge, much more than we needed, but we checked out all the rooms and they all were spotless. We would love to stay at Tall Spruce again.

Granbury, TexasGreat Place for large groups
Left on 02/23/2011 for a stay in December 2009
If you have a large group this is certainly a place to consider. The sleeping areas, bathroom facilities and living areas are very adequate for the number of people advertised, however, the eating area is limited for a group of 10 plus. If you need to seat more than 10 people at the dining room table, extra tables and chairs have been provided and there is room for them in the adjoining gallery. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked and the home was exceptionally clean. Minimal side road travel to major highway, and the side road was well maintained. Convenient access to Durango Mountain and the city of Durango. We would difinitely like to come back again.

Roses are red
Our traditional line
The YaYa's stay at the Tall Spruce House
Has been simply divine.
Roses are red
and over the years our friendships grew.
So we've loved to reminisce
at this place with a view
Roses are red
as nurses we've covered many rears
Now we try to get together
Every couple of years.
Roses are red,
And leaving here will make us glum
The fun we've had here
We'll remember for years to come!

Left on 02/21/2011 for a stay in August 2010
Seventeen of us - nine of them children between the ages of seven and fifteen - enjoyed this spacious home with its beautiful view. Weather was wonderful so most of our dinners were enjoyed on the front deck. Every day was a busy one - hikes, Mesa Verde, tubing, San Juan Skyway drive and so on. A wonderful area and we made an excellent choice by staying at Tall Spruce House.

Left on 02/21/2011 for a stay in June 2010
We had a wonderful experience for our family reunion in Durango. The house was great for all ages (5 to 85). We enjoyed the patio and large front yard, plenty of bedrooms and baths, fully stocked kitchen and roomy living spaces.
While we had to drive to downtown Durango, there are plenty of activities in the area (rafting, hiking, golf, scenic train) Great house and fabulous location! -

Left on 02/21/2011 for a stay in August 2010
Thank you for providing such a nice, clean, roomy house for our family get together. The location was just perfect for all activities from groups play in the yard to mountain biking, airplane gliding and the narrow gauge railway. Totally loved it, and some of our group are talking about returning in the future. We had 8 kids all under the age of 5 and there was so much space for them all to run around and still have the quiet atmosphere for them to sleep at night while the adults played. The location so close to Trimble Hot Springs is most definitely a plus for relaxing tired muscles. Thank you so very much.

The Tall Spruce House is the nicest rental property we have stayed in so far! There were ten of us and our stay was delightful. This house is well equipped with just about everything! The house itself is spacious and tastefully decorated throughout. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom facilities are sufficient for a crowd. The hot tub is just steps from the back door! The kitchen has everything you need to create gourmet meals and there is seating for ten in the adjacent dining area. All the spices, bags, and wraps you need are furnished. We never ran out of paper towels or toilet paper! The owner called to check on us frequently and was very kind and attentive to our needs.
We also enjoyed skiing at Durango Mountain Resort. It snowed two feet while we were there but the town doesn't seem to be slowed down by that sort of weather as the streets are kept clear at all times. The ski resort is about twenty minutes away from the house and it is an easy drive. There is a gourmet grocery store and a liquor store just across the main highway. This is as close to heaven as you can get this side of eternity!
