Recently, I was looking on line for a nice place to rent with full accomodations for 4 old guys that annually get together to Mt. bike, hike,socialize,and do whatever outdoor activities that we can work into the week.We found this rental and it was the best accomodations that you could ask for. We did not have room service but the owners were like family and catered to any requests that we had.The home had a beautiful kitchen,large living area and a very nice patio and deck off the second level with barbeque and furniture. The high point was the location,the view,and The weather was outstanding. We also saw many deer in the evening. The home had a super large garage and carport. The bedrooms large and the two bathrooms were also very nice.There was no pool or jacuzzi but in the evening we cycled a short distance to town along the animas River trail.
The Durango experience, rental, price, and location was one of the best we ever had. We definitely will be back for another adventure. I highly recommend this property to any family or group of 4-5 people. -

The house is very nice, functional and great for kids. We have two toddlers who absolutely loved the house and keep saying they want to go back. Carol and Larry were very acommodating and extremely helpful. The location is great and close to everything you want to see in Durango.

This is the first time renting a vacation home. What a great experience! The home was clean, had beautiful views, a wonderful deck, two full baths, lots of privacy, and plenty of lounging space. The owners (who live next door) sent us lists of things to do in the Durango area and were very friendly and helpful. We have been home for two weeks now and can't stop talking about how wonderful our week in Durango was ... especially our choice to stay in this vacation home. We will definitely stay there again when we find our way back to Durango. Thanks, Larry and Carol!!!

Our stay was fabulous in Durango. This home offered all the amenities of our own home. It was beautiful, clean & spacious with beautiful views and in a great location close to downtown, groceries and bike trails. It is perched up on a hill, and if you are up early, or coming home at dusk, keep an eye out for the deer, they come right up on the hill, they are beautuful. And the outdoor deck was a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing and shopping. The owners, Carol & Larry, were so very kind and full of very helpful information re the area and local activities. We took their advice (we have a 5 & 2 yr old) to bus to Silverton and take the train back to Durango one way... It was plenty long enough for our children as they suggested, in fact, it was perfect. Silverton was a must and the train, too. What spectacular views and scenery. And if you are looking for a short, easy hike (1 mile up and 1 mile back), Spud Lake was perfect! We were able to enjoy the beauty of the area, sans shops & tourists. We drove to the trail head to hike to Spud Lake and had a picnic on the waters edge. The kiddos did great hiking there and back, and they loved playing with their buckets and spades. The scenery was breathtaking. We will be back!

My three girlfriends and I shared this wonderful house in early July. Carol and Larry were great hosts, willing to share their love of Durango and guide us to local activities. They have thought of every detail, right down to the discount card for the local grocery store! The house was spotlessly clean and in perfect condition.
The house is in a great location -- easy to get into town, or out to hiking & other outdoor excursions, but quiet (Except for some road noise when you are on the deck...small price to pay). It is beautifully furnished and is quite comfortable. We did not get nearly enough time on the great deck with the gorgeous view of the animas Valley. Big comfy couches, perfect for long evening's chats, in the living room. The kitchen has all conveniences -- and one day a view of deer grazing in the yard.
The only "caution" I will make is that the house does require you to be able to navigate stairs. The two beautiful bedrooms and one bath are on the ground level, Comfortable living area, kitchen, second bath, and laundry are on the upper level. No problem for us, but could be for those with mobility or breathing issues.

I recently spent three weeks in Durango working on my doctoral dissertation. When I was looking for a rental, I was looking for something that was affordable, close to town, private and with enough room to spread out and work. This home met all of my criteria and, to be completely honest, has all of the amenities and size if I were taking a vacation with my wife and three kids as well.
The home is beautifully situated, maintained and decorated. The floorplan was open and welcoming and the deck situated so as to be able to relax and overlook the animas River. Although I only used one of the three beds in the home, it was extremely comfortable. The kitchen is full sized and everything you would need to make a good home-cooked meal was provided.
The owners of the home lives next door and are friendly, approachable and welcoming. If you have a problem or need something they are right there. If you don't, you would never know they were.
Absolutely fantastic stay!!!

The home is perched above the town of Durango allowing wonderful views of the valley below and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The interior is an open floorplan with a beautiful kitchen, dining area and great room that allowed our guests to relax and have fun.
There is a lot of natural light and every so often wildlife would wander onto the property. In the distance we could see Elk moving through the valley.
The home is fully furnished with every peice of cookware to accommodate any meal plan. Each room has its own character and very comfortable.
We were minutes from downtown Durango that boasts great food and spirits. A grocery store is just down the street and a liquor store around the corner. The garage can hold two cars. The ski basin is 25 min from the home with activities summer and winter including a pool and zip line. If you fish or raft, there are a lot of places to have fun.
The owners are gems. Lifelong residents with beautiful personalities always willing to help or give suggestions. If your missing something they will make sure you are taken care of.
Short or long term stay you will not be dissapointed. -

A comfortable home in a great location! The house is near downtown for eating at some great restaurants, shopping, and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It's also near unbelievable access to outdoor activities: mountain and road biking, trail running, hiking, as well as fishing and paddling on the animas River. The views north from the living room are expansive!

We have stayed in this home twice during the summer. Our favorite part is the great outdoor deck with a wonderful view of the animas Valley. We loved to come back to the home after a day of activities to enjoy sitting on the deck and often had our meals out there. The location was perfect for us, close enough to town but yet far enough away to be peaceful. The owners live in the house next door. They were helpful when needed but never intruded on our privacy. Everything was very clean, up to date, nicely decorated and accurately portrayed on the rental site. The configuration of the two downstairs bedrooms is a little odd, but it worked fine for our family. We would rent here again.

The master bedroom downstairs and the upstairs area with the
queen size sofa were made for privacy in both areas but the
front bedroom area downstairs was made to be an office. Instead
we put two twin beds in there so that's the reason it is a bit different
from most bedroom areas. It seems to work for everyone so we
are pleased.
