This stone-built traditional croft house, at the eastern end of the north-west Sutherland village of Durness sleeps five people in three bedrooms. This is a gorgeous old stone croft house, which has been carefully redecorated in modern but warm way. There are uninterrupted views of the lush green countryside from almost every window in this stunning house and even some views of the famous coastline too. The property comprises of 1 double, 1 twin, and 1 single bedroom, a modern fitted kitchen, a handy utility room, a large sitting room with an open fire and a newly built conservatory dining space. The house is decorated in warm yellows, cream... and white and is furnished mainly in a modern country style.

Amenities: Oil central heating with open fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine in utility room, TV. Fuel, power and starter pack for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Lawned garden area. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 2 miles, hotel and pub 2 mins walk. Note: Neighbouring sheep farms.

Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: Durness is the most North Westerly village in the whole of mainland Scotland and unsurprisingly it's lure lies in the fact that it's a wonderfully tranquil and calm place to spend a week or two. Durness is actually an ancient village having been built sometime before the 8th Century. History lovers should note there is an 8th Century Christian Settlement on the outskirts of the village as well as sites that show cave dwellings and evidence of Viking attacks. The nearby beaches are covered in shimmering sand and are well worth a visit even if the sun is not out! All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Great veiws,lovely scenery,frendley people,cottage was great,the Smoo hotel was very good and you can eat drink and walk back.My wife and i enjoyed our two weeks even on wet&windy; days.The local shops are very good also.I would think we may well visit this location again. I can't say enough about the location,but if you are after peace and quite this is for you(even the sheep were good!)

  A beautiful cottage in really breathtaking surroundings

  Viewfield Cottage is a beautiful, comfortable, homely cottage set in an amazing location in Durness. We were really impressed with the interior. I particularly loved the master bedroom and its view from the windows. Waking up and seeing the sun rising over the sea view is simply stunning. If it's peace and quiet your after then you couldn't find a better place. As for the surroundings, any keen photographer would think they had died and gone to heaven, its that beautiful. Durness has left a lasting impression on my wife and we will return again very soon.
