From your private deck you have an incredible panoramic view of the crystal clear water of the Caribbean and a dozen islands great and small. As you dream your day away gazing out you will see the most elegant boats float by, while listening to soothing music and the sound of waves crashing on the cliffs. Caledon, OntarioA pool with a view
Left on 01/15/2013 for a stay in December 2012
If you're renting a car and driving yourself to the villa then I recommend you arrive during daylight hours - street signs are a rarity on the island and finding your way after dark could be challenging - but that's why we loved this villa so much. We were looking for peace and solitude and that's what we got at Villa Cabrite. We didn't see or hear any neighbours during the week we were there.
It's situated on a hill about 75 feet above the water. We enjoyed watching the passenger ferries and car barges run between Red Hook and St John. The view is lovely - from inside and outside the villa. We only used the a/C one night as the trade winds kept the villa at a very comfortable temperature when the wall o' doors was open.
The villa is clean and has all the comforts of home - comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, wi-fi, laundry, potable tap water. For us, the highlights were the pool and deck; we spent most of our time outside. There's also an outdoor kitchen by the pool, with a sink, fridge and bbq.
The location of the villa is excellent, being 10 mins from Red Hook. We took the car barge over to St John and had a great day snorkeling at Waterlemon Cay and Trunk Bay. We also took our chances snorkeling at Magen's Bay on St Thomas, which isn't rated well for snorkeling, but that's actually where we saw turtles and a manta ray. My husband went zip-lining (a newer operation) and thought the 90-min tour was a lot of fun. He had no problem reserving online the day before, though he also went on a day when there were fewer cruise ships in port.
Katharine made the rental process really easy, especially considering we were a last-minute booking. The security deposit was refunded to us immediately, which we really appreciated. She also provided a lot of useful information about nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
We had a great week on St Thomas and it's entirely because of Villa Cabrite - its location, view, comfort and absolute privacy. -

My father, husband, and I stayed at Villa Cabrite for a week. While many things are not walkable, the location is perfect for those wanting to get away. Sitting at the edge of a point, you'd never know that there are other villas nearby, except for the occasional dog bark or voices from another property. The villa has high ceilings, comfortable bedrooms, and spacious bathrooms.
The deck really is the high point of the stay. If we were at the villa, chances are that someone was in the pool, had just come from the pool, or was about to go into the pool. We'd come back from snorkeling or diving and get into the pool! It's just such a fantastic place to watch all the boat traffic go by. There is an assortment of pool floaties and toys. Mosquitos and no-seeums aren't a problem at the villa like they are around the rest of the island. The trade winds keep them at bay making for a very comfortable stay.
If we weren't swimming or lounging on the deck reading a book, we were having a drink in the living room. With four massive floor to ceiling screen doors, the trade winds always made the space comfortable. On the nights that we used air conditioning in the bedrooms, the units cooled the rooms quickly and effectively. The kitchen and laundry was well stocked, the beds and pillows were comfortable. Wi-fi is available, although slow (it is an island!) and works better in some rooms more than others (thick walls). It's sufficient enough for finding out what to do if you stepped on a sea urchin earlier in the day but you wouldn't be able to stream a movie. Downloading a book takes about 30 minutes. In that 30 minutes, you can lay around and listen to the waves crash on the cliff below. It's not a rough life.
The location is about a 35 minute drive from the airport, a 10 minute drive to Food Mart (best prices), a three minute drive to a local beach (right next to the Ritz Carlton), five minutes from Latitude 18, and ten minutes into Red Hook. There are many stairs from the car park to the house. My 64 year old father just had a knee replacement in January but didn't find the stairs to be difficult as they are wide with handrails on both sides. It is handy to bring a little flashlight that you can clip to your keyring to help make way down the stairs at night if you failed to turn on the rail lights. We have a lot of family and friends living in Red Hook, they agree that this location cannot be beat for a great view and a retreat from the massive resorts and cruise ship crowd.
We made a lot of jokes about what a terrible place I had rented. Most of the time, we felt like we should thank the owners for letting us pay to stay there. We'll most definitely return. -

In the past we have stayed at the Ritz Carlton property on the same point. We like this East End Location for it is convenient to Red Hook for Dining Shopping and the Ferry to St John. We enjoy snorkeling at Secret Harbour, and Sapphire Beach. We never thought we could afford to stay in a luxury private waterfront pool villa until we discovered this one on www.StThomasCondoRentals.com The home offered us privacy and a luxurious Oceanfront Pool We spent many afternoons enjoy a glass of wine and floating in the pool. Katharine the owner was wonderful to work with and made toe booking process easy and a convenient check in process. She offered us advice on dive spots and special places to dine during our visit. We gained a friend and a new home -away- from- home. I would highly recommend this for couples or two couples desiring to stay together. Thank you
