      Wonderful location for a retreat!

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Our large group visited Laurel Island for a work retreat, and everyone had a fantastic time! Jack and Jan were very accommodating with our complicated boat schedule (guests coming and going at all hours) and worked with us patiently ahead of time to coordinate all of the details.

The cabins are charming - each with their own character and feel - plus they all have decks and docks on the water. The lodge is well-appointed and very large, with lots of activities and space for everyone. We especially enjoyed using the kitchen, all of the water sport equipment (canoes, kayaks, tubes), board games, ping pong table, and large outdoor patio/deck. The island is well-maintained but still feels like you're out in nature - there are lots of fun forested spaces to explore and the plants and grass are cared for. The hammocks and benches scattered across the island are really nice surprises and lovely to relax in. The lake itself is especially great - it's clean with a sandy bottom, nice for swimming and the canoes and kayaks provided (though beware of large underwater rocks near the main dock). It really seems like you can find the equipment for any kind of activity already stashed somewhere on the island - and Jack was available to answer all of our questions and help out during our stay. (He even built a campfire for marshmallow roasting for us!)

All in all, Laurel Island was exactly what we were looking for - peaceful, fun, beautiful, unique, and convenient! Definitely recommend!

Beautiful Island with amenities for the whole family

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Laurel Island is a fantastic getaway. Jack and Jan are wonderful hosts and very accommodating. We came with a crew of 20 or so and they let us have the entire island and gave us a full tour and showed us all the ins and outs as we got acclimated to the space. There was everything you needed from water sports to board games to cards to picnic tables, horseshoes, boats, kayaks and fire pit. It is a great place to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but really just be a couple hundred yards from the shore.

The houses and the main cabin are all amazing. there are great views and waterfront access from all houses. The bedding might be a little outdated but for a place to sleep when you are relaxing on an island is more then sufficient.

Great Getaway for a Bachelor Party/Family Retreat

Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The owners are very friendly. The island is full of activities (frisbee, wiffle ball, ping pong, canoeing, kayaking, swiming etc.). You can bbq while you are there with grills at each cabin. Each cabin has a kitchen and deck. It was a very relaxing and fun experience. Definitely recommended to those who enjoy the out-doorsy experience/semi-camping experience.
