      Great experience as usual

We have been renting Dune Tootin' for a few year and out stay has always been great. The cottage is clean, roomy and up to date. There are some great amenities such as washer/dryer, air conditioners and the best for us techies, free wi-fi. We plan on renting again next year.

Nice location, good price but close quarters

Left on 08/10/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This rental unit was a very good value for the money and located steps away from the beach. The staff at Sand Dollar were very helpful.

There should be some clarification on the website regarding the fact that these are not three separate units. The photo for this property is misleading as it shows three cottages along the beach (intentional?) indicating that the picture shows the 3 "separate units". I was very disappointed to arrive and find that our cottage was not a separate unit. Also the bedroom with the twin beds, which we used for our preschool children, had the window opening to the adjacent porch. Our sleeping children were less than 5 ft. away from the neighbors sitting on the porch at night. A bit unsettling to have strangers so close to my children's bedroom.

Otherwise the unit was amply supplied with cookware, utensils and even a barbeque which we used almost every night!

It felt like home away from home.

Left on 06/14/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Our unit was very comfortable, spacious, roomy and well stocked with all that was needed for a wonderful week. Its location included wooded marshlands and access to a private beach with historic route 6a not far from the front door.
All in all a very pleasant experience.

      Wonderful Stay

Left on 08/07/2009 for a stay in July 2009

We stayed at Dune Tootin Unit #3 and it was great -we had enough room so it didn't feel like we were all on top of each other (being 4 adults & 2 children) The rooms were a perfect size and we were nice and close to the beach! - Atmosphere was fantastic! We would definitely stay there again!!
The only thing I would suggest is getting a second ac unit for the living room! It was a little stuffy at night on the living room side? other than that ? Great Stay!

      Thanks for sharing your place!!

I think that you will like the new awnings over the picture windows on the south side of the cottage. The old ones were removed and we were waiting for the new ones whcich came in after your stay. It would have made the cottage less stuffy and the one a/c unit would have been plenty if you even wouold have needed it at all.

      Wonderful Beach

Left on 08/13/2008 for a stay in August 2008

We have rented this location for the last five years and have enjoyed the experience immensley. The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable. The bonus of washer and dryer makes vacationing more convenient. The only issues I have concerns some of the fixtures being older and in disrepair. The awnings outside need repair as well as some windows and the tile around the bathtub appear to be loose. These are only minor issues and did not effect the quality of our vacation. I would recommend this location to anyone interested in vacationing on the Cape.

Anne-Marie, Thanks for the input. That cottage is on the list for a new bathroom and awning for 2009. If there is money for windows, that may be done as well. We try to do something every year. This year it got a new refrigerator and bed in the master.

      Great for beautiful sunsets

Left on 07/29/2008 for a stay in July 2008

Had a great time staying at this property with all the ammenities - being able to cookout, cook in (not recommended on vacation), 1.5 bath so that we could still have our privacy and the cleaniness. Only draw backs we had that we didn't enjoy, was the "haul" to the beach and a very, very, rocky beach, which is not in your control, but very unpleasant to even "walk or swim" at the beach.
Couple notations for future guests: toaster doesn't work. Pillows in 2nd bedroom with twin beds need to be replaced - very unsanitary - luckily we brought our own, and the awning is broken (which would have been nice to be able to use).
      Sunsets were great though!!!!!!
      Thank you!

      John and Debbie,

Thank you for your review, but I am confused by some of your comments. The cottage is located right on East Sandwich Beach, so I don't understand the "haul" you mention. If the home was much closer to the water, it would get wiped out in a big storm. As far as the rocks go, the beach changes from year to year and sometimes it is rockier than others. You will also get yearly variations from house to house. This year that property has more rocks than last year. Next year it will change again. That is the nature of beaches on Cape Cod Bay. They are not the same as beaches in Florida. There are always sandy areas to set up your chairs and sandals or watershoes will work for tender feet. Additionally, huge sand bars come out in front of the property twice a day. Maybe the haul you are referring to is the extra distance between high and low tide. Such is the nature of tides. At high tide the water is closer to the houses than at low tide.

Please call us as instructed if you have any complaints. We were always available 24 hours a day for you to call about the toaster, pillows or awning. The toaster was checked last turnover and found to be working but we replaced it anyway in case the problem was intermittent. Our office is only about a mile away. You will find that we can usually respond within minutes to most calls.

      Perfect family vacation rental

Left on 07/24/2008 for a stay in July 2008

This property is the best! It hooks up with two other units so family and friends that book the same week can easily get together for gatherings and make plans or just hang out together.

It is always clean and spotless. Plenty of parking and plenty of room to move around.
This unit has a huge kitchen and adorable bedrooms. Not to mention the wrap around deck and the fabulous views of the marsh and bay. (bird watchers galore).

This year we had a new refridgerator delivered as we arrived. The addition of a gas grill (instead of the dangerous and tedious charcoal one) was
heaven sent. This unit also has a washer and dryer. (definetly needed for those sandy towels)

I was heart broken when I thought we couldn't rent this property this year. When I started looking around for other places I found none compared.

And the owners are simply wonderful people..
What more could you want? eh?

      J.T-W.

      Joette,
Your the best. I am glad that the new refrigerator and grill made it for your stay. The house is a great value and we work to keep it that way. I'm glad you didn't go anywhere else after the change in management companies. I would have missed you and your family. See you next 4th of July.

      Super Family Fun

Left on 07/09/2008 for a stay in June 2008

My wife, two daughters (ages 15 and 13) and I just spent a week in this great cottage. We have stayed at this cottage for 6 years. We have traveled to many destinations as a family and this remains one of our favorite vacations. The beach is just outside your door with great sandbars for the kids to play on and some decent fishing for me. At sunset you get a beautiful view as you look towards the Cape Cod canal. My wife loves to visit all the little gift shops that are close by on rte 6A. The cottage with it's washer/dryer and full kitchen helps to make the vacation affordable and packing easy.

      Wonderful Home

Left on 06/20/2008 for a stay in June 2008

Dune Tootin #3 is a very clean, comfortable unit with a wonderful deck that overlooks the marsh and offers lovely sunset views.
It is very clean and comes adequately equipped to cook and eat indoors or on the deck. There are a few extra features that we have enjoyed :wireless connection , air conditioning, and the washer and dryer.

East Sandwich beach is a wonderful spot…..We’ve been coming there for 25 years. It’s part of our own history.

      Thanks, Jerry!
