It’s been many seasons that Heartwood House has been an ideal space for wedding parties, family reunions, parties, board retreats and honeymoons. For many years, this classic island post-and-beam home has hummed with love, laughter and light. We adore how "Lady Heartwood" loves getting "dressed for the party". So many memories are held within these walls now and we feel honored to have been the special venue for so many family celebrations and important gatherings.

    Heartwood is a wonderful venue for Retreats, Celebrations and Gatherings. We can accommodate groups of 20 and work with The Outlook Inn to coordinate overnight accommodations (1/4 mile away).

    Our team can coordinate your event, arrange catering and service, activities (kayaking, whale-watching, meeting design & facilitation, etc) and onsite services (massage, DJ, photographer, etc)

      I used the lovely space of Heartwood House to host a one-day women's retreat called "A Woman's Journey Home" in early December. My first impression was delightful because the house had been beautifully decorated for the holidays. It is a very welcoming, comfortable environment. There are different areas of coziness to gather in the open floor plan. The overall flow of the kitchen/dining/great room worked very well for our needs.
      The kitchen was well equipped and perfectly set up for preparing lunch for the group. The location is very convenient for access to Eastsound and has a lovely view of the water through the trees.
      I felt well taken care of by the owner both before the event and by how everything was set up. It was a nurturing, relaxing time for all. Unfortunately we did not have time to take advantage of the hot tub or sauna!
      A very tasteful, comfortable home for personal or professional retreat. I highly recommend this home.

      Heartwood House epitomizes the beauty of Orcas Island!

      Our three night stay at Heartwood House made our visit to Orcas that much more enjoyable. The view of the bay from the deck is breathtaking! The location is just a short walk to Eastsound and the waterfront. The house has so many wonderful amenities that we didn't have time to enjoy, so we'll be returning for a longer stay next time! Many Thanks to Gretchen for helping ensure our stay was a stellar experience!

      Great place for group or personal retreat

      I was offsite here with a small group. The house is comfortable, spacious and flexible. There was no accommodation we desired that was not there (hot tub, sauna, great kitchen, laundry, ect.) The size of the house allowed for spaciousness you would never have in a retreat center. Eastsound is a five minute walk making restaurants, shops and crafts easily accessible. And since it is on Orcas Island, all the parks and towns on the island are a short drive. the hosts are accommodating and easy to work with. They really understand how to make guests feel comfortable and have set up their own lives to be there when you need them- and not when you want privacy or solitude. If you are taking a group offsite or want an island holiday with family or friends, I highly recommend Heartwood.

      Heavenly Home on the Bay

      Beautiful, light filled home great for personal or family retreat. Set in the woods overlooking the bay, the home is surrounded by lush greenery, flowers and very busy hummingbirds. Inside is spacious. The kitchen is full functioning and there are beautiful wood floors as well as wood accents throughout. Highly recommended.

      This large, spacious, and most comfortable home - is truly a lovely place to stay. It's elegant - yet relaxed enough in style and furnishing that you will feel comfortable bringing the kids. Elegant and sumptuous enough that you'll feel quite at home there with your boss or most important clients. So close to the very charming EastSound town that you can walk there a couple short minutes - and Orcas is the most beautiful Jewel of the San Juan Islands. My partner and I love Orcas and this home is just perfect. Highly recommended with no reservations of any kind.

      A Deeply Good Place!

      Heartwood House gets full marks for its great location, beautiful interior and exterior, cheerful ambiance, and amenities including large decks, hot tub, sauna, and fire pit. This is a house that instantly feels like home and fully lives up to the "heart" in the name.

      In my experience as a repeat guest, Heartwood House is a fine choice for families, groups, meetings, and retreats. Located within easy walking distance of downtown Eastsound, the property is quiet with lovely views of the water and Mount Constitution. The whole experience is delightful, from the rolling lawn and flower garden, to the bright kitchen with two coffee pots (one for decaf!), to the comfortable bedrooms, to the furnishings and fixtures, to the gorgeous wood floors and cathedral ceiling in the great room.

      There's something deeply good and relaxing about being here. Balance and harmony seem to emanate from this place. Inside and outside blend as the many windows offer an abundance of natural light and let in the splendor of the island. And one gets the feeling that a lot of love has been infused into Heartwood House... by the people who built it, by those who have cared for it over the years, and by the sacred land on which it sits. Nourishing to the body and soul, I've found this gem on Orcas to be the perfect antidote to traffic jams and endless email, as well as a wonderful space for meetings, creative writing, and musical adventures thanks to good acoustics!

      A Sanctuary and Energizer!

      I originally intended to stay at Heartwood House for a few days, but enjoyed it so much I extended my stay! The house is a wonderful space for creativity, group gatherings, but equally a relaxing haven for families, as well as couples or groups. The garden and outdoor space is generous and carefully planned. There is even a fire pit for long summer evenings! The owners are very welcoming and helpful, and the house is well kept with a warm and homely feel. Eastsound with local amenities is just a short walk away. The perfect location and environment for time away!
