Greenfield CenterGreat to Have a Home away from Home
Left on 05/17/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We rented the atholl Crescent Lane apartment for nine nights. It was an excellent experience. Tricia and Jan did a great job of answering our queries. More important, they were very accommodating with some change in plans due to the us air traffic snafu resulting from the federal budget sequester. They allowed us in early and were there to meet us upon our arrival in Edinburgh. They showed us how everything worked and we were all set, including a start with the basic necessities.
The location is wonderful. It's close to main tourist sites, conveniently located near grocery stores and restaurants, yet very quiet. It's also close to good bus service. The kitchen is well equipped with the basics, with enough utensils to allow a reasonable amount of cooking. The apartment is very much as pictured on the web site. The washer is a great convenience; we hung clothes to dry. The mattress is a bit on the soft side.
Self catering like this is the way to go for a stay of any length. We felt much more like we were staying at home, or at least borrowing a friends home, than in a sterile hotel. It's really nice to be able to have food for breakfast and lunch right at home, and even have a few suppers in the apartment. The living room in addition to a bedroom gives some space to spread out, relax, and feel at home. -

RomeA little jewel of an apartment in the centre of Edinburgh!
Left on 02/18/2013 for a stay in January 2013
I rented the atholl Crescent apartment for 12 days at very reasonable rates. One of the most important things for me was the fact that it was always so warm in spite of the inclement weather conditions outside! I found it very well furnished and spotlessly clean, especially with regard to the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen had any amount of handy utensils which helped me to provide evening meals for myself and friends who visited me. Thanks to the local supermarkets in Shandwick Place my kitchen was always well-stocked! In spite of the upheavel caused by the new tram-lines I found no difficulty in finding suitable buses within the vicinity of the flat to take me around Edinburgh.
There is perhaps only one small thing I would like to suggest and that is perhaps that there could be stronger lighting on the stairs especially when Edinburgh keeps up its reputation of dull skies (including rain). Anyway it's a mere detail when comparing this with the all-round quality of the flat. Full marks!!! -

We rented the apartment for nine days and came to think of it as our own little home. The location is great, walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The grocery store around the corner filled our every need. The apartment was well equipped. The Internet operated flawlessly. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The price was very reasonable for what we got.

Perfect! The location was so accessible to exploring Edinburgh - and fantastic restuarants in the immediate neighborhood. On top of that, the space was so inviting and cozy. Bed was divinely comfortable and good natural lighting with all the windows.
Our hosts were fantastic too - providing all kinds of resources and guidance.
Loved our stay! -

We wanted a place close to the city, this location could not have been more perfect. Close yet in a quiet street. Flat was clean and tidy and fully equip. Information and communication were excellent. I would stay here again, however won't need to as we have moved to Edinburgh now due to loving it so much and actually ended up renting a flat in the same street!

We attended the Edinburgh Tattoo in august 2012, so the apartment was perfect for our 3-day stay. We found it wonderful, especially the kitchen which had absolutely everything in it. The supermarket was just around the corner and proved very handy, and so was the pub! I wouldn't recommend it, however, to elderly folk who cannot/dislike climbing stairs.

Impressed I think is my overall impression. The keys mailed to me arrived in good time. Instructions to get to the apartment were clear and accurate. On arrival the flat was clean, complete and the package of shortbread a thoughtful treat. Having tea & coffee fixings on hand much appreciated.
The flat was as described and everything I used worked properly. Bed was reasonably comfortable and having a small balcony was an added bonus.
Operating instructions for all major appliances where clearly placed. There was a lot of tourist information in the flat neatly arranged and those I used were up to date. The area is fine and a 20 min walk from the Waverley bridge where the main city tours depart. It's about the same distance to the Straw Market and an additional 10 from there to the Hay Market and the Royal Mile. Plenty of pubs/restraunts within walking distance.
I could heartly recommend this property to any couple.
The only concern would be for people who have trouble climbing the stairs - 20+ steps. These are prominently mentioned in the advertizing so were expected. -

Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed having a familiar and comfortable place to lay our head every night while in Edinburgh. It was perfectly located close to groceries, the castle, buses, the Royal Mile, restuarants and pubs.
I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised that the kitchen had everything we needed. Washer/dryer was great to have. Expect to have to air dry your clothes. The dryer didn't work as well as mine at home.
They supplied bath and hand towels and liquid soap in the bathroom - so bring your own bar soap and shampoo etc.
They had tons of information available for transportation, sites and restaurants.
Warning - bring warm clothes in May - I froze. The wind was something else. I was so grateful they had an umbrella to use.
If we ever go back, I wouln't hesitate to stay there or recommend to a friend.

TokyoThis was a warm, at home Edinburgh experience.
Left on 01/26/2012 for a stay in January 2012
The atmosphere of the apartment was warm and welcoming. The information provided in the apartment folder covered every question that rose to mind. Tea, coffee, salt and other essentials were in the cupboards, a good selection of books were in the bookcase (including "Exit Music" by Edinburgh detective novelist Ian Rankin), a supermarket was located a couple of minutes away, and although Edinburgh Castle was invisible from the apartment, I was able to watch the Hogmanay fireworks from the bedroom window! All in all, a haven for someone seeking peace and quiet, convenience, and accessibility to all of the city's major art galleries and museums.

After staying in this lovely apartment for 4 nights last year, I made a return visit and this time stayed for a week. Everything was just as good as it had been during my first visit (apart from the weather that is!!). The facilities in the apartment are excellent and the location makes it an ideal base for exploring different areas of Edinburgh either on foot or by public transport. The owners do everything possible to make sure your stay goes according to plan. I am already thinking about dates for another visit!

Receiving the keys beforehand in the post was very helpful as we were concerned that we might not arrive on time.
We thought the flat was just the right size for a week's stay. It would be too cosy for much longer.
The literature for visitors on where to go etc was very helpful and we tried to add to it with anything relevant which we picked up.
I felt the location was very good - not very far from the centre of things and perfect for the co-op! My teenage daughter was horrified at the prospect of walking everywhere but overcame that! The location close to the Haymarket station is handy if you're considering travelling to Glasgow. I'm considering your Grassmarket flat for our next stay.
I had a few difficulties locating the recycling bins at first. I took to putting the black bin bags in the rubbish bins in a nearby street you suggested as the gulls attacked the bags when I put them out.
We travelled up by train and I am pleased that we did as the cost of parking (other than overnight) would be alarming.
Your phone calls/messages (although we never spoke to you in person) were very reassuring.
I would definitely recommend Edinburgh Self-Catering. -

Cute, basic Ikea decorated small apartment on the third floor without a lift... easy walking from the bus stop to the apartment after airport arrival, with a market just around the corner. Well stocked kitchen, comfy bed, lovely balcony that looks down on a tiny street right out of a different century... Apartment is walking distance to the Royal Mile. We walked to everything easily. Restaurants nearby, Met the friendly neighbors and had a great time.. The landlords were responsive from the first email I sent --to the follow-up after I left . They even asked for suggestions of changes needed... I highly recommend this apartment.

We loved this apartment, its just like home from home - they've thought of everything for a comfortable stay. Great location, few minutes walk from new/old town but away from noise. After a long day out, it was a pleasure to go back to the apt where we could chill out in front of TV and watch the provided Dvd's. Loads of storage space in bedroom, the bed was so comfortable we wanted to bring it home. The literature and leaflets were also a great help as this was our first time in Edinburgh we used them to plan our days .We'd def book again when coming to Edinburgh

Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in September 2010
I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights at the beginning of September. It is in a great location in the West End of Edinburgh. It's an easy walk to Princes St and all the main sights of the city centre, and if you want to go further afield, there are several bus routes which run close by. The facilities and equipment in the apartment are excellent and everything was clean and in good condition. There's a supermarket just a few minutes walk away but if you don't feel like cooking, there's also plenty of choice of cafes and restuarants to suit all tastes and budgets. I really can't find anything about this apartment to criticise and it will be the first choice of accommodation for future visits to Edinburgh.

Left on 04/12/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We stayed there with our two (very small) kids, and
although it was quite crowded, we had a great time. The
apartment has great facilities (washer, dryer etc.) and is
superbly located, no matter whether you want see Edinbrugh
or the surroundings. Shopping is very close and convenient
- so self-catering is made easy. It's probably more
troublesome if you have to find parking around there, but
with such a central location, why would you need one.
We particularly appreciated the flexibility of Jan and
Tricia in enabling our stay and the fact that everything
showed just that little more care than was strictly
necessary to make a great stay, such as the immediate
response when we thought the heating was not working (it
was!) or the helpful hints at what to do with kids in
Edinburgh. Thank you! -

There's not much to fault about this apartment. Great location near
Princess st and just around the corner from Haymarket station. Very
quiet, comfy and extremely well equipped. I've stayed in a number of
self catering apartments in the UK and this was the best one. The
apartment was well heated, had a lot of information about Edinburgh, and
even a little balcony if you need to smoke. The hosts, Tricia and Jan
were great and really helpful. There's also good discounts on offer if
you're staying in off-peak and you are a last minute booking. I actually
stayed here twice, once in Dec and then again for 10 days in Jan. Home
away from home. Will defininately return again. -
