This apartment was in the perfect location! We never had to take public transportation. Just walked down the stairs onto the Royal Mile. Home was nice, 4 adults stayed comfortably. Our only complaint was the low water pressure made showers longer.

Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The service we received in acquiring this apartment was first class. The keys were sent to us in advance and we had very little difficulty in locating it. It was very central and conveniently situated to local sites and amenities. The apartment was spacious and comfortable and well equipped. We were lucky with car parking since we were able to use the castle (we knew someone who worked there), but I imagine it could be expensive if a local pay car park was used.

I agree with every review for this property and so am really satisfied with our stay. The communication with Jayne was uncomplicated, the property clean. Having free wifi was a plus. Thank you very much!
However, I would like to take this opportunity to point out the following:
The apartment is almost in the same building as Deacon Brodies Tavern. Not much problem with noise at night, but taking the stairs to the appartment means crossing the exhaust air of the tavern's massive ventilation. Really, really awful. Unfortunately the staircase (would definitely need some refurbishment) has this greasy smell too, as has the apartment's porch (a little bit). You can even smell the grease in the living room a very little bit, but I can not tell if this comes from outside or the from the apartment's kitchen. I would definitely recommend opening the window in case of frying, because the cooker hood ventilator is not very efficient. The rest of the apartment smells absolutely okay.
During the day the tavern's ventilation is constantly running. If you are sensitive to noise and stay in the apartment during the day, be prepared to hear the ventilation in the living room.
During the night the ventilation is off and the courtyard is quiet. There can be some people cheering in the courtyard at night, but this happened only once during our stay (3 nights). Remember: You are in the very middle of the city!
There was absolutely no noise from other apartments in the building.
I would recommend to replacing the frying pans. They do not really invite you to prepare a cooked breakfast. Addintionally the cooker hood ventilator would like basic cleaning.
All in all we had a pleasant weekend at a great location with all the amenities at the doorstep. And we will be coming back to Edinburgh again and again - as in the past.Response from Edinburgh Central lets Jayne & Antonio Ciancia - 03/14/2012

Thank you for your positive feedback and your overall good review with a 4* many thanks
I am sorry about the extractors from the restaurant and no one has commented before ,though they are unsightly
The stair in the building is cleaned on a regular basis by a company, and with us being on the top floor we normally don’t really get bad smells of grease, with regards the extractor in the kitchen
I have recently cleaned it myself and replaced the filter also before your stay ,so may be its just not as efficient as you would have liked , at the same time I also put a new frying pan in for use
But maybe the old one didn’t get thrown out, so I will check this and rectify.
The actual building is very old so does suffer from a bit a wear
The sometimes cheers you hear are from walking tours and amusing entertainment provided by the tour leader for the tourists as you can see from the lovely outlook from the kitchen area window it is popular tourist area during the day and being in an enviable location

We stayed the weekend in this property at the beginning of the Fringe Festival. The location was perfect. It shares a court yard with the Writer's museum and is located right behind the Deacon Brody Pub. The Hop on hop off buses stopped right in front of the close accessing the apartment and the Castle was a short walk away. (If you don't know what a close is it's the passageways between buildings- we were unfamiliar with the term when we arrived but we quickly figured it out). It was the perfect location for our 1st time in Edinburgh and we could see the fireworks after the Military Tatoo from the Kitchen Window. It was reasonably priced and really easy to pay for. I was able to pay with Paypal. The apartment was clean, water was hot and there's a near by convenience store for late night snack cravings or to grab a box of cereal and milk. Fyi- almost none of the accommodations we stayed in on our whole trip had face cloths so be sure to bring one from home but they all had towels.

What an excellent location to explore Edinburgh. Since it was so central, we were able to break up our day with stops back at the aprtment which is so important when you have kids so no one got completely miserable having to go an entire day. It was also a nice find to realise we were in same buillding as Deacon Brodie whose food we enjoyed.
The apartment is spacious, clean and well equipped. Our two boys aged 5 and 7 immeditely claimed their room and were so at home. Jayne was very helpful at the end of the phone when we came a bit unprepared. We will be definitely be back. -

Absolutely zero complaints about this wonderful apartment. The location is perfect, within a short walking distance to everything. The value was unbeatable. And the apartment itself was the best we've ever stayed in on vacation (by far). Very modern accommodations with lots of room. Arriving to the apartment was seamless thanks to Jayne's help and was very easy to get to it from the airport. If this apartment is available, book it. You won't be disappointed.

I stayed at the aprtment with my husband and mother-in-law and our stay was nothing short of perfect!
The location of this apartment is fabulous - right on the Royal mile and within walking distance to everything. We spent three days in Edinburgh and we were able to walk to everything.
The apartment itself is clean, modern and warm! Nothing was too much trouble for Tony and Jayne! Prior to our arrival we had agreed we would meet at a certain time to handover keys etc. We arrived earlier than expected and Tony was more than happy to meet us early. He was prompt, friendly, helpful and ensured we were settled prior to leaving.
I just wished we could stay longer! -

Everything about this rental was wonderful--it was roomy, clean, and with a fantastic location. And the price was incredible--we paid less for four of us to stay here than we did for two of us to stay at the Edinburgh youth hostel two years ago. I would heartily recommend this property to anyone.

We had the opportunity to stay in this great apartment during the volcanic ash cloud disruption. Jayne helped out at a stressful time by extending our stay and checking in on us. The apartment was well appointed, cozy, and ideally situated. We will definitely stay here again!

Left on 02/11/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We had such a wonderful weekend. 4 of us shared the apartment and was perfect size, perfect location and exactly what we were looking for.
The few flights of stairs weren't a problem for youngsters like us (!). Don't be disheartened by the entrance to the property (slightly smelly stairwell!) the flat itself is lovely once you get there!!!
The location was absolutely perfect. Right smack bang in the middle of everything but as the property is high and in the set back courtyard it is still quiet enough to get a good sleep whenever you need it!!!
Edinburgh is an amazing city and this wonderful apartment only made our stay even more enjoyable!!

The flat is situated in a backyard just off royal mile yet it's quiet and cosy. Very spacious with nice furniture, two nice double bed rooms and a kitchenette with everything you need including a dishwasher so you don't have to care about washing up. :)

First thing: The owners
Both Jayne and Antonio are great people. This is very helpful to begin with. The communication with them was totally excellent and there were no problems at all. Very friendly people, the kind of people with which you could enjoy your beer with!
Second thing: The location
The flat I rented was up in Royal Mile, 5 min from the Castle, in the very centre of the historic Edinburgh. What one would enjoy more? The atmosphere around the flat is amazing - totally recommended for a full Edinburgh experience!
Third thing: The flat.
Whoa. That was really nice. I'd rent for a long term if I could. The accommodation was intended for 4 people (2 couples) and this flat was exactly what it was suited for; a small palace with all the facilities. The flat had a kitchen equipped with everything a kitchen needs; a living room with TV, stereo, internet; amazing shower; 2 double bedrooms; utility/storage room. Washer/dryer was also included as well as gas central heating. All the appliances were working flawlessly. In a sentence, the flat couldn't have been better.
Last thing: The Price
I was looking for a place to accommodate 4 people for a period of 1 week. My intention was to find a budget but yet decent stay. The cheapest hostels were asking around £750 for four people and they were neither the cleanest nor the best places to stay!!!
In the flat I got from Edinburgh Central Lets I paid £400 for a weeks' stay. That is £100 per person. If that is not a real bargain then what is a bargain? Even if only a single couple was staying, still £200 per person would be a good price. No hotel or hostel can beat that.
Overall, owners, location, the flat and the price were simply just too good. Granted, one does not have his breakfast made every morning or his bed linen changed daily (as would happen in a hotel), but who really needs these commodities? A flat is a flat and this place felt like home, in which you'd like to return after a long day of activities!

Jayne and Tony kept in touch with us before our arrival, and made sure we knew what we needed to know once we got there. The flat was absolutely wonderful! We used just one of the bedrooms, but the bed and pillows were heavenly. The furniture in the sitting room is also quite comfy. Kitchen was well equipped, bathroom and towels lovely. The view from the kitchen is as pictured, and the Writers Museum across the courtyard not to be missed. Great dining in the immediate area. Edinburgh Castle about 10 min. walk, and Scotch Whiskey Experience as well (try it). When (not if) we come to Edinburgh again, I'd love to stay here. Be prepared to climb stairs--not just here, but all over town, but it's more than worth the effort. Cheers!

What a superb situation to be able to enjoy the heart of "Auld Reekie" form its heart, so to speak. This apartment could not be better positioned - we were able to stroll to everything we wanted to see within a few minutes. And to be able to enjoy afternoon tea in the sunny apartment and look down on the Walking Tours in the Square was such a great way to relax after hard day's sighteseeing.
