We enjoyed our stay in this fully furnished appartment very much: it had everything required (from toaster to washing machine) to make it easy for the independent traveller. Its central location allowed us easy access to the beautiful sights of Old Town and Edingburgh itself. The view from the kitchen to the Castle was inspiring. The disrete hostesses- Jan & Tricia - had verything in the clean appartment very well organized - and there was a ton of tourist info available in the studio which made our trip planning easy!
Definitely recommend this appartment for a couple!

Good service received from initial point of booking and arriving at location. Instructions about the apartment were clear and exact. Very good directions from anywhere as to how to find the apartment. Keys delivered in plenty of time. The apartment was warm and comfortable with everything we wanted for our short break. The location of the apartment was ideal, we had purchased "The Edinburgh Ticket" and could use the tour bus which stopped in Grassmarket (some 50 yards away) which conected to other tours and locations. The local Supermarket just up the road was ideal for us. Although there were plenty of places to eat locally. If we were visiting Edinburgh again would definately use Grassmarket Studio.

Stayed at Grassmarket Studio in March 2013. This is a trendy little studio with a wonderful view of the Edinburgh castle. It is a large room with a little kitchen area. It is a great location, away from the crowds yet convenient to bus and train and a short walk up to the castle. I absolutely loved the apartment and my next visit to Edinburgh I will definitely book this apartment again.

Great little studio apartment if you want to chill out in a place that feels like your own home and avoid hotels or B&B;'s. Great location within easy walking distance of Grassmarket (plenty funky little shops, cafe nearby), the Royal Mile and all the sights Edinburgh has to offer. Very professional service from the moment your booking is confirmed, comfortable, affordable, clean apartment with everything you need, loads of sightseeing info on the coffee table and lets not forget the great view of the castle from the kitchen and bathroom windows!
All in all, a lovely wee abode! -

The flat has the best location, with views of the Edingburgh Castle.
It has all the tourist information that you could need. The space is more than enough for a couple and all is perfectly clean.

Grassmarket Studio was a great place to stay for aussie visitors to Edinburgh. Comfortable bed/sitting room and a well equipped kitchen were perfect for what we wanted, and one couldn't ask for a better location, with the windows looking straight up to Edinburgh Castle, and the majority of the most interesting tourist attractions within easy walking distance. A good local supermarket just up the road made self-catering a doddle.
There was also a an up-to-data and comprehensive selection of tourist information in the apartment.
We also found Tricia and Jan of Edinburgh Self-Catering very helpful and friendly, and quick to respond to any questions. -

We wholeheartedly recommend this apartment and the support received from Tricia and Jan, Edinburgh Self Catering. The area is full of character and the comfortable, well serviced apartment has a terrific view of the castle and is within comfotable walking distance to the main attractions in the city. Not suitable for guest who have difficulty walking up 2 flights of stairs.

The grassmarket studio was in a great location very central to the centre of Edinburgh, views of the castle and a quick and easy walk to everywhere you could wish to visit.
The studio has everything you could want, comfty bed, TV, radio. The kitchen was well equiped everything you could need to make a nice meal. Nicely decorated and well maintained bed linen and towels provided for was great.
The information pack left for visitors was great so much useful information on where to go and how to get there. Lots of information on local tourist attractions, other guests have left reccomendations on rrstaurants to eat at.
The staff were very helpful and left all additional requests ready in the room when i arrived, also text messaged to say when appartment was ready to enter. -

Grassmarket catering
The studio is confortable, with everything that you need plus many extras that you would not expect to find in a short holiday accommodation. The location is brilliant. I had a view of Edinburgh castle from the kitchen window and everything interesting thing was within walking distance. I have not met the owners Tricia and Jan, but they seem genuinely nice people to deal with.

This is the 2nd edinburgh self catering property I have stayed at and again I was not disappointed. Great location, amazing views of the castle (including the fireworks for the tattoo). Everything you could need in the flat. I will definitely use again on my next trip to Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Grassmarket Studio in the heart of Edinburgh during the last week of July. The studio is in a great location, is very cheerful, comfortable and cozy, and is squeeky clean. The view of Edinburgh Castle at night out the kitchen window is priceless. All communications with Tricia & Jan were easy, smooth, clear and professional. This accommodation is a great deal for travelers looking for a wee home-away-from-home in a beautiful city, whether for six days or six weeks. We recommend this self-catering studio apartment as being within the top 5% of all we've used, and we have stayed in self-catering accommodations all around the world. This is a great stay, a good deal, and sets a standard for us that will be hard to beat.

Owners were very helpful and considerate. Great location near center of Edinburgh, nearby supermarket, nearby restaurants (Petite Paris especially). Studio is small but well furnished for 2 people. Bed is a little soft but otherwise no problems. For being in the center of town, it is remarkably quiet. Up one level from street, so there are some stairs to climb. Great view of the castle from the kitchen. WiFi worked just fine.

it's not our first time in grassmarket studio. it's a small cosy place in old edinburgh. This time we found bad weather in Edinburgh and so we appreciated furthermore its central location with everything we needed in a short walk distance. The greatest thing of this apartment is its stunning view of the castle and its location and it is surely price worthy. But what made us come back is the perfect organization of the owners: once booked you're sure to be in safe hands and to get every information needed and what is left to you is just to enjoy this lovely place

The rental was spotless, cheerful, and nicely located. Instructions to operate appliances, controls, and other gadgets were clearly written, and a nicely informative packet of brochures, maps, tours, and other useful information was waiting for us upon arrival. Whimsical touches (a lime green mouse-shaped doorstop, for example!) were here and there & made it feel homey for us. The apartment has a beautiful view of the castle (awesome to wake up & see a castle outside one's window) that is close enough that you can see when the chandeliers are lit & hear the pipers, yet distant enough to not be disturbed by buses, noisy crowds, etc. Really appreciated the selection of dishes, condiments, and laundry powder, umbrella, etc. that were left for our use. Very thoughtful! "Comfort" is marked down just slightly because twice during our stay somebody pushed flyers through the mail slot (startled us!) and there is a bit of a stairway that is difficult with luggage, but the inside of the place is lovely. Our hosts even checked in by phone to see if we were satisfied or had any questions. Very sweet!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was super in every aspect: quick walk to the tourist attractions, groceries, quick break during the day, airlink bus and the dramatic castle view from the kitchen window. However, it was away enough from street noise and the building was quiet too which granted quality sleeping.
The booking procedure went smoothly all the way. Tricia and Jan sent me the keys with good instructions and maps in advance, and were kind enough to allow me access a couple of hours earlier straight from the airport. Last evening they even called to check everything had been ok. A number of leaflets of Edinburgh and the instructions concerning the facilities etc. were appreciated.
The apartment had everything I needed and I felt very comfortable there. I recommend it. Perfect for a solo traveller or couples. -

Perfect location if you want to be near the centre but in a not so crowded area, with a great view of the castle.
The house is very clean, with a well equipped kitchen. Perfect for a couple.
No elevator.
Public transportation and super market is in less than 1min walk.
The owners are very polite and very helpful.

for the first time I booked a self-catering living and I was very pleased. everything in the apartment was perfectly planed too provide us with comfort. extra blankets, all one could need in the kitchen and even more in the extra closet such as ironing possibilities.
the only thing I did not like was that in the doublebed there was a blanket for two. a doubleblanket or what the name is. I had preferred two singleblankets, but that might depend with whom one shares the bed with=) my old mother combined with the doubleblanket was not my cup of the=(
otherwise everything was really the best. the location of the apartment is fantastic!! -

We had a wonderful time in Edinburgh and the Grassmarket Studio was the perfect home away from home. We stayed for 11 nights and really began to think of the place as "our home” in Scotland.
The studio has stunning view of Edinburgh Castle and is located right in the center of the historic Old Town. The studio is situated near scores of great pubs and is near a local grocery store. The kitchen is very well stocked with cookware of every type if preparing your own meals is something you want to do. We loved being able to do laundry in the studio: This allowed us to pack light.
Grassmarket Studio was extremely clean and Tricia & Jan have really thought about the comfort of their guests. They are true professionals.
I would stay there again in a heartbeat and cannot wait until I am able to return.

I was looking for a place to stay during the Fringe Festival, for 2 nights. Most of the hotels were fully booked or had sky high prices. Came across the Grass market Studios, chose it because of its locationxprice and I'm really glad about it. Since my first email, Tricia was very helpful. Sent me the keys and directions in advance, by mail. She even sent me and email with suggestions and reviews about the festival, as it was our first time there. The studio is on a very convenient location, close to Edinburgh's main attractions. At night, plenty or bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs are on a short walk away at the Grassmarket area. The studio itself was simple but comfortable and clean, with everything we needed, with beautiful views of the Castle. In fact it was much better than to stay on a hotel, because we fell "at home away from home". Had a great time and recommend it!

We stayed in Grassmarket studio for 3 nights around the Edinburgh Half marathon. We found it well appointed and perfect for our needs. The wifi was a fantastic bonus and it was great to have a nice kitchen with great views. The property was perhaps a little smaller than we envisaged but this is probably down to our own expectations. One small problem we did encounter was the condition of the communal hallways/stairwells. On seperate occasions we we found vomit (which wasn't cleaned) and the contents of a plantpot spread over the walkway. This had nothing to do with the Studio itself of course but just wasn't ideal. I would still wholeheartedly recommened this property to anyone though.

Huge apologies for the dirty stairs! The communal areas are cleaned once a week by a cleaning company, but if we'd known about this we'd have come and cleaned it up ourselves. I recently stayed for four nights at the Grassmarket Studio and it was perfect for what I wanted. It was wonderful to be able to have coffee and breakfast sitting at the kitchen table while admiring Edinburgh Castle out the window.
The bed was comfy and it was spacious for a studio. Location was great, just up the steps to the castle and the Grassmarket area is right there. There is a grocery store just up the street to grab some supplies, which is handy. It was also helpful to be able to do a small load of laundry.
The proximity to the Grassmarket means occasional nighttime noise, but really only on the weekends when the area is packed, and even then, it was only the occasional group of guys briefly yelling.
I would definitely stay here again, the value is good and the location is fantastic. -

Trish at ESC was great to deal with and everything went very smoothly. There was tea, coffee and milk for our arrival, which meant we didn't immediately need to shop. Small supermarket near by but the best thing is the view of the castle and being so close to great areas of Edinburgh.

My teen daughter and I recently spent a few nights here and really appreciated the ease with which we were able to receive directions and keys in advance so when our flight was delayed we weren't stressing about arriving late and having someone waiting on us. The flat is perfectly situated with a splendid view of Edniburgh castle, a supermarket a stone's throw from the apartment and wi-fi! My only issue, despite the apartment being inside the courtyard and not directly facing the street, was the loud yelling and singing of robust young men coming from the pubs in Grassmarket in the wee hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning. The sound just travels up and into the courtyard and through the windows. Ear plugs helped considerably and it wasn't a problem on Sunday as it was Mother's Day and maybe that had an impact on the pub attendance that evening. Otherwise, perfect place to stay and much more comfortable than some hotel. Thank you.

We stayed at Grassmarket Studio for 3 nights over Christmas and it was absolutely perfect. The apartment was very clean and spacious and the bed extremely comfortable, we struggled to get out each morning. It was nice and warm and so close to everything! The view of the castle from the kitchen is gorgeous! It was so quiet...no noisy neighbours and the lady who dealt with our booking (Tricia) was really helpful and friendly. We felt like the place was our second home. When my partner and I come back to Edinburgh we'll be sure to stay at Grassmarket Studio. Everything was perfect!

Very well situated and a magnificent view of Edimburgh Castle.
