Great Location and Perfect Vacation Apartment
Columbia, South Carolina, USAGreat Location and Perfect Vacation apartment
Left on 06/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Eddie Ewen treated me like a special friend throughout the rental process. From the beginning of my first inquiry to arriving at the the Penthouse Eddie was helpful. We were so pleasantly surprised at the many amenities which our host provided for us to make our stay in Edinburgh a memorable one. In all of my experiences renting a vacation property, his service to his rental clients was by far the best I have every received.
Cleanliness is an issue with me and The Penthouse was among the cleanest of any vacation rental I have ever rented. A rental unit must be clean for me to relax and enjoy myself. This unit is indeed clean and I felt as if I were in my own home. Included in the apartment are detailed instructions on how to use the appliances such as the washer/dryer and dishwasher. The Penthouse is superbly furnished and comfortable and Eddie will do everything to make your stay great!
We were in Edinburgh as tourists and connecting to the Old Town and New Town areas was important. The apartment is located about two to three short blocks and an easy walk from a main thoroughfare where we were able to connect with public transportation and taxis. Both grocery stores and restaurants were within easy walking distance. We found the location to be quite convenient.
Future renters must be aware that there is no lift and that you must carry your luggage to the third floor.
We hope to return to Edinburgh and The Penthouse will be where we stay.

The Penthouse delivered on everything for us. We found the owners wonderful to deal with. The Penthouse was very clean and had everything that we could possibly want. This would be a great apartment for families, or pairs of adults traveling together. Comfortable beds, lots of movies to choose from and fully equipped kitchen to call home for a short stay.

An excellent rental spacious and very clean. Well laid out, three good bedrooms with tv's. Master bedroom has a nice ensuite. Kitchen is well equipped. In the sitting room there are lots of Dvds . Parking is easy and you can then just walk into Princess Street. There are lots of places for food nearby and a multiplex cinema.
Contacting Eddie was easy and he was quick to respond to any emails I sent him. He gave lots of extra information and provided an excellent service. -

Our recent stay at The Penthouse was our second visit there. The location is perfect for exploring Edinburgh, especially on foot, as just a 10 min walk from Princess Street and the Royal Mile. The facilities and service received are first class. As a family of 6, there was plenty of room for us all. The presentation and room set up was exactly as we had requested. If a quiet night in is what you want, this is also the perfect place. A nice peaceful location, right in the city. Local shops and resteraunts around the corner. Couldn't really ask for any more. Terrific service and help from the owner/landlord during all aspects of booking. A return to The Penthouse is guaranteed.

Our daughter was studying abroad in the Fall semester at St. Andrews University. My husband, our two teenaged sons and I flew over from our house in Texas to meet her at the Semester Break. We spent a week at The Penthouse including Christmas.
The Ewen's have a beautiful apartment home. Everything we could need including hair dryers, curling irons, soaps, towels, linens, etc were provided in the bathrooms. The kitchen is well appointed. We enjoyed the welcome basket generously filled with breakfast, snack and beverage items. The wine was delicious. The living and dining areas are very comfortable for 6 people. We appreciated having the Dvds and the televisions in the family room as well as the bedrooms.
The area around the apartment is safe feeling day or night. We walked to and from nearby bus stops as well as from the movie theatre. Restaurants are a short walk away.
Eddie was prompt to address any questions we had in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. We felt at ease using appliances etc. in the apartment because of all the manuals and extra guidance provided to help you use everything properly and safely.
The Ewen's provide guests with an impressive assortment of guidebooks at the apartment as well as sending clients with a well appreciated list of websites, restaurant recommendations, theatre locations, etc.
We had a rental car, so we appreciated the free parking spaces in the lot convenient to the building in the apartment complex.
We toured around Edinburgh on bus, taxi, and the hop on hop off tourist bus. It was easy to drive into the apartment as well as to the airport and farther out into the countryside.
We have been staying in private homes or apartments in Europe since 1999. The Penthouse is one of our all-time favorites. -

I recently stayed in The Penthouse with seven other girlfriends for a reunion/special birthday weekend and The Penthouse was just perfect for our needs. Beautifully presented with everything you need for a trouble free stay. Ideally located for Edinburgh centre and all it has to offer.
The owners bent over backwards to make sure we enjoyed our time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any one - whatever the occasion. All in all a perfect city apartment. -

The owners' personal and prompt attention from the moment of inquiry promised an outstanding experience; we were not disappointed. The size, layout, and facilities were perfect for our group of eight, which ranged in age from 10 months to nearly 70. Nearby markets--from small shops to gourmet fare--as well as excellent carry-out options within a five-minute walk made it possible to have nearly all meals in the well-appointed Penthouse without missing out on local flavors and culture. The middle generation also had a great night out within easy walking distance. The nearby playground and easy bus to the zoo were a plus; the walk to Holyrood and Royal Mile was pleasant for those who like to explore on foot. The owners go out of their way to make guests comfortable--and even pampered.

A clean, spacious, well-designed, tastefully & contemporary furnished apartment awaits you. You are staying in the family's second home and you know it by the amenities, household & linen supplies, appliances, furniture, cleanliness, and maintenance. We appreciated the few necessary, laminated instructions (especially for the washer-dryer combination). The owners are the nicest people I have never met: They provided help to us, for a medical issue, that certainly was beyond our imaginations. The thoughtful, helpful, accommodating owners combined with their quality lodging created an excellent and exceptional experience for us.

This apartment is in a quiet residential area but close to the cinema, restaurants and two supermarkets and only a 15 minute walk to Princess Street. Parking for two cars is a real plus in Edinburgh where even the top hotels cannot always provide this. The apartment is very well furnished with rooms that were much larger than we expected. The decor is elegant and gives a luxurious feel to the accomodation The kitchen is particularly well equipped and with everything so pristine that we hardly dared to use it! However the greatest thing about the Penthouse is that the owners Eddie and Doreen really try to ensure that their guests have a wonderful stay.

Our family recently stayed at the Penthouse for 3 nights during our visit to the U.K. and we all wished that we could have stayed longer. If you look at all the other reviews you can see that this place is really special! The apartment is roomy, clean, nicely decorated and conveniently located. It is a short walk to most of the major attractions in Edinburgh. There are several restaurants and shops close by and the area seemed very safe. We had driven to Edinburgh, but did not want to drive around town and the free parking spaces provided were much appreciated.
Believe me, just about everything that you could possibly need is at the Penthouse, and Mr Ewen was unbelievably helpful in both planning our stay and making sure we would be happy with our choice of accommodation in Edinburgh. Not to mention the lovely welcome basket.
If you want a comfortable, luxurious, and memorable stay in Edinburgh, stay at the Penthouse, you will not be disappointed. I would definitely return ! -

Far more than just owners of The Penthouse, these very kind and gracious Scots make every possible effort to ensure that their guests have a wonderful time in a country of which they are tremendously proud, and about which they are incredibly knowledgeable. Prior to our journey they provided us every possible resource imaginable, from transportation to cultural, academic to culinary. They ensured that we were connected with ground transportation in Edinburgh, that we knew which plays were on in which theaters, how to secure time slots to see the Giant Pandas at the Edinburgh Zoo, which restaurants were kid-friendly, and the daily opening hours for the museums.
The Penthouse is very well-appointed, with all the amenities we needed. Comfortable living spaces with loads of windows and great light. Six of us could gather at the end of the day, stretch out and relax together and talk, read or watch television. The eat-in kitchen is wonderful, seating six at the table easily for breakfast with great morning light pouring in. The floor plan is terrific, especially for families with children - no one is too far away.
The location was also terrific. Right in the heart of it all, a two-minute walk to the grocery, another two-minutes to Leith Walk, five minute's walk to the theater, and everything in the City accessible either by foot or bus (which was moments away from the flat). My kids really enjoyed playing in Hopetoun Crescent Park, a minute's walk from the flat.
We had a wonderful experience all around.

Initially, I thought the location of The Penthouse would be the best thing about it--walking distance to many attractions, accessibility to public transport, yet in a quiet neighborhood. The best thing turned out to be the consideration of our host, Mr. Ewen. Due to plane delays, it took us almost two days to get there. We were all travel weary and hungry, but we found a stocked kitchen, clean bathrooms, and soft beds. In the light of day, there wasn't anything we found lacking, but found many more treats. My favorite room was the fully equipped kitchen--from the Le Creuset, crystal glasses and teapot to the garlic press, olive oil, potato peeler, and soup spoons. Everything was there including sugar, salt and pepper, dish soap, laundry detergent and fabric softener. There really wasn't anything lacking. The Penthouse is a bright and homey place to be when you are away from home. We felt at home-- a feeling that is hard to replicate, but achieved at the Penthouse. I hope to return one day.

Our youngest daughter lives in Edinburgh so we decided to fly ourselves and 2 other adult children over for Christmas. We spent the week at The Penthouse and couldn't have been more delighted with the accommodations!
Eddie Ewen, the owner, contacted us immediately upon our inquiry and was incredibly helpful, providing restaurant, entertainment, sightseeing and car hire recommendations. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome basket of wine, coffee, tea, shortbread, eggs, bacon, sausage, milk, bread and jam so we didn't have to worry about running out for groceries immediately.
The flat is an easy 5 min walk to the center of the city. There are nearby restaurants and grocery stores.
The flat itself is outfitted as your home would be. Flat screen Tv's in all bedrooms, large living room with Plasma TV, DVD player and hundreds of Dvd's. We cooked Christmas dinner and every utensil one could want was provided. I am lusting after a Bosch range after using the one in the Penthouse.
If you are journeying to Edinburgh, this is the place to stay. It is truly a home away from home! -

As a special trip, my mother, father, sister and I travelled to Scotland and Paris. It had been about 25 years since our last family vacation so it was quite an event that we all looked forward to. We enjoyed every minute of it and were especially happy with the experience at "The Penthouse". The owners were fantastic - Eddie even called several times before our visit to offer suggestions on restaurants and scenic routes. It was the highlight of our stay and we would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone. There was a short walk to the Castle with many little shops and restaurants en route. The apartment was comfortable, clean, quiet and well decorated. A must if you're looking for a great place to stay in Edinburgh!

My husband and I brought our children to Edinburg in april 2011. We were looking for an apartment that was conveniently located with all the comforts of home. This place didn't disappoint! It was a little off the beaten path, but with a 5 to 10 minute walk (we had 3 small kids in tow) you had everything you needed within your reach. There were bus lines to take you to any place in the city you wanted to go as well. From planning our trip to our arrival Mr Ewen made us feel welcome. He was in contact before our arrival, making sure we had all the info to give us a fantastic vacation.
Once we arrived, the apartment was perfect. There was a large collection of Dvds for the children, some games and a few toys for them as well. He had put some food in the fridge for us so we didn't have to shop immediately after we arrived. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. We had everything we needed to cook dinner at night and make breakfast each morning.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Edinburgh. I don't think you'll find anything better especially for the price. -

From the moment Mr Ewens telephoned to assist with my booking enquiry, I had complete confidence in his integrity. He and his wife dealt swiftly and smoothly with absolutely everything we could have needed prior to our holiday. The Penthouse is a comfortable, well appointed apartment located in a quiet but central position in Edinburgh. We mostly walked everywhere we wanted to go. The safe, free, adjacent parking for two cars is an invaluable feature of the property. Being at the top of the building makes for a quiet and safe atmosphere. Importantly, everything at The Penthouse is in splendidly well-maintained working order -so important when you need a home from home environment.
The welcome basket and fridge supplies were an unexpected treat. The apartment is spotlessly clean with modern furnishings. There is a file of instruction booklets on how the appliances work and plenty of information on local attractions in and around Edinburgh. We particularly liked the way that Mr. Ewens had thought about all aspects of our stay, which made our arrival/departure a smooth operation. We have stayed in Edinburgh in august for three consecutive years in different rented properties. For us, The Penthouse was our best experience. The user-friendly Penthouse with its easy parking was great, and the Ewens' friendly efficiency was a pleasure to deal with. The Penthouse cost less to rent than our previous 3-bedroom plus sofabed apartments, which were both Georgian houses rather than modern - and the showers at The Penthouse were excellent!! - so much better than the others we've experienced. Provided you can cope with climbing some stairs, I would have no hesitation in recommending The Penthouse to anyone. -

The Penthouse was great. There were five of us and we had plenty of room, very comfortable. it was like being at home in a foreign country. Very close to stores and an easy walk to many tourist attractions. Quiet neighborhood.
No need to go out for breakfast, we ate before leaving for the day. we also cooked dinner several nights.
We walked many times up to the castle and shops.
Eddie Ewen provided us with so much information we were able to book tours in advance. If we had any questions he answered immediately.
My daughter likes to make jewelry and Eddie provided us with the names and addresses along with directions to several bead shops . We visited one of the bead shops and she did
purchase beads. (Not your everyday request)
We had names of 'Meet and Greet' folks to pick us up at the airport. That worked great.

Good value for money, an excellent, well finished, clean, spacious apartment, almost like home from home, with a very, very good service provider/owner in Eddie Ewen.
I work for a Consultancy in Cornwall, England which carries out annual work in Edinburgh each year. The company I work for has been coming back to the Penthouse on an annual basis for the last 8 years now. Every time we have stayed at the Penthouse it has been very clean, tidy, well presented with Eddie Ewen offer excellent guest service.
The area the Penthouse is situated in is very clean, tidy, safe and also quiet considering it is just about in the centre of Edinburgh. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre of Edinburgh.
Provided in the apartment are a ranging of Tourist guide brochures (not just in English) as well as Eddies own guide on local restaurants, take-aways, supermarkets, shops, cafes, attractions, trips in and outside of Edinburgh, etc.
The kitchen has a large range of the standards things i.e. cutlery, plates, toaster etc. Also provided are thing such as a blender, tub-aware, George Foremans Grills, etc.
Throughout the apartment Eddie has also provided clear laminated intrusions sheets regarding the use of the Tv's, Cable TV, Kitchen equipment (blender, etc). Details of local doctors, dentists, instruction manuals for the washing machine, Tv's etc are all provided.
There are a large range of items ranging from a wide selection of DVD, Music Cd's, board games, Tv's in every bedroom, children's high chair and to finish it off, a welcome gift pack.
I would recommend the Penthouse to almost anyone from any part of the world wishing to visit Edinburgh, from groups ranging from 2 to 7, if it be for a weekend to for a few weeks, ranging from couples, families or groups of friends.
For what the Penthouse is and the services Eddie Ewen offers its price is very good value for money. As I said previously, we have been coming back for the last 8 years! -

My family (4 adults and one 4 year old) spent four nights at "The Penthouse." It was nicely furnished, very clean and well-maintained. It was located in a nice section of town and walking distance to everything. Mr. Ewen provided us with lots of information about Edinburgh before our arrival. He had a wonderful welcome basket waiting for us. In addition, he had placed breakfast items in the refrigerator along with cofee and tea. What a thoughtful thing to do.

From our first enquiry we felt like welcomed guests. The flat lived up to expectations. It was fitted out with quality fittings. The kitchen was a delight to cook in. I enjoy cooking and found everything needed. It was helpful to have all the instructions handy in a folder.
We had a four month old baby with us and a cot, highchair and other things were provided.
As we were in Edinburgh for a family lunch we were out and about a lot and found the location ideal. So near all the central attractions, local food shopping and buses nearby. the car parking permit to park in the complex was a great help. The taxi number was in a folder when we needed it to go to the lunch.
The stairs might not suit everyone, but we found them fine. We just unpacked the car in stages as we had a lot of luggage with having a baby and did the same for packing it up.
The beds were so comfortable that our daughter in law wanted the know the make. the storage space for clothes was generous. The ensuite showere room and family bathroom were well fitted out, user friendly and the towels were good quality.
The sound systems and TVs were amazing, not that we had much time to watch as there were so many things to do, but we particulalary enjoyed relaxing on the leather settee on two sides of the room.
Apart from the usual tourist sites of Edinburgh, there is a lot to do around and the sea is well worth a visit. -

The apartment was a great place for our family to stay while we visited Edinburgh. The location was perfect for walking around town, and came with a parking spot. We were travelling with two children, two parents and a grand-parent. The apartment had enough room for all of us. We enjoyed the comfortable living room and kitchen. The owner of the property was extrememly helpful, giving us great ideas for our trip and even sending an extra key to where we were staying in Wales when we discovered we had left the original he had sent in Canada.

My family and I traveled to Scotland from the U.S. in Spring of 2009, and deciding to stay at Mr. Ewen's property, The Penthouse, in Edinburgh was the perfect way to start our travels. Our experience really started about a month earlier when I sent a request for information about the property. Less than a day later, I received a call from Scotland and it was Mr. Ewen cheerfully greeting and informing me about the property and the service he provides. And yes, I do mean service.
Mr. Ewen has truly taken the duties of managing this property as a labor of love and it shows. From the moment we decided to rent his property, Mr. Ewen emailed and mailed us information on the property, how to get there, what was around, information on tourist sights, and much more. I kept in contact with him throughout our preparation for our trip, and, considering we were traveling with a 2-year old, Mr. Ewen fielded all our questions and concerns.
Once we arrived at Hopetoun Street, the Penthouse truly felt like a home away from home. It is a location off the beaten path that has everything one could need. The furnishings were exquisite. The amenities fabulous. Mr. Ewen provided tourist information, a list of key locations in the neighborhood, and even a DVD collection.
While we were there, we truly felt like we were living as residents of this wonderful city. The thought that has gone into The Penthouse and the service Mr. Ewen provided from the time we decided to rent his property allowed us to feel at home in a place we had never visited. That basically speaks for itself. We definitely recommend this property, but you may need to beat us to it in the future. -

We travelled as a family of 5 adults and 2 small children so required a homely environment for our stay. Eddie and Doreen exceeded our expectations by providing a home away from home in an exquisite penthouse apartment complete with welcoming gifts and food. Their attention to detail was outstanding and the local advice they provided was most welcome and practical. We can't wait to go back there again. The Penthouse in Edinburgh is one of the most treasured memories from all our travels.

Having booked the penthouse for 3 couples for 10 days initially to see a six nations international between Wales and Scotland in Feb 2008, we took in a lot of sightseeing. (Edinburgh is a wonderful city) and Sterling and the Trossacks.
The Penthouse was so homely, comfortable and relaxing we stayed in most evenings. On the evenings we went out, we went to the Edinburgh Playhouse, because of the location of the penthouse. (300 yards)
If we ever visit Scotland again we will be certainly be staying at the penthouse if it is available. We needed to book 12 months in advance to secure the Penthouse, with it's high standards and location, it is a very much sought after flat. Thank you Eddie and Doreen for making us feel so welcome. The Penthouse was perhaps the highlight of our visit as the friends who travelled with us are still talking about it.
Many Thanks and we wish you both the very best in the future,

It was just such a comfortable apartment, excellent facilities, plenty of room with plenty to do. Within driving distanceof all the tourist attractions. Top classaccommodation!! Me and all my family really enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh and the accommodation made our stay perfect. It's in a great location and by having parking also you can choose wether to walk 10 min into town or drive further a field.
The apartment is decorated and furnished tastefully. It has all the modcons you might need, big telly, DVD, dishwasher, washing machine.
The personal service you recieve from Mr Ewen is excellent. He makes booking and organising your trip very simple and the welcome gift on arrival is lovely. The apartment is full of information on places to visit and Mr Ewen will also help and advise you on anything.
The only negative point I could make would be the two flights of stairs up to the penthouse which were fine for us but our elderly relative found them hard work.

We, a group of 5 girls, searched for a nice apartment for our trip to Edinburgh. And found the Penthouse on internet. Having great expectations for the trip we arrived in the Penthouse late one night. And the apartment appeared to be as luxurious as it looked in the photos on internet. Spacious and with all the appliances that u need for a pleasant weekend. The owner, Eddie, had been kind enought to provide us with various tips for excursions and restaurants before we came.He had also provided the apartment with some groceries, coffee, wine etc. All worked out really well and the communication with the owner both before and during our stay was very pleasant. I can recommend anyone to stay in the apartment if u want some luxury during your stay in Edinburgh. I enjoyed my stay there so much that I brought a new group of friends over again in September. They loved it just as much as my friends did on my first trip. Thanks to Eddie for renting out this lovely apartment. This made our trip to this beautiful city really comfortable.

This is wonderful accommodation. The booking service is very efficient and friendly, the spacious apartment is very conveniently situated- with car parking which is always a bonus in Edinburgh -and beautifully appointed with all the appliances that you could possibly need. We appreciated the fact that there was plenty of room for 6 adults and a baby - with all the baby equipment provided. This is a Penthouse apartment so there are stairs to be climbed - not difficult but this should be borne in mind.

I celebrated my 50th Birthday with 7 friends at 'The Penthouse'. I explained to the owner, Eddie Ewen, that I wanted to book in advance for things like airport transfers, restaurants and theatre tickets. Over the months leading up to our trip Eddie provided what can only be described as a full Concierge Service, providing information and contact numbers for everything I needed.
'The Penthouse' itself exceeded my expectations. It contains every luxury and convenience necessary, and even though it is decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard, we felt completely at ease and relaxed. As a group of 8, we used every bed, including the sofa bed in the lounge, which slept 2 comfortably. We cooked a number of meals and found nothing lacking in the kitchen equipment.
'The Penthouse' is superbly located for all the main attractions, being genuinely within easy walking distance for restaurants, shops and theatre. The Castle is a short bus ride away.
We had a fabulous trip and left intending to return at some time in the future. -

The owner went to great lengths before and during our stay to ensure that we had all the help and information we needed. The apartment was delightful and beautifully furnished, the kitchen well-equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms of a high standard. The property was well situated for public transport to the main attractions of Edinburgh and there were local shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Its position on the second floor gives the apartment an airy and pleasantly unrestricted outlook, but since there is no lift the transport of luggage and shopping may present a difficulty for some.

My family and I have returned to The Penthouse over the course of 8 years not only because of the consistently excellent accommodation but because it is located with extremely easy access to whatever Edinburgh has to offer. And, Eddie maintains a wonderful three-ring binder which is a compilation (an annotated list really) of activities, restaurants, sights, etc. in Edinburgh as well as in other parts of Scotland. In addition I've always appreciated both the sense of privacy and the knowledge that if I need or want to ask a question all I have to do is send an email or pick up the phone and Eddie is there to help. The flat is pristine, it's esthetics are wonderful, the building is quiet and if you have older children who want to be independent and strike out on their own you can rest easy because the neighborhood is safe.

The Penthouse is all you could hope for and more, great location ( we left the car in the car park and walked as everything so close by) comfortable, clean and plenty of space to accomodate us all with ease. Toronto, CanadaFantastic accommodations and simply could not be any better
Left on 12/01/2010 for a stay in June 2010
First and foremost, starting with my initial inquiry, the owner (Eddie) was extremely responsive, professional and helpful in providing guidance on all elements of our trip. This included advice on tours, our itinerary, restaurants and the alternative means of transportation from Glasgow, which was our point of arrival in Scotland. We ultimately used the driver he recommended to take us to the Penthouse and he was definitely a gem. As a host and owner, I can not imagine how Eddie could have been more helpful and welcoming; he was simply amazing. We were welcomed to the Penthouse with a basket full of wonderful Scottish goodies and the refrigerator stocked with eggs, bacon, orange juice, milk, bread, jams and butter. A surprise we certainly enjoyed, particularly after a long journey.
The accommodations were absolutely wonderful and suited our purpose perfectly, far better than a hotel. Everything was as promised with a high standard of furnishings, all of the necessary conveniences and exceptionally clean. Our group truly enjoyed the comforts of the Penthouse and everyone was extremely pleased with the accommodations. The location was great as it was a pleasant walk of approximately 10-15 minutes to the city center and attractions but also a suitable distance away from the noise of main streets. It was also a very short walk to a number of pubs, restaurants and a convenience store. While not an issue for our group of four aged 53 to 74, there are two flights of stairs up to the Penthouse and a third flight once inside which may prove strenuous for some. While the owner sincerely welcomes constructive feedback in looking for ways to improve, our group struggled to come up with any meaningful suggestions as our expectations were met or exceeded in every instance. We had a truly outstanding experience.

From the outset, the owner Eddie was quick to respond to any queries regarding the apartment and helpfully provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the apartment and local areas. He continually stayed in contact with us right up until we departed australia.
The apartment is just lovely, decorated beautifully, clean inside (the photos of the apartment are very accurate) and it is fitted with everything that you could possibly need for a short or long stay. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. Our teenage children had a great time and especially loved the plasmas/dvd players in their bedrooms. A surprise gift basket with lovely scottish items was very much appreciated and unexpected.
It isn't too far to walk to attractions (we walked to Palace of Holyrood House, up the Royal Mile and to shopping centres/cinemas) and there are plenty of cabs etc nearby if you prefer to use these instead. There are alot of quality restaurants and pubs nearby, as well as take out stores. There is also a local Tesco's Express within 5 minutes walk nearby but this is pretty small and only stocks the essentials.
Our family had such a wonderful stay there that we didn't want to leave and look forward to hopefully returning one day again. -

My husband and I spent a week in The Penthouse with our 2 1/2 year old daughter. We had just spent 8 days in Paris prior to arriving in Edinburgh, and could not quit thinking about our comfortable sofa and bed waiting for us at home. However, The Penthouse was the most relaxing place we've ever stayed while traveling. Everything we could possibly need had been anticipated and provided. The sofa and beds even surpassed my husband's comfort test, which is no small feat, and our daughter enjoyed the full-size bathtub. I highly recommend The Penthouse for families or couples looking to relax in comfort and luxury. We will not hesitate to stay here again.
