Located at the top of the Royal Mile within easy walking distance of the Castle, the Scottish Whisky Experience, the Camera Obscura and many excellent restaurants such as the Witchery, Odine, the Outsider and many more
Blackie House was built around 1680 in what was at the time the highest building in Europe, the worlds first skyscraper. Many artist have enjoyed living here over the years and have added murals to the walls and left behind some of their artwork.

The 3 of us stayed at Blackie House for 4 nights in april. This was our favorite place of the many we visited. The location was perfect. We walked to almost everything, and when we needed a bus or train, they were a short walk away. The bathroom and kitchen had everything we needed, and the grocery was just a little walk down the hill. The sofa and chairs were pretty well shot, so it was a bit of a challenge to get out of them, but the character, history and location of this rental more than makes up for that.

I have just had a week's holiday at Blackie House. absolutely fabulous place. Wonderful location, couldn't be more central. the flat itself was beautifully furnished - very comfy beds and fabulous shower! Free reliable wifi. the owner has left a potted history of the flat which was extremely interesting, especially the story about the tomatoes - hilarious!! Although the flat is on the 4th floor, there is a lift (although not one for the claustrophobic!) I can't recommend this flat highly enough, I I would certainly stay there again. Really really lovely.

Blackie House was everything we expected and more. The building, with its history and location, is charming. We loved the old-timey lift that took us up to the colorful and cozy apartment. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were large, and the kitchen was well-enough equipped to put together a spaghetti dinner one evening. The shower was excellent and the washing machine, although a challenge with its German language instructions, worked well. Katie was a pleasure to work with, and her colleague, Jack, gave us a thorough tour and warm welcome when we arrived. We were impressed with the nice touches like fresh fruit, milk and coffee, and shortbread cookies that were left for our enjoyment. The location could not have been any better. Within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see. Surrounded by historical sights, restaurants, and shops. Blackie House helped make our trip to Edinburgh memorable indeed.

Ho soggiornato in questo appartamento insieme a 3 amici per 3 giorni a fine aprile inizio maggio 2012...che dire?!?scelta azzeccatissima...padrona di casa gentilissima e disponibilissima, mi ha chiamato più volte per darmi le varie informazioni turistiche che avevo richiesto al mio arrivo!L'appartamento è in pieno centro, in un palazzo storico, ristrutturato ma è stata conservata la sua antichità ed autenticità...in questo modo riesce a farti vievere pienamente la splendida atmosfera di questa magica città!Ci sono tutte le comodità, riscaldamento è ok e wi-fi gratuita...anche se con una password chilometrica!Letti comodissimi e stanza pulite e spaziose...parquet scricchiolante ma ancora più caratteristico...esci e sei a due passi dal Castello ed inoltre c'è anche un bellissimo panorama dalle stanze...che dire...la consiglio vivamente!!!Ps: l'ascensore è mitica...eheheh...vedrete!!!

The apartment in Blackie House is spacious, comfortable, warm, very well equipped and clean. There is a good service lift which helps moving bags to the fourth floor. It has a wonderful view of Edinburgh across Princes St to the River Tay. Its central location is very good for old town exploring, and eating places. Katie the owner was always available for help and advice if we needed it. We would definitely stay in the apartment again or any of their other accommodation.

This was one of the nicest city holiday accommodations I have ever stayed in. It is such a historic building and you can feel the history of the place as you climb the stone staircase. The views of Princes Street Gardens will take your breath away. I stayed in the master bedroom of this house which was magnificent. I wasn't expecting the best facilities in such an old building but the shower was always hot with a nice strong flow and the kitchen had everything you could need. The living room was nice and cosy with ample room for 5 people. It was also very central with a lovely little restaurant 2 minutes away where we had breakfast. The castle is practically like your backyard as it's so close. Very impressed overall and will definitely be recommending it to all my friends.
