Maybole, South AyrshireGolden Wedding Celebrations at Toftcombs House
Left on 05/18/2012 for a stay in April 2012
The service we recieved from start to finish was excellent. The only down side was an overnight problem with part of the central heating system which was rectfied the next afternoon. That type of problem could happen to any system.
Toftcombs fitted our size of party, 17 and 2 small children, very well. The Dinning Hall with its long table was able to accommodate everybody at the same time, which was unique. The snooker room with its full size table was an immediate attraction for the men. The open fires were a bonus and gave off good heat. The smaller of the 2 lounges was great for the children to be able to watch their Dvds etc.
The kitchen area was massive and very well equipped even down to achoice of gas cooker or an aga which was great for those that wanted a cooked breakfast at various times. One of our party was a professional Chef and was able to produce a remarkable celebration dinner.
The area was very convenient being in walking distance of the local town of Biggar. We were luck with the weather but we would not have been bored if the heavens had opened.
At one time this property had been a lived in family home and that came across well and was what I liked best. The only downn side was having to leave. My 4 1/2 yr old grandson did not want to leave,

We recently rented Toftcombs house for a family celebration. It was just perfect from the sunshine on arrival & Claire's helpfulness to the suitability for all ages of the house. Our dogs came too and they were home from home in front of the aga.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a large house, close to amenities with the scale to accomodate all ages. -

LondonAmazing weekend!
Left on 04/24/2012 for a stay in April 2012
I found this property online, and it turned out to be the perfect location for my brother's upmarket stag weekend - and it would certainly work for similar events, or family get-togethers etc.
Toftcombs is a luxury 11-bedroom mansion in the Scottish countryside, furnished with beautiful antiques, with two huge kitchens, several reception rooms and dining rooms, and more bathrooms than I could count! The photos on the website really didn't do this property justice - there is a real old-world elegance in every room.
Claire, the owner, met us to check us in and give us a quick tour of the property, which was very kind of her. We were then left to our own devices for the weekend, as we were self-catering (though catering is available if desired). Everything ran seamlessly, and the owner helped us contact local companies to arrange various activities, including archery on the lawn, which was excellent. Edinburgh is only 40mins taxi away for people wanting a night in the city. Biggar is a small village 5 minutes walk away, which has several supermarkets, local stores and pubs. Despite this, you really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, which is a lovely feeling!
I could not recommend this property highly enough - we all had an incredbile weekend, and will certainly be back again. -

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the luxurious Toftcombs Mansion. The house is fabulously decorated yet homely. The Butler Isaac was a much appreciated addition to our stay and he couldn't have been more helpful or professional. I would thoroughly reccommend staying here be it for business or pleasure. I can't wait for the next occasion to book time at Toftcombs!

Perth, AustraliaAn holiday experience that exceeded all expectations!
Left on 08/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011
After many months of research and then the many months of planning for our week our Toftcombs we couldn't have been more over-awed and over-joyed at our wonderful home for the week! From the minute we arrived we knew we'd picked the perfect place, complete with elegance, comfort and every convenience we could possibly need. So much thought has been put into setting the House up, with so many special touches.
From the beginning Claire couldn't have been more helpful, promptly answering question after question. So even though we were liaising across many miles - Australia to Scotland - she made it easy.
There were recommendations for delivery of food for our first night, grocery ordering, butler service for a formal dinner at Toftcombs. Every recommendation was spot on!
Claire ended up having to wait longer than expected for the first of our group to arrive - which was very much appreciated.
Anyone staying at Toftcombs would be blown away by the experience as we were. Very highly recommended!
Thanks so much Claire!!

BathA wonderful venue
Left on 06/06/2011 for a stay in May 2011
I fully and wholeheartedly recommend Toftcombs. The house and grounds are superb and the internet pictures, whilst great, do not do the property justice.
Anyone wishing to play the Laird for a while should look no further.
The owner and staff provide a wonderful stress free process for booking, checkin & checkout - all truly professional. -

Left on 05/23/2011 for a stay in March 2011
This house is incredible and in excellent condition. Often houses like this are clean but a little run down but the entire Toftcombs accommodation was in excellent first rate condition. Everyone had a tremendous time during our stay. Claire and her mother Diane were very organised and a pleasure to deal with, thanks very much.

Jacksonville, Florida, USAMost Amazing Family Trip Ever...
Left on 05/24/2010 for a stay in June 2009
My husband and I, with our 2 boys (ages 9 and 11), spent several days at Toftcombs House last summer. Toftcombs looked beautiful in pictures but, honestly, pictures did not do it justice! I would descibe this "castle" (as my kids call it) as understated elegance - so tastefully decorated with beautiful furnishings and wonderful, original paintings. Yet, despite its elegance, Toftcombs could not have been more comfortable and inviting. It is located in a countryside setting that will take your breath away. I will always remember our boys learning to play cricket, rugby and "football" on the beautiful fields in front of the house with the horses, sheep and green hills in the background. Thank you Andertons for the most amazing trip ever!

LichfieldExcellent House, Fantastic Service
Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in April 2010
Dealing with the owner was a pleasure, she was polite, very helpful, and extremely response to all my requests. Upon arrival all my quests commented on how beautiful the house was and what a great garden and view the property had.
The first evening we found the house became floodlit after 8pm which was wonderful. Our 1st nights evening meal was enhanced by being able to light a real fire in the front dinning room.
Over the weekend we found the house and accomodation to be of a high standard and many of our party expressed a strong interest to return. I feel happy to have found and picked such a wonderful property to stay in. The fact that my quests wanted to retiurn also speaks volumes for the quality and ambiance of this property.
Many thanks, I will be visiting again:)

Edinburgh/LondonA comfortable and theatrical house
Left on 04/30/2010 for a stay in May 2009
We've used the house on two occasions to run a house-party style corporate course and are returning for a third visit. It's very peaceful and comfortable with lots of good spaces for meetings. There's also a great theatricality to the house with its links with Glasdstone, the galleried hall, the billiards room and the interesting artwork all around. Particularly good for a creative gathering.
Rental and back up service has always been painless. -

'A Luxury Country Mansion' is certainly an accurate description for this property.I go away twice a year in the UK together with my wife and seven other couples, staying in large self catering country houses around the country.I would rate Toftcombs as one of the best,if not the best.It is a very comfortable house, well furnished and equipped, with plenty of space. I imagine the owners use the house themselves as it has that'lived in'feel and everything you need is to hand, which is unusual in self catering properties. You are certainly aware of the owners attention to detail. It is well placed for touring and is only 45 minutes from Edinburgh and Glasgow. If you are looking for a relaxing break and want to spoil yourselves Toftcombs is for you -you will not be disappointed.

experience you can have without actually living in Scotland on a permanent basis. The large home was immaculate yet warm and cozy. Recommend a morning jog from the house to Skirling and back with day trips by car to visit the many castles and coastlines. Simply beautiful!

HertfordshireAn amazing house!
Left on 04/19/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Everything was perfect. The photos are great, but they don't do Toftcombs
justice. This means that there is a "wow" factor as you come up the drive, and
again as you go around the house. The facilities were excellent, and it felt like
like staying in someone's home( albeit a grand home ! )-you could relax
straight away.
We had a local chef provide a casual meal for our first evening, soup and
homemade bread for lunch, and canapes and a formal four course dinner on
the Saturday night, all for 20 people. All the food was excellent.
The location is good. As we were only there for 2 nights, we did not see much.
Nobody wanted to leave at the end, and I would love to go again. -

Houston, Renfrewshire40th Birthday Party
Left on 04/16/2010 for a stay in March 2009
An excellent property to share with friends and family.
Well organised with a friendly helpful owner and staff.
Well equipped kitchen for dinning and dinner parties.
It is a short walk to the village where you can stock up with supplies.
There are some great walks within a short drive i.e. Tinto hill.
We hosted an excellent 40th Birthday party for my wife which my fiends and family still talk about, especially the location.
