We found this place to be well appointed and quite adequate for the two of us. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, with many of the city attractions and tourist resources in walking distance. Unless you are familiar with the city, expect driving and parking to be a major challenge. Wi-fi, tv, and other functional supports are very good.

OsnabrueckA tranquil flat in the hub of Edinburgh's bustling Old Town.
Left on 05/10/2013 for a stay in May 2013
If your looking for peaceful, quiet accommodation in the middle of Edinburgh, then look no further. Just off the Canongate and a few minutes walk from Calton Hill & the east end of the New Town. If your not up to cooking in the kitchen, plenty of choices to eat out be it Fish & chips or a traditional Pub Lunch.
The flat is ideal for 2 people, but can easily accommodate three. Handover & takeover went without a hitch. Certainly will not be the last time we visit. Believe me this little gem is hard to beat. I should know I originally come from Edinburgh. -

NottinghamLovely Stay in Tolbooth Wynd
Left on 04/08/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed here for 6 days in the middle of March 2013. Edinburgh used to be our home town so we were back to visit friends and relatives and the flat's central position with an underground car park was just ideal. We were greeted by Dave who made us feel welcome and showed us around the lovely property. The flat itself had everything we wanted and more. The reason for only 4 stars rather than 5 is the fact that the underground car park was very dirty and uncared for and the lift from it up to the apartments did not work properly. We were only on the ground floor so were able to use the stairs but had we been on a higher floor, or if one of us had been disabled, it would have been difficult. My husband actually did manage to get the lift to work by pressing a higher floor button and then, once the lift door's had closed, immediately pressing the one for the ground floor; otherwise the lift doors kept opening and closing and the lift stayed put. The floor of the lift was dirty and unswept for the whole of our stay. Presumably the owners pay a fairly substantial service charge; they need to check that all services are being carried out. Apart from this, the flat is lovely and the location perfect for Central Edinburgh. You can get a bus but actually you don't really need to as Princes Street is only about 10 minutes walk. You can easily walk up the Royal Mile to the Castle or down to Holyrood Palace and arthur's Seat. It's very handy for both the train station and airport buses. Well worth it and sooo much better than a hotel.

This is a great apartment in a good location. The bed is particularly comfortable although the bedroom is quite small. The kitchen is well equipped with thoughtful touches including fresh coffee (a real bonus). The person who greeted us was excellent - welcoming and patient as we arrived later than scheduled! We found the sofa quite uncomfortable but this is a minor detail and didn't detract from the holiday.
Obviously, as this is a ground floor apartment, there is some noise from the first floor flat but this is to be expected. We would be more than happy to return to this compact and bijou little gem.
Thank you very much to the owners.

Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed in one of the Tolbooth apartments, which were in a quiet part of the town but also within a short walking distance of the centre. We managed to visit most of Edinburgh this way. The apartments were clean and we had tea and coffee provided for us during our stay. The apartment was large enough for 3 of us, with a modern bathroom and kitchen. If we visited Edinburgh again, which we would love to do, we would choose the same apartment.

Left on 10/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012
This flat is very well situated, just off the Royal Mile. It's about 15 minute walk to the New Town or the Castle and there's a Leith bus that stops just a 2 minute walk from the flat. As the flat's in its own complex and courtyard it's very quiet, despite being so central.
The decor throughout the flat is lovely - lots of matching cushions, curtains etc. There's a dishwasher and free wi-fi too! It's also a good size with plenty of storage including a fitted wardrobe and a large chest of drawers.
Service was good and we were met very shortly after arrival. However, I do think that the 10am 'check out' time is a bit mean.
Just a couple of negatives... the shower head attachment is very flimsy and needs a bit of attention and the sofa isn't the comfiest, but everything else was good quality.
I would stay again, and I recommend it to others. -

Perfect spot to get to all the attractions we wanted to see. Has underground parking so no extra expense if bringing the car (though shouldn't need to drive as everything on door step). Appartment did everything it said on the tin, was clean and tidy also. Personal greeting from agent which was a nice touch. Would use this place again.

We rented this property while spending Christmas with our daughter in Cockburn Street, so it was ideally situated, with just enough walk (uphill!) to give us some exercise. Good, central position. It was good value for money because we had an excellent discount for hiring for a week. Comfortably furnished with pleasant, unfussy decor. Service welcoming, not obtrusive. Surprisingly quiet for a property so near the centre - apart from neighbours above one night who seemed to spend all night moving furniture!

Montreal, CanadaEdinburgh my home away from home!
Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011
I love the location - I stayed in another apartment 2 years ago in the same complex. This is why I came back - I love it there - it's so close to the Royal Mile and so accessible to New Town as well. And there's a wee pub, the Tolbooth that my sister and I enjoy!
My one criticism would be the sofa/couch in the living room - it is not at all very comfortable for sitting and relaxing/watching TV. It's very lovely to look at but it's too slippery and you can't really get comfortable. After a long day of working the streets of Edinburgh, you want a comfortable couch to relax.
The bedroom and bed were lovely - the quilt on the bed was very nice indeed!
When I return to Edinburgh (hopefully sooner than later), I will definitely be looking to stay in the same place/area.

Left on 09/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Highly recommend staying at Tolbooth just off the Royal Mile. It is especially good for limited walking, with parking below and a near bus stop up on the mile. We loved the washer/dryer and shower/tub. The bed and living room chair were comfy, but the couch was lumpy. Recommended improvements include instructions for washer/dryer use and a small map of the immediate area (6 blocks) to show grocers.

We traveled with our 18 year old daughter to Edinburgh in June and stayed at the Tolbooth flat. We could not have been happier with the accommodations and location. The place was perfect for our family. We were able to walk to all the sites and the flat itself was clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again. Can't wait to come back!

we stayed nearly a week at the Tolbooth flat. spacious, comfortable...very pleasant experience. We came by rail, and getting there was not a difficult activity. Bringyour walking shoes...and pack light,...and you're fine. We spent four days walking the city...and had a ball. Americans: don't expect the washing machine/dryer combo to work like you're accustomed to. Fortunately, they had a manual, and i needed it. plenty of food opportunities in easy walk too...and our 'keeper' was great. He got us in, got us out...made it easy. Kudos. Thx again.

My husband and I stayed at the apartment and we loved the location!! Its close to everything and it comes with secure parking. The apartment is small but it is all we needed. It was quiet, close to everything, and came with all the amenities. Would most certainly stay at the apartment again whenever we come back to Edinburgh.

Overall, we would say this was an adequate apartment for our expectations. The rooms were fairly small, but everything was quite functional. We saw at least two other apartments that our friends had rented, and these were both more comfortable and stylish. One plus is that the apartment is very convenient to the Royal Mile and tourist sites. You are paying for location. The rental company representative was not willing to meet us at late night or early morning hours, but we were able to leave the keys in the apartment at least.

Perfect location, just off the Royal Mile, the apartment was ideal for our needs whilst in Edinburgh. Everything from start to finish was extremely smooth in terms of booking and check in. The apartment was bright, clean and comfortable and it was great to have the car stowed away in teh underground car park and to hand on the days we needed it. I stupidly left washing in the machine when we left and the company were kind enough to dry my washing and post it back to me! Great service. Thank you.
