Description from the manager

This smart, contemporary apartment is very well located in a lovely private, residential development with allocated parking, just 20 mins walk from the west end of Princes St. On the second floor of a very well-presented easy stair with private entry system, the apartment enjoys a quiet aspect. The spacious, bright rooms are smart and modern with much attention to detail and lovely finishing touches. This is an excellent holiday apartment, well-situated to make the most of all central amenities and attractions.

The Roseburn area has good local facilities including shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and an excellent day/night bus service fo...Read more

Good base in Edinburgh within easy reach of the city centre

Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in May 2013

Very bright, attractive, spacious flat. Ideal base for a week in Edinburgh. Easy parking and plenty of green areas for dogs including nearby park.
Generally very clean although the en suite off the main bedroom could do with some more attention, particularly around the shower area. The single beds in the 2nd bedroom did not feel comfortable. The main bathroom, bedroom and the lounge and kitchen were generally very clean and attractive and we enjoyed our stay.

Very comfortable and convenient once the heating started to work

Left on 02/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We had a nightmare of a first night in the flat - arrived with the temperature in the flat just above freezing because the thermostat was functioning properly until it miraculously kicked in 12 hours after our arrival and worked for the rest of the stay - you have an agreement with the owners that they cover such emergencies well they didn't (they were aware that the thermostat had a tendency not to work but had not done anything about it or left adequate cover for problems before "going away")and you had to step in which we are very grateful for but you are the agents advertising the property and in our view customers should be entitled to expect that emergencies will be covered - at the end of the day it reflects much more badly on you than them to be brutal about it! We are regular customers of yours and have enjoyed so very fine holidays in the Highlands in accommodation let by you - we have a fortnight booked through you in the Cairngorms this June - so we have to say we were disappointed. However the flat was clean, comfortable and well equipped (only quible there the instructions for everything including the TV etc let alone the heating were not adequate by the way even for the technically minded). Thanks again for your support when the owners let us down so badly but I do think you need to think of the effect on your business and your image when owners prove unreliable as I suspect they may do fairly regularly.

      Excellent stay in splendid apartment

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012

I would recommend this apartment - it was clean, well decorated and spacious, with all the things we needed for a week away from home. The beds were firm and extremely comfortable. A query regarding the working of the oven elicited an immediate response from the owner. The block in which it is situated is well maintained and the whole area of several blocks very pleasant.

It is close enough to the city centre to be able to walk but if not, the buses are very regular. There is a local Tesco within a couple of minutes walk as well as other shops - notably a great place to get breakfast.

Many thanks - we had a wonderful holiday.

Excellent Location - nice quiet environemnt

Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Brilliant location only half an hour from the Castle and Royal Mile (and only a few minutes from Murrayfield for Rugby fans!). Also close to the zoo (not that we visited it). Nice quiet environment. I would recommend this flat on location alone.

The Flat itself was very nice although it would benefit from an in-depth spring clean and the the furniture was not the most comfortable.

That aside we had a good time - Castle, Holyrood, Arthurs Seat, Mary Kings Close, The Whisky Experience, trip to Rosslyn Chapel and Glenkinchie Distillery and on the one wash-out day to St andrews. We even lunched aboard Britannia - very civilised.

We had also been pointed in the direction of The albernach on the Royal Mile - 220 whiskies on the menu! We tried a fair few!!!

      Overall a great holiday.

Quite a nice flat. Generally well provisioned but some odd omissions in the kitchen, e.g. no seive or tin-opener. We got the impression that the flat was cleaned by the owner as opposed to a dedicated cleaner, it was a bit tatty around the edges. We could not get the TV to work in the bedroom. I thought the bathroom was fine. This might sound a bit moany but these are not major issues and overall it was fine, would recommend it to others. The rate charged was very fair for July.

      Ideal base for tourists

Left on 07/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011

The most important thing for us was to find a "pet friendly" apartment so we could take our dog with us. This apartment fitted the bill and has everything a holiday maker needs for a comfortable stay - even champagne glasses! We took our dog with us and found good, safe walks nearby along the cycle routes.

A clean comfortable base to relax in after sight seeing/explorin

Left on 06/03/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Despite our train being delayed by two hours, the more than helpful owner was there to greet us and take in our Sainsbury's delivery, which arrived 20 mins prior to us!.
The flat is in a quiet location , about 15 min walk to Haymarket ,and 30 min to Princes Street. There are also plenty of buses going to the the centre and you can purchase an all day ticket for £3.20.,We got this ticket when going to Britannia, and used it again in the evening, but other than that walked. Did all the usual tourist things, Botanic Garden, Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood, Calton Hill etc etc.
There is a good litttle Mace shop close by which has a reasonable wine supply, various take -a -ways, cafe's, it does save the carrying! Taxi from Waverley Station £ 7.40 going and £5.40 on the return journey.
I will be returning to this flat as it provides all one needs for a City break. Thank you again Mrs Mc Neil and staff at Mackay's

Pleasant accommodation. Good base for exploring Edinburgh.

Left on 05/04/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We found this an attractive, spacious, well appointed, clean apartment, well situated for a visit to Edinburgh. We had no bother parking using a visitor's permit. Plenty of local facilities for self-catering and good access to main roads. We would certainly use this accommodation for our next visit to Edinburgh.

Modern appartment in good location for sightseeing

Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Positive: Good size and modern appartment with good decor. Walk to start of Princess Street takes 30mins. Quiet location.
Negative: Residents Parking is a free for all and gets full at weekends and evenings as there is no reserved space for this appartment. Floors a little dusty at edges. The faulty single bed as previously reported remained problematic. Dvd player had no remote and didn't appear to work, however was able to use PS2 to play Dvd's. Smoke alarm in hall next to kitchen is very sensitive.
Our overall rating is very good and the negatives which are only minor issues are easily remedied. Suffice to say we had an enjoyable, comfortable stay and would not hesitate to use gain.

This is a light, spacious and nicely furnished flat with good facilities, including broadband and a widescreen television. The location is very good - walking distance to Princes Street, a short walk from Haymarket railway station and on numerous bus routes, giving easy access to the airport and most areas in Edinburgh. You definitely don't need your own car if you stay here. It is on a small modern development which is quiet and clean. The owner was friendly and helpful (I stayed for two months, while I was buying a property, with my daughter there some of the time). Recommended!

I've already done this, you're agency is not well organised!

Left on 12/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Excellent location comfortable apartment spoilt by the fact that the apartment hadn't been cleaned. Also one of the single beds hadn't been put together correctly and collapsed. I also warned Mackays that the apartment had a number of rugs which were a trip hazard.
Why don't Mackays pick up a phone and talk to customers instead of sending these surveys out
