      Edinburgh Maison May 2013

Left on 06/14/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We booked the holiday home via the website after speaking to the very helpful owners. The group was staying for the Marathon weekend and the house looked much better than staying in a couple of hotel rooms as normal.

Traveled by train and the address is about a 15 minute easy walk from the station. We were met on arrival and we were blown away with the size of the place, it is massive. Really nicely furnished with lots of period charm.

All the bedrooms were as described on the website, en suites to each room or along a short corridor. The beds were very comfortable with clean towels and linen provided.

Lovely lounge area, great for a few drinks in the evening and again very comfortable. The dining room is huge, we didn't use it but even that had an en suite!

Kitchen was well equipped and we could not have asked for more.

All in all it was a lovely weekend, the address is within a few minutes walk of George and Princess Streets so you cannot get more central. At night it was surprisingly quiet outside, only spoilt by the early morning arrival of the inconsiderate bin lorry at the back of the address.

Stunning apartment in a perfect location

Left on 02/18/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We were a family of three generations travelling from the North of Scotland and South Wales to meet for a three night family get together and were very excited about finding this beautiful looking apartment. All the booking and correspondence was very easy and Jane the owner could not have been more helpful or friendly. On arriving we were all delighted with the size and luxury of the townhouse ( my sister -in-law imagined she was a character from her favourite novel Pride and Prejudice)!! The beautifully decorated and furnished drawing room with numerous sofas and chairs was a fantastic room for us all to be together as a family, and the large dining room was again perfect for the ten of us to eat together. All five bedrooms were grand with ensuite facilities and everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. As well as being delighted with our accommodation, we were really pleased with how central we were and enjoyed walking to visitor attractions, shops, restaurants etc. This was a great find and I would definitely love to return.

      Wonderful

Left on 12/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Very excited about staying at Edinburgh Maison from the website details and photos, and it didn't disappoint. We were a party of three Mums with three 20 something daughters; the greeting we received when we arrived, late on Friday evening, was welcoming and informative about the property and facilities. Once left to our own devices we drew lots for the bedrooms (all were superbly comfortable with well equipped en-suites). We then settled down to prosecco and pizza in the rather grand drawing room! After a really comfortable night's sleep (we all individually commented on the comfort of the beds and bedding; we breakfasted on brioche and croissants. Anything we needed in the kitchen, we found, it lacked nothing. We had booked a restaurant for Saturday night but we all wished we had taken advantage of the catering facilities advertised on the website; we really wanted to be served dinner in the beautiful dining room. Next time we will do so; as we definitely want to return! The descriptions and photographs on the website are a true representation of the property. The ease of booking, the information sent through before arrival, gaining access on arrival and vacating the property are the end of the stay - everything is so smooth and adds to the success of a weekend in Edinburgh. We didn't want to leave!

      Great!!!

Left on 11/29/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We were 3 couples going to Edinburgh for shopping and fun, Two of us have been to Edinburgh several times, and knows where we wanted to stay. And stay together in an apartment is perfect.
We got the keys when we arrived before lunch, and we were also allowed to have our luggage staying there to late on the day we were leaving.

We were 3 couples, so we chose our bedrooms in every floor. Making us feeling free. Every bedroom has a bathroom, some small. But everything was working perfect, so no problem.

Kitchen was well equipped, so we made our own full english breakfast every morning. And sitting in in drawing room with a drink in the afternoon, resting from todays shopping and prepare to go out for dinner. And whole Edinburgh in walking distance.

But not choose this if you are fewer than 5, it could be very big and feel very alone.

Neighborhood quiet. Some traffic, but nothing to be disturbed of. Amyway - you are in the middle of Edinburgh.

Fabulous five star family accommodation in the centre of Edinbur

Left on 10/23/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Huge Townhouse in a very central location in Edinburgh. Our party consisted of myself, partner and 2 young children (2 & 5), my parents and my mother-in-law and the layout of the house was just perfect for us. Even though the house is large it's still very cosy and the children loved playing hide and seek in all the little nooks and crannies. The location couldn't have been any better and we found a wonderful place to eat just five minutes away called Tiger Lily where they had a lunch time offer on of 2 main meals for £15. We all had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend Edinburgh Maison to anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Initial contact and booking process with the owner was straightforward and friendly. Checking in was slick as was checking out. The house is in a prime location in the new town part of Edinburgh, close to most of the sights and amenities of the city. The house itself is really beautiful, rooms are all decorated to a high standard and the kitchen, bathrooms etc are well equipped and maintained. The lounge and dining room comfortably accommodates 8+. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this house and would love to stay again 5 star through and through.

      Wonderful place to stay!!

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The house was just as it is pictured. It was clean and tastefully well furnished in every way. The location could not have been better. It was a plus that it is located in 'Old Town' for a 'real' feel of the city. The original building must have be hundreds of years old, yet, it is up to date. If the weather had proved to be such that we would have been house bound the entire time, I don't think anyone would have complained! After so much family togetherness, it helped us to be able to spread out on the three floors for some alone down time. With five televisions, five and one-half bathrooms, and all other rooms so large, we were so very glad that we opted out of staying in a hotel. The kitchen lacked for nothing. I wanted to take the double-oven gas cook stove home with me! Check-in went without a hitch.

You'll feel like a wealthy Georgian family, but with a dishwashe

Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Our party of seven spent three nights in luxury at the Edinburgh Maison at the end our drive tour of Scotland. The property is a historic Georgian townhouse with high quality period-style furnishings that made us feel like we were staying in a museum but with all the comforts and conveniences of a modern resort. Unlike many places we've stayed at over the years, the pictures on their website are accurate. It really is as nice as it looks.

The townhouse has four bedrooms on three floors, each with its own bathroom; a large living room; an equally large dining room; and fully equipped kitchen. If you want to have a dinner party, all you'll need provide is food and, if you're like me, a chef. All the rooms and living spaces were spotless on arrival and linen service was even provided once during our stay despite that we were only there three nights. The beds were surprisingly comfortably, more like home than a hotel. There is a washer on the lowest level with several drying racks.

The townhouse is literally steps from Princes Street and all the shopping and restaurants and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Royal Mile. Despite its location, we found it quiet as its fronts a lightly used street without commercial shops or loud pubs. If you're driving, there is only one parking spot for the property. We had to park our second vehicle on-street or at one of the car parks, which is about a 15-20 minute walk. If you're not familiar with Edinburgh, I'd strongly recommend not driving as its difficult to find your way in the city center by car, expensive to park, and everything is walkable anyway.

The property is available for short stays, but its really the kind of place you'll want to stay longer. At the end of our stay, we wish we had set aside some of our sightseeing time to just relax in the comfortable living room with a pot of tea or a good single malt. You can reserve on-line and pay the deposit by credit card, however the property doesn't accept credit cards to complete the reservation, so if your visiting from overseas as we were, you'll need either a Paypal account or arrangements for an international wire transfer. It may seem inconvenient but its worth the hassle. The management was very responsive by e-mail and very patient in helping me though this process.

The Edinburgh Maison wasn't the cheapest of the vacation rentals we considered for our Edinburgh visit, but its historical character made it as much a highlight of our Scotland visit as many of the attractions we visited. Plus, when you consider the ideal location and quality of service, we found it very cost effective in comparison to hotels or vacation rentals further from Old or New Town.

      Luxury Indeed!

Left on 06/22/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Luxury doesn't begin to describe the wonderful Edinburgh Maison and our week long (not long enough) stay there. Every detail was well thought out. The beds were the comfiest I've ever slept in while on holiday and the decor and furnishings in the home were perfect!! From the full service kitchen to the "rain forest" style showers in each bedroom, we felt the luxury from every detail. The location was close to local coffee shops as well as attractions and shopping. We will definitely be back.
      Thank you, Jane.

Excellent classy accomodation, with first rate facilities. Have stayed in accomodation across the Uk and Europe, this is one of the best.
Our group consisted of 4 coupleswhich was ideal in this this house as we all had en suitesfacilities which is quite rare. The beds and bedding were of a very high quality as was all the furnishings. The loungeand dining room are great spaces for a group to socialise.
The house also has a private car park space to the rear of the house which is a great asset.

The house is very centrally located with shopping, pubs & restaurants all on your doorstep.

If you are looking for a beautiful property in Edingburgh that is central to all the facilities you would struggle to do better than Edingburgh Maison.

I would highly recommend and will be visting again in the near future.

We spent four days and three nights at Edinburgh Maison and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The house certainly lived up to the photos on the website and was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owner, Jane Hay, couldn't have been more helpful and approachable. The location of the house is perfect. It is literally just around the corner from the main shopping streets and tourist attractions. We would certainly stay there again. We would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Each bedroom has an en suite which was ideal for us as four couples stayed.Everybody was very impressed. This is an excellent location for a group of friends but a bit too expensive to just visit as a family. Young families may find it unsuitable as bedrooms are all on different floors.

We had four couples that traveled together to Scotland. The townhouse was so ideal. Each couple had their own bedroom and private bathroom. The beds were luxurious and the bathrooms very contemporary. The common spaces were very spacious for us to congregate. The home is very classic European decor. The location was outstanding with the castle just blocks away. There were plenty of shops and restaurants just down the street. Our hostess, Jane, was so accomodating and helpful. I would highly recommend the Edinburgh Maison!

Luxurious stay in prime Edinburgh location

Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We decided on this accommodation to celebrate a 40th and 50th birthday in style. The owner was extremely helpful from start and finish and went the extra mile to make the stay as enjoyable and stress free as possible. The house is situated in an ideal location close to George Street and Princes Street and surrounding areas with great shops, bars and restaurants on the door step. The house is very comfortable, with high quality furnishings throughout and was well equipped with everything we could possibly need (and the 5 en-suites were very much appreciated with 8 ladies getting ready to go out on Saturday night!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to anyone looking for a great base in Edinburgh, although it would not be suitable for people with mobility issues due to the living areas being on the middle and top floor. Many thanks again Jane - we hope to be back!!

Left on 02/28/2012 for a stay in February 2012

This townhouse was perfect for our group of 6 adults. Plenty of room, lots of charm, and a great location. We loved the parking spot as we had a vehicle for out-of-town excursions. This is truly a supremely comfortable place to explore Edinburgh. Lots of great restaurants nearby (loved Iris and Cafe Marlayne just down the street) and easy walking to the sites of Edinburgh. A big consideration is that the photos on the website are accurate and truly do depict the accommodations. Jane and Lucy were very easy to work with to secure our reservation and were available to answer questions. Our group has rented places in numerous European cities (Venice, Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam, London, Vienna, Lisbon), and this townhouse is in a class by itself.

We spent a long time looking for somewhere we could stay that would allow us to explore beautiful Edinburgh but also relax in homely comfort. We finally settled on Edinburgh Maison and we are so glad we did as it greatly exceeded our expectations. It couldn't have be closer to Princes St, George St and the Castle but the best thing about it was that it is a genuine townhouse and therefore provided us plenty of accommodation of us and our friends. A lot of thought has been put into the house as it has everything you would need, is in excellent condition and every bedroom even has an ensuite. Jane the owner is great and was very lovely to deal with and she even provides access to a concierge service will who will help you plan and organise your stay, which was great for us as we where coming from the us and didn't really know our way around .
Thank you so much Jane, we loved staying in your house!!
