Additional Location Information
Broompark has the best of both worlds: an almost rural location yet within the city, only minutes from the city bypass and a short bus ride or drive by car into the city centre. A 15- to 20-minute walk connects you with the number 11 bus, which runs into the city centre and all the way on to Leith and the berth of the Royal Yacht Brittania. Alternatively, to avoid city-centre parking charges, there are a selection of buses for the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and city centre shopping areas with free car parking at local bus stops. This means that all the attractions of Edinburgh's Old Town and New Town are just a short bus ride away.
Located on the Braid Hills, there are great walks, golf on the municipal golf course 300 metres away or on the adjacent driving range at Braid Hills Golf Centre. Blackford Hill, a little nearer the city centre, is home to the Royal Observatory. Not far is Craigmillar Castle, one of the oldest tower houses in Scotland, with links to Mary Queen of Scots and a strategic location with commanding views over the city. There are also some fantastic longer walks and biking opportunities in the nearby Pentland Hills and around the famous Arthurs Seat.
As befits the countryside feel of the location, pony trekking is available at the nearby Tower Farm Riding School and Stables, with many scenic rides, much of them off road. Broompark is a short drive from Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and other Edinburgh hospitals, so is a good base for any visiting medics. The Stable Bar at Mortonhall is a short walk or drive away, with its sunny courtyard in summer, roaring fire in winter, and good food and drink all year round.

The owners graciously welcomed us to Broompark. The home had many modern amenities, including wifi, that made our stay very comfortable. The countryside views offered a great respite to the bustle of Edinburgh.Shopping was not too far away.We loved it!!!

What a beautiful place inside and out. A 15 minute cab ride from Waverly station, we were surrounded by horses and a good local pub, a great place to go after the bustle of the royal mile. Three bedrooms and a huge living area meant that there was space for all five of us.

This is a lovely large house with well appointed en-suite and family bathrooms, a washbasin in a further bedroom and a toilet downstairs. The dining area has a dining table large enough to accommodate at least 8 people and this opens out to a lounge area with a two and three seater sofa with recliners. There is even a piano to play for any budding pianists! The TV has freeview, but did not have an appropriate connection for the Xbox which we brought with us (this would be handy if you have kids and the weather is lousy, but I agree the principal reason for coming away on holiday is not to watch films via Xbox or play on it!!). The kitchen is quite small, but has everything you need for "holiday cooking" including fridge/freezer, oven/hob, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster [except we missed a cheese grater!]. There is a washingmachine available too, but we didn't need to use it. The owners live in the other part of the house, but this in no way impinges on your privacy. The house is located about 600 yards down a narrow road and hence it is in a very quiet location. Bedrooms lookout onto open fields with horses from the nearby stables and also onto one of the holes of the nearby golf course. The Stables pub/restaurant is about 10 minutes walk and does standard pub grub. Access to the nearest bus to Edinburgh is a good 20 minute walk, but you can drive your car down to an adjacent road, park up for free all day and get a bus into the city centre. The owners were very friendly without being obtrusive. We were delighted with our stay here.

To make it short: very nice place. It is ideal for people who like a peaceful place and, at the same time, staying not far away from town center, as it is. The house was very well equipped.
Quite good organization: they even sent me a set of keys to my postal adress before leaving for Edinburgn.
Although they gave us directions and maps and everything, it is not easy to get there for the first time. We had the help of a very efficient navigator.I do not know what we would have done whithout this help.Response from Vacation Rentals Scotland - 07/23/2012
