  Surprisingly Disappointing

  First I would like to make clear that Edisto Realty is by far the best vacation rental service I have ever dealt with. My review is of the house only. The people in the office are always pleasant, fair, and very professional, so there are no issues there.
  
  After we picked up our packet with the greatest of ease, we went over to the house. When we walked in, initially everything looked fine. Then, when we took a closer looked we didn't feel as warm and fuzzy any more. First thing we could not help but notice were those hideous signs taped, nailed and I think super glued everywhere placed by the owners. They have a very threatening feel to them, and makes you feel uncomfortable from the moment you walk in. The signs warn you that if you get so much as a drop on the older, somewhat worn carpet, any water dripped onto the hard wood or accidentally splashed onto any of the wooden walls, or even dripped onto the furniture, you will pay. Again, these were placed by the owners, and Edisto Realty had no clue the owners had placed those signs up everywhere. Apparently they do not understand that Edisto Realty collects a non-refundable damage waiver from everyone to cover such accidental and unexpected things that occur.
  
  We also looked for the visitor book that we have known to be standard with any of their vacation rentals, and it was no place to be found. No "helpful tips" about the island, suggested places to go eat, see or do--nothing. We shook it off because we had been there numerous times, but the other family members that joined us, it was their first time, and it would have been nice to have for them.
  
  The next thing we noticed were the poor repair/patch jobs and black marks on the walls. It appears the owner did not bother to take the extra step to have them done right. This was all through the house. Both queen rooms have these, (along with the hideous signs), and some parts of the kitchen cabinets were that way as well.
  
  We also noticed the oven was not very clean, and the refrigerator smelled horrible. We ended up cleaning the refrigerator before placing our food inside, (which only helped somewhat with the horrible smell) and never bothered to use the oven because we did not want to spend our vacation cleaning it out. Thankfully we brought our own grill to cook on. The refrigerator is in poor shape all around. Now, we understand that it could take a little bit for it to cool down after it has sat for a little bit, but it should not take the entire week-especially when the a/C works very well. Put it this way, our ice cream stayed soft the entire time, as if it was close to melting.
  
  Sadly, all of the outlets are in poor condition also. So bad that if you were to plug something in, the plug would fall out of the outlet-literally. The only 3 prong outlets in the home are located in the 2nd bathroom and the laundry room. I chose to plug on my laptop in the laundry room, and was concerned when I could see the entire outlet was loose-especially since the dryer is plugged into it.
  
  I will say there were some positives, all though rather small in comparison. The outside shower works very well, (unlike the main bathroom shower). The a/C keeps the place very cool and comfortable on those really hot days, and we were barely a full block away from the beach access. Our stay at Edisto Beach overall was very positive because we made it positive, but between the threatening notes and other concerns that I would deem as hazardous soured a bit.
  
  Would we rent from Edisto Realty again? Absolutely!! In all the years renting from them, this has been the 1st not so positive experience with a vacation rental. We just simply will avoid "InspiresUs" as a possibility for our next vacation rental.
