Our stay at NoRegrets was amazing. The home is lovely, clean, and equipped for a relaxing and enjoyable time. We kayaked in the mornings, had our breakfast overlooking the water, and walked the beautiful area of The Hammocks in the afternoons. The home is just perfect and we had no regrets. It is a great home that is comfortable and easy to relax in. We would have loved to stay longer and will surely try to get back there.
Could not have asked for a better location or a better home.
Atwood Agency was excellent. They were pleasant and accommodating. They were attentive, professional and helpful.
Perfect to work with.
Lovely....lovely....lovely time for our entire family.

We had a great vacation,the kitchen had plenty of great quality cookwear and utensils.We had the use of the kayaks and life only negative is the carpets had many stains.

We had a great week,with the only problem being the garbage disposal needing the rubber flaps that go aroung the top replaced-it spits everything back out. Not much lighting under house and around house, but not sure if this is on purpose due to the sea turtles. Otherwise we loved the house and our vacation!

This house had a very bad smell and also had fleas on the 2nd floor (middle floor). The location is great and the outdoor area is nice - kayaks, docks, fishing, etc., but the "pet-friendly" status was a mistake we won't make again. We don't have pets, but chose this house for its location and kayaking. Unfortunately, pets have damaged this nice house. Rental company seemed unconcerned about this when we told them. Beautiful decor on top floor, kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment, 2 very small (tiny) televisions with VCRs in bedrooms. One large television in den, but it didn't work - had to call and get it repaired, then it stopped again after 2 days. We love Edisto, but would not rent this house again. It needs a complete cleaning from top to bottom, extermination for fleas, and then a "no-pets" status before I would ever consider staying there again.

There are so many good things to say about the property, but it was all overshadowed by the fact that the house had fleas and a horrible odor that we could not get rid of. Perhaps we should never have rented a "pet-friendly" property considering we don't have pets, but the fact that this property had kayaks and a fishing dock was very attractive to our family.
Immediately upon arrival, we noticed a very strong dog-type odor on the second floor, which also has carpet throughout. We thought maybe the house had just been closed up without any airing-out and had maybe been unoccupied for a few weeks. We opened the windows and tried to air it out a bit. Nothing helped. The following day, we went and bought air fresheners and scented candles. I sprayed cleaner in the bathrooms and washed the floor mats, vacuumed the carpets myself, and even put some scented washing powder in coffee filters and sat it all around on the floor air vents. Nothing got rid of the smelly wet-dog odor. As a last resort, I put nail-polish remover on some cotton balls and laid them around on the vents - that smell was actually preferable to the odor of the house! Even that didn't overpower the smell. By the time we accepted that it wasn't going to get better, we had already been there two days.
My husband and I had slept on the top floor for the first few nights, but by the third night, I ended up sleeping in a bedroom on the middle floor and discovered that the entire middle floor was infested with fleas! They were not on the floor where the master bedroom is (3rd floor) but on the middle floor which has 3 of the bedrooms - typically where the children would be. My children had not mentioned it, because they're children and they didn't know to complain about that. By the time we (adults) discovered the fleas, we had been there 4 days. We were beyond frustrated and disappointed in the house, but what could we do? So, for all of the good things to say about this property, this was a horrible experience for our family because of the sickening animal smell and the fleas. The only other issue is that the televisions did not work. We called about getting that fixed, and they fixed it for 2 days (i.e. fixed it on Tuesday, but it went out again on Thursday), but then we just let that go. There's one very old television (tube, not a flat screen) in the living area and two very small (12 inch) and old televisions in 2 of the bedrooms. (They are so old they have VHS tape players on them.) This didn't bother me at all because I read most of the time anyway (while swatting fleas!) but my husband and sons were not happy without any television at all, especially at night.
On the positive side, the kitchen is very well stocked for cooking and the living room and kitchen areas are beautifully decorated. The main floor is the third floor, so get ready to climb stairs - we didn't mind this, though. It was good exercise! The house had 3 nice kayaks and several life jackets - one can tell that the owners had put a lot of thought into the house and making it nice and comfortable for guests at one time. They probably haven't visited in a while or don't know how badly it smells or about the fleas. I don't think someone who decorates that nicely would have let the house deteriorate into that state.
And, yes, we did tell the rental agency about all of this and they just gave us a blank stare and said, "Sorry about that." We weren't expecting anything for free, but we really wanted to be acknowledged. We had rented once before from this same agency, had a wonderful house and experience that time, so we didn't know this would be the reaction when we complained. In retrospect, we should have immediately gone back to the rental office, but it was after hours when we arrived, and we thought we could get rid of the smell by opening the house up. I hate to complain, and have never written a bad review like this before, but family vacation time is important to us. Unfortunately, this was not one that will evoke good memories. I just want other people to be aware of what they might be getting. -

We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days and we so enjoyed every minute spent there, the view we had from the upper deck was awesome and the sunrise was amazing. The homes furnishings were so helpful, pictures of the family made the home more comfortable. The fish cleaning station was sooooo helpful as it is outside and right near the hose so it was easy clean up. We definately had "No Regrets"...

We were unaware that there were 3 floors - no elevator - just stairs. Kitchen on top floor! This created difficulty for Mom because of disability. The house is lovely and we enjoyed our stay very much. Would rent again.

The master bedroom bed and the couch in the living room are kind of shot. There is black mold in the upstairs bathroom on the ceiling. Neither of these things ruined our vacation but the mold issue should be looked into. There was a little bit there when
we first stayed there 2 years ago and it looks like it has gotten worse. Thanks! -

The grass wasn't cut, giving rise to fears of hidden snakes. There was no bathroom apart from the bedrooms. The beds weren't arranged in the rooms as advertised.

The home itself was very well maintained and had a great view. There were tons of activities to do at this property. The creek offered excellent fishing from the dock. The only issue that I had at the vacation rental was the lawn maintenance had not been done it what appeared to be several weeks. The grass in the the back yard was knee deep and limited our ability to use the outside table. The microwave stopped working during the middle of the week and the management company had a new one delivered the next day.

We absolutely loved the view and the use of the sea kayaks. The only drawback that we found was no beach access and having three young children it made it a little harder to pack up and go to the beach.

Our week at "NO Regrets" was enjoyable for the entire family, kids and parents and grandparents. We loved the location because it was private, quiet, and peaceful. The house was equipped with everything we needed, and it was already suggested that we book again. I particularly appreciated the photos of the family who own the cottage so a special thanks to them. The entire experience was great. We highly recommend this cottage for a family reunion - off the beach.

Location and view are both spectacular. This was our second year in this property, and we found that there were just too many things that have deterioated over the year, hence we will be staying at another home in the Hammock's next year. The carpets were filthy with MANY unine stains (and odor's) especially on the second floor bedrooms. Atwood did respond quickly and did have the carpets cleaned. This should have been done earlier. The drum in the dryer came apart; in reading the guest books, this had been pointed out many times before. We purchased new screws and corrected the problem. There were many dirty dishes and pieces of silverware and other kitchen utensils. The disposal needs a new rubber 'preventer' so items do not fall into the disposal, plus when it is turned on, it sprays water and debris on you while using it. There is a serious leaking problem associated with the door in the master bedroom (third floor). With heavy rains, the carpet was SOAKED up to a foot from the door. This is a beautiful home, and needs some TLC from especially the guests and the owners. Feel free to contact us

We hope this home is available when we desire to vacation in the area again. The location is so safe that one day we did not lock the doors! We loved the boardwalk and dock, the fishing at high tide and the morning and late afternoon vistas along with a great area to ride our bikes.
Negatives are these: The cleaning service needs to to be more efficient. Upon our arrival, we noticed mop stings left under the chair legs in the dining room. The floor in the dining room was dirty...just take a wet paper towel and wipe it, you'll see what we mean. The corners in the bathrooms and corner areas around the bottom of the sliding doors need some attention...hair and dirt was there when we arrived!Response from The Atwood Agency - 08/04/2010

This rental property is located in a great setting. The house does need some updates, especially the kitchen appliances. However, it is comfortable for a week's stay. We enjoyed our time there.
