The large great room is perfect for family activities or preparing your favorite beach meals for all. Had a great time. Great locations. Older beach house. Clean, well maintained but needs another shower. Able to sleep 10 comfortable but will be a problem for that many to shower.

We've stayed at four different houses through Atwood and I think this house was the best value for the money. It was a very short walk through powdery sand to get to the beach. As you may know, there are sections of Edisto where the beach almost disappears at high tide, but this location still had a fair amount of sand even at the highest tide. Although I would have preferred bedrooms with more of an ocean view, the beds were comfortable and the sunroom facing the beach was very comfortable. Because all the rooms are on one floor, this house works best for a smaller family ... we had three adult kids with us. They REALLY missed wireless and I think this would make the house a better value for the money. There was also only one shower upstairs; the other bathroom had just a tub, which no one wanted to use. There are two shower rooms downstairs, but frankly I thought this was creepy. There's no lock to keep people out of the screened-in area on ground level, and I didn't like going down there at night to do laundry, even though I'm sure there are no Jack the Rippers on Edisto. Another negative is that there's no sheltered entrance into the house. The car is sheltered but you have to walk outside to go up the stairs. This is a negative if you are packing or unpacking the car in a heavy downpour like we were. But all in all, we liked this house well enough to reserve it for next year, and we're hoping the owner will install wireless by next year since almost all the properties have it now, and it might be a make-or-break factor for people choosing a house. Yes, your vacation is a getaway time of relaxation, but most people surf the Internet to relax :)

We have always rented from Edisto Reality for the past 11 years but gave Atwood a try this year and we are so happy that we did. Thank you for making everything so easy so we were able to relax and enjoy a vacation!

A great house, with outstanding beach accessibility. Appliances, and especially the HD TV's, were much better than I have come to expect from beach rental properties. The only issue that arose with multiple guests was only having one shower on the top floor. I have vacationed at Edisto through Atwood for over 10 years, and will contiue to do so.

We LOVE Edisto Beach and have been enjoying our family vacation there for about 48 years. We LOVE the Pause a While and its location on the beach. If it could be possible we would enjoy having some updates in the oldest bathroom. Hope to see you next year!!!

My students and I had the best time at Pause A While. One of them had never seen the ocean, so I wanted to stay in a place with character and in comfort on the beach. Roomy and clean and a spacious kitchen--everything we needed. I hope I'm able to book it everytime I can come to Edisto.

while the house and its contents are perfectly clean, it is not at all modern or fresh. The kitchen is oddly equipped (no serving bowls but lots of huge pots) and the bathrooms are ridiculous. The only shower on the main floor is in the master bathroom
so you have to walk though a bedroom to get to it. That the listing considers any of the downstairs habitable is crazy; the showers and bathrooms down there are no better than summer camp-level of mustiness and rustiness, and they are only accessible going
out the front door and down the stairs (i.e. on Palmetto). Give us a more honest assessment of what we are really getting in to, please! On the other hand - location, location, location makes it all worth it. -

This house was exactly what we wanted--an older beach house in a great location. Clean, well-maintained, and nicely furnished. We all loved the sun room and the walk-out deck with 180 views of the ocean. We had a party of four. I would think that with six or more it might seem crowded but some people are OK with that if it's only for a week. We had a fun summer vacation in the hot sun on Edisto Beach. What's better than that? We'll be back!

Pause Awhile was a great house to stay in for our week long stay. Very comfortable, beds were great. Kitchen could use a few more simple amenities like more Tupperware bowls and a new wine opener but it was nothing that slowed us down! Sad to leave and all ready can't wait to come back!

This was our third year staying at this location, so I guess you have to say we like it. The location could not be better, but the owner really needs to add a shower. The property lists as having three bathrooms, but one is downstairs and not accessible from inside the house! There are only two bathrooms and one only has a bathtub - no shower.

Great location! Throughout our extensive travels we expect comfortable and up to date bedding. The beds were not comfortable. There should be two showers upstairs. Other than that all was fine. Would probably rent again if bedding was updated.
