Eight Mile Plains is a good quality residential area, adjacent to the highly serviced retail and business area of Garden City/Upper Mount Gravatt. Nestled in between two of the major highways (Pacific Motorway to the CBD and the Gold Coast, and the Gateway Motorway to Ipswich or the northern suburbs of Brisbane), you are ideally positioned to access absolutely anywhere in Brisbane with ease.
Garden City is the locals' name for the large Westfield shopping Centre on Logan Road (a major arterial into the city), and features hundreds of shops, plus cinemas and restaurants - it is also a bus interchange for services from other parts of the city. Head on up Logan Road towards the city, and you'll pass through Mount Gravatt, Holland Park, Stones Corner, and through to Woolloongabba, just a stones throw from the city.
For visiting theme parks like Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet'n'Wild, this is a great place to stay as it take only 35 minutes to drive to Dreamworld with the other 2 parks just a few minutes more down the road.
Visitors can also easily access the Moreton Bay playgrounds of Cleveland and Redland Bay, with boat tours out to the local islands including North Stradbroke Island with it's famous Point Lookout beaches, and the favourite Coochiemudlo Island with an excellently sheltered beach for the littlies.
Shopping, theatres and night spots in the Brisbane CBD are just 15-20 minutes drive straight up the Pacific Motorway into the heart of the city area, as well as access to the Gabba Cricket Ground and Suncorp Stadium. If you're going to events at either of these stadiums, or to something at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, then the easiest way to travel is to leave your car at Garden City and catch the bus straight in.
