Description from the owner
Casa Ambrosia is nestled in total peace and privacy on 4 acres, bordering National Forest, and surrounded by tall cottonwood, pine, and oak trees, with an expansive view of the pastoral river valley of El Rito and the majestic Sangre de Cristo mountains off in the distance.
This wonderful, comfortable, and serene hideaway accommodates four+ people. The uniquely designed adobe house with high wood ceilings and impressive vigas is spacious and filled with light. Tucson, AZWe could not have been happier with our experience at Casa ambro
Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in December 2012
If you love the Northern New Mexico experience, you will love Casa ambrosia. This was an excellent base for exploring and an extremely comfortable and welcoming space for relaxing and reading after a day of hiking and discovering the many charms of historic New Mexico. Our two wolf dogs felt right at home as well. We absolutely loved this place!

Plano, TXGreat time at Casa abrosia
Left on 04/15/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Great home conveniently located in El Rito between Santa Fe and Taos. Perfect location for day trips to either, about an hour's drive to each. Closer are Ghost Ranch, Albiqui, Ojo Caliente, and dozens of little art towns and pueblos. El Rito is an authentic (read classic) New Mexico ranch town nestled where the desert meets the forest - here you can really get a feel for the spirit of what makes northern NM unique.
Casa ambrosia was perfect for our family of four (and little dog) on spring break. Jeeping right off the property was a bonus. The house was wonderful, had everything we needed for our stay, and always felt nice to 'come home to' at the end of the day.
Alicia was a gracious host, accessible, and offered much in the way of day trip ideas and anything else we had questions about. We will definitely return next time we are up to see friends in the area. -

AlbuquerqueFabulous Stay at Casa ambrosia!
Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in August 2010
We had such an amazing weekend in the beautiful Casa ambrosia abode. Every morning started with a hike, and then we cooked in the lovely and well-stocked kitchen, read outdoors on the patio with a gorgeous view, watched movies in the cozy living room, took long baths, and slept in the fabulously clean and airy bedroom with a wonderful nature view. Our car never left the driveway. The house is by far the best, most stunning, most well-stocked we've ever stayed in for a weekend getaway. The round rooms, high ceilings, tiled floors, windows everywhere, and unique layout made us want to build our own Casa ambrosia someday. We were so grateful for the incredible hospitality and generosity in sharing this little slice of paradise with us.

Kansas City, MOWonderful time!
Left on 03/22/2011 for a stay in July 2010
What a wonderful time we had! We woke to beautiful vistas and went to sleep under zillions of stars. Weather was perfect. Couldn't ask for anything better. The sunroom was a great hangout for all of us. We spent the week with our two dogs who enjoyed the new sites and smells.
Everything exceeded our expectations, from initial inquiry through the entire stay. Thank you for sharing Casa ambrosia with us! There's still more we'd love to do. Next time! -

Great Bend, KansasWonderful Stay at Casa ambrosia
Left on 03/21/2011 for a stay in September 2010
A stay at Casa ambrosia was just what we needed! We are leaving feeling relaxed, renewed and able to be creative again. So glad we stayed an extra night. It made all the difference. While we were here we soaked at Ojo Caliente until we could barely walk, took a nap beside the Rio Chama at abiquiu Lake, and sat on the patio late at night listening to the forest & star gazing. Thank you for sharing your amazing home -- so comfortable, not pretentious, just perfect! We've stayed in million dollar homes in Santa Fe but now we're hooked on El Rito, Northern New Mexico & Casa ambrosia. Hope to be back again soon.

Despite being a writer, I fear words cannot do justice to my 35 days in this wondrous, nurturing house. Every detail was perfect. My 76 miles of hiking deepened my appreciation of this complex landscape and ecosystem. Such riches!
My stay was in January. Most days were bright, sunny and comfortable for hiking in the national forest, although snow covered the ground through most of the visit and nights were wonderfully chilly, making the fireplace an attractive option. I rarely saw anyone else while on my hikes, which was perfect for me, since I came for the solitude.
The house itself has a welcoming spirit. I felt very safe and at home, as if the place was truly mine for that time. I hope I have the opportunity to stay there again in other seasons. I will never forget the magic of Casa ambrosia! -

Santa Fe, New MexicoWow! Peacefulness with incredible Views!
Left on 11/25/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Having stayed at Casa ambrosia several times over the years, I would have to say that it ranks very high on my 'favorite places in the world to be' list. I love the views of the mountains, the natural beauty of the surroundings, the incredible peace and serenity, and the wonderful comfortableness of the house. Don't forget to go for a soak at the Ojo Caliente hot springs spa to totally surrender to a relaxing experience!
