Jacksonville FloridaFantastic house and location
Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Six adults from our family stayed at Heron Hill for a week. The villa and gardens exceeded our expectations, which were already high based on the beautiful photos. We felt like guests in a beloved home, not renters. The house was immaculate and lacked nothing. The caretakers, Andrew and Reta, were terrific--they were at the house to greet us when we arrived and always available to answer questions. The villa's location was the best we saw around Governors Harbor--secluded, but an easy drive to shops and restaurants (a car is essential). We are a family of cooks, and we were thrilled with the fully appointed kitchen. Imagine doing dishes while watching lighted cruise ships sail past! We all agreed we'd return to Heron Hill in a heartbeat.

Spectacular place, peaceful tranquility, will be returning for our first anniversary. The owners were a pleasure to deal with, the care takers went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Great views of the atlantic, private beach, beautiful pool and the Carribean just a mile (+/-). Great adventure getting to Lighthouse Beach, loads of beaches to enjoy.

My family and I spent 10 days at Heron Hill and enjoyed every minute. The house offered everything you might expect for a vacation home. We were so pleased with the accommodations that we did not want to leave. The pink sand beach is just down the steps and the gardens out front were beautiful. The view of the atlantic is amazing! There is no one word that would describe the waters of Eleuthera, it is just unbelievable, you have to go there to experience it.
The caretakers, Rita and andrew, were available at a moments notice to help in any way and are truly warm and friendly people.
If you need a place to stay in Eleuthera, Heron Hill is the place.

NYMagnificent atlantic Ocean Estate
Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My wife and I stayed in the apartment rental (excellent and firm king sized bed) and had the entire estate to ourselves. The ocean views are tremendous and the pool was a great bonus. You can walk for miles on the beach, however, swimming is a challenge if the water is rough due to weather conditions. You need to walk 1/3 mile where there are no rocks. We rented a car and drove to nearby Paw Paw Beach and Ten Bay Beach which were both beautiful and very private. The caretaker is very helpful and friendly. To top it off, the home is located in the midst of gorgeous tropical garden with a wide variety of plant and bird life. WiFi worked from the apartment bedroom only. Wish we could have stayed much longer than a week!
Response from Lynne Fagan Murray - 05/27/2012
Owner
One of the many wonderful advantages of Eleuthera is where the house is located the island is only about 2 miles wide so if the sea is rough on one side you can reach the other side very easily. When the sea is rough there can be more exposed rocks but there are many months when the sea on our side is like a lake and no rocks are visible. We will work on getting the Wi-Fi connection in the front room of the apartment perfected. It works very well in the rest of the house.

Just returned from our fourth trip to Heron Hill, and as always, another perfect vacation. The views from the top of the bluff are simply incredible when you wake up from a nap in a hammock between two coconut trees above a pink sand beach and turquoise blue ocean. If you're looking for somewhere to go and unwind, look no further.

Left on 01/09/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This was a great location for a large family, including small children. Central to the island, snorkeling at your back door and easy access to a variety of beaches on both the atlantic and Caribbean side of the island. The pool, patio, property and direct access to the beach below the house make for a wonderful combination of options for everyone! The caretakers are very nice and made our first stay very easy and comfortable.

Left on 11/29/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We stayed in the apartment of the main house for our honeymoon, but it was cozy, well kept, had all the amenities as promised and was on a lovely garden style landscape situated above the beach. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. They provided all the information, helped with questions and provided tips and recommendations for our trip. The pool was clean and also looks out on the ocean. We spent days just enjoying the patio and beach there that it was hard to leave and explore the rest of the island. We will be looking to stay here again on our future anniversaries!

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The very cute apartment at Heron Hill is clean and spacious. The furnishings are just right...king bed, two dressers, closet, little dining table next to a large window with an awesome view. We saw a huge double rainbow and a few cruise ships going by. The house is not rented out when the apartment is in use. It was so nice to have use of the beautiful pool and large patio all to ourselves. There are two outdoor showers. Kayaks are available for you to use. The estate is five lush, private acres. The beach is very private with dramatic cliffs and coves...not too rocky. Snorkeling is good in the area. The steps down to the beach are steep and there are quite a few. You will get a workout going up and down. The caretakers are wonderful. They checked in on us to make sure we were ok but were not invasive. We enjoyed getting to know them a little bit. Good stores and restaurants are nearby. We enjoyed cooking fresh fish and lobster in the open kitchen. The owners are great to work with. We loved Eleuthera and Heron Hill.

My husband & I stayed here in May for our 15th wedding anniversary. We looked at countless places before deciding on Heron Hill. The house is laid out in a way that everyone can have privacy.Plus you have everything you need to relax or be entertained so= you never have to leave! But if you do like to explore take a walk down the beach @ low tide to the unique restaurant. It's a family run local place w/a great view! Left on 05/16/2011 for a stay in May 2011
My husband and I (of 33 yrs.) just spent a week at HeronHill. This was exactly what we needed. It was very private, romantic, great ocean views and everything you could ask for. We have been coming to Eleuthra for over 20 years and this was my favorite place. We stayed in the 1 bedroom apt., but had full use of the pool, laundry, all decks. We snorkeled out to the reef just down the steps, great! The views are fantastic and it is centrally located. You can travel the whole island. We went north one day and south the next. Can't wait to go back. We love Eleuthra! Thanks Lynne for the wonderful place to stay!

We had a great time. The place basically is as described in the website: great pool, snorkling, kayaking, beach etc.
House has everything you need and more and the caretakers are very nice and helpful. Only one thing to think about. Noseeums can be formidable, esp. during evenings in a month like august when winds are calm. You must bring protection e.g. Deet. -

Heron Hill was a delightful place to stay! we rented the apt, which was perfect for 2 people - but from the looks of the house, we'd love to come back w/ a small group. the grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept, the pool was a great addition! it's location is very secluded and we had the beach completely to ourselves nearly the entire time. conveniently located near Governer's Harbour and a good spot to explore all ends of the island to the north and south.

England!!!a really fun time away from it all in a truly beautiful place
Left on 12/07/2009 for a stay in July 2009
we had a wonderful holiday at Heron Hill - the location just above the beach
with amazing views was fantastic - the snorkeling was superb - infront of
the house and across the island - even saw sharks! the girls (13 and 11)
loved the pool. We did some great bone fishing with Paul Petty - (he is the
man and you will definitely catch something, although be prepared to dig
deep - hes pricey!) We tried diving up at Harbour Island but way too touristy
and weve dived better places - did get to play with dolphins with our
snorkels!
Heron Hill has all you want and as an extended family party we still had
room for privacy - electrics a bit dodgy but all added to the fun! Food on
the island a bit limited in range and frehness but an excellent deli with
fresh bread and cheeses close by. Well looked after by Rita and her husband
- any domestic problems quickly resolved.
Its a holiday for those looking for a remote and beautiful location - not a
busy nightlife. Also the midgey flies can be a pest if the wind is wrong -
but it didnt spoil our holiday - we just went swimming!

Left on 12/04/2009 for a stay in February 2009
We were looking for a serene and quiet place for
a vacation last winter, and definitely found it
at Heron Hill. A private perch with a post card
view and most of the time, the only sounds heard
were the surf and rustling palm trees. Plus, miles
of beach that most of the time could be walked barefooted without stepping on anything excect smooth, pink sand. After our stay, the only question about returning was not if, but when? -

We spent the Thanksgiving week at Heron Hill, with another family. There were a total of 4 adults and 4 children in our group who's ages were between 8 and 15. The house had everything that anyone could expect and more. The beaches on the island are fantastic and as to the color of the ocean, just stunning, you'll have to visit yourselves to realy appreciate it!
The only down side was that thought the bars and restaurants were quite pricey, but you are on an island and everthing has to be shipped in.
We could not fault anything and Lynne was also a great help. She even called us whilst we were staying at Heron Hill House to make sure that everythig was OK and to our satisfaction, you can't get better than that! -

Left on 12/04/2009 for a stay in October 2009
Hi, we stayed at Herron Hill, the beautiful home owned by Lynne fagan Murray, in Mid-October. This was the last few weeks of low season and although some of the restaurants and attractions were closed we mostly ate (Seafood purchased at the Docks) at the Villa and had great Wine and Seafood dinners next to the pool.
Herron Hill is probably the nicest location on the Island for its central location and proximity to Markets, grocery stores, restaurants. The attractions of the Island are about equal distance north and south with the northern part of the island offering the most to see.
The weather was a little windy and rainy but, with our own pool, beach and the ever nice Carribean waters available we loved our stay at Herron Hill.

Charlotte, NCWorth Every Penny! A Perfect Rental!
Left on 07/12/2009 for a stay in May 2009
I had the unique experience of getting married on Eleuthera on May 30,
2009, at Tippys. I spent weeks researching the perfect place for my
friends to stay. For anyone who is about to spend hours researching and
looking for the best rental on the island, let me save you the time.
Heron Hill is by far one of the best homes on the island. The house is
fully equipped with everything you could every want, and more. The best
part of the house, in my opinion, was the pool. Yes the ocean is right
there, but having the pool at times was a great amenity. The house is
atop a bluff which the beautiful back patio opens up to a fantastic
panoramic view. My favorite spot was the hammock overlooking the ocean.
The kayaks were used often and the reefs just off the coast were great
snorkel spots. The house fits plenty of people, and gives everyone
enough privacy. The one thing holding me back was that this rental is a
little more pricey that some other rentals, but let me tell you that it
was worth every penny, and I am glad we spent the money for such a
wonderful home. The best part of renting Heron Hill is dealing with
the owners and caretakers. I must have corresponded over a dozen times
with the owners who answered my thousands of questions. The caretakers
checked us in and made sure we were comfortable, and tended the daily
tasks, such as picking up the trash, without ever bothering or being
overbearing. I rented another property for my honeymoon and I wish I
could say I received the same amount of personal attention, and
attention to detail.

Little Rock, ARBest vacation ever!
Left on 06/17/2009 for a stay in March 2009
We go for 1-2 weeks every year. We have been going close to 15 years by
now and the house and grounds are better than ever. Eleuthera is for
those who like independent, informal vacations, who like to venture to
deserted beaches, and who like to come home to comfort in first class
habitats. The house has one of the best views day and night (the stars are
tremendous), it is well equipped, and we lack nothing except our own
snorkle gear.
The addition of the pool is fantastic, although we tend to go to the beach
less often. The beach in front is spectacular nevertheless, and the
snorkling is superb. We have found only one beach (of 10-20 visited), and
only one snorkling spot (of 10-20) that are better, and only just.
The island has become more developed and the choices of restaurants are
excellent (Paolo's*****, Beach House****, Tippy's***, Bucaneer***), even
espresso at the Pinapple Estates grocery store.
Best vacations ever.
