Honeoye Falls, NYPeaceful spot on a turquoise bay

We stayed here for a week last winter. The island is a long strip of land with beautiful beaches on each side, the Caribbean with calmer water on the west and the atlantic with deep blue water and pink sand beaches on the east. One lo g road connects the north and south ends of the island which is easy to navigate but not always an easy ride as some side roads to the beaches can be rough. My husband and I found the people to be friendly and helpful, the restaurants surprisingly good for simple island food and the beaches spectacular.
Two sisters is a sweet cottage with a spectacular view of the Caribbean. You can dive right in from your dock or just watch the sea rays and turtles swim past. The sound of the surf smashing into the rocky ledges that form a barrier to the water (no sand beach) will lull you to sleep. The only small drawback to the cottage is that you have to climb a ladder between the first level (the kitchen and living area with powder room) and the lower level with two bedrooms and a full bath. The location is very private. -

I really did my research before going to 2 Sisters. The beach cottage was nice but could have used some TLC. Although it was cozy and very well equipped, it was a little dusty, the sliding glass doors hadn't been cleaned and there were a few cob webs. Other than that, it was very relaxing. The diving board was a definite plus. The internet was hit or miss, but that's understandable when you're in the islands. The house is well stocked. They have lots of condiments and snorkeling gear. The owner was very helpful and so was the caretaker, Doyle. My husband left his wallet with $100 cash and credit cards in the cottage and Doyle contacted me when we arrived from our vacation and advised us and is mailing the wallet to us - Kudos to Doyle!
In summary, I rate the beach cottage average only because it could have been a little cleaner. Other than that, we had a nice relaxing time, enjoyed snorkeling out back in the bay and barbecuing fresh fish on the grill. -

We made our first trip to Eleuthera because I saw pictures of Two Sisters Inn and loved the look and location. Mimi was a great person to work with. She helped me with the best times to go and what we would need to carry with us. When we arrived it was all we expected and so much more! The house was very nicely located. Close enough to Governors Harbour to run in if we needed anything, yet remote enough that when we were at the house we saw no one. The house was comfortable with windows opened and the breeze blowing through, but on hot days the air conditioners would come in handy. It had all the comforts of home and there was nothing that we needed that wasn't readily available. The grounds were beautiful and jumping into the Caribbean off the diving board is something not many people can say they have done. Little Bay was great snorkeling for both beginners and those with more expierence. There is nothing more beautiful than watching the sunset while you sit on the upper porch drinking a cocktail then just enjoying the gorgous view of all the stars with only the sound of the waves and the wind blowing through the trees.
The only down side there could possibly be is that the house is 2 stories and you cannot get from one to the other without either climbing the ladder inside the house or going outside on the porch and going up or down the spiral staircase. So I would have to say it's not suited for small children or those that cannot use the staircase or ladder.
My husband and I agree we will return to this beautiful, peaceful hideaway and it was a pleasure dealing with Mimi and would like to thank her for allowing us to expierence Eleuthera while staying in her beautiful location. -

.We found this Jem of a place on web site Home away. looking at the pictures and the location was just to die for. so we inquired online to the owner and got a quick response to all our needs and wants . Sounded like just what we were looking for.
So when we arrived we were taken away with the Beauty and the location of the house. It had all that you would need for a vacation. we arrived and had someone( Doyle Sands) waiting for us at the airport to take us to 2 sisters and leave us the car that was definatly needed for the week and perfect for all the exploring that we did. We did have a problem with the frogs at night in the begininng and that was taken care of by our care taker. It had plenty of room. The stairs(ladder like) to go to the bedroom would be tricky for the kids or older adults. The stove would be the only thing that might need looking into. But it did have every and anything you would need for your stay. The Diving board into the caribbean is the best thing ever. They did have a nice little handbook that tells you of all the things to do and see on the island. great information.. We did not even know of Eleuthra before this trip and we are Definatly going to come back. The people here are wonderful the most friendy people you will ever meet. Thanks for the best vacation ever and hope to come back and visit ..So much more to see and do!!! -

This is defintiely the place for anyone seeking peace and quiet and relaxation and seclusion. We went to about 10 different beaches and barely saw any other people. One day was "crowded", there were about 3 other people there ;)
After jam packed east coast USa beaches, this was a very welcome change! Many of the beaches have got to be among the top beached in the world. powder soft pink sand, warm turquoise water... I couldn't believe how spectacular they were and no one was there!!! Where else in the world can you experience that?!?
(Actually I think Harbour Island is listed as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.)
The house and surrounding landscaping are really nice. Designer furniture, well decorated. The diving board into the Caribbean sea is a really cool unique touch. First time doing that!
My boyfriend and I were there for 10 days and read a lot of literature and got really tan- not something we do at home! also did a bit of exploring and felt adventurous.
Overall it was a perfect vacation. Highly recommended for beach bums.
Note: Take into account that you will need to rent a car for exploring/going to lots of beaches. Bring bug spray. -

"Two Sisters" is a beautiful retreat in Eleuthra. Each detail of the house is completely charming. The surroundings are simply spectacular. Snorkeling off the private back yard cove, fishing and fabulous diving for all enthusiasts. If not, a Tiki hut and relaxing lounge chairs await your appreciation. The locals couldn't be more friendly, fun and helpful. This is a must do for all!!

We stayed at 2 Sisters Cottage with another couple in Feb. 2011. The house is comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. The views of the sea and tropical garden from the porches are simply splendid- your private tropical paradise. Right out front , in Little Bay, the snorkeling just might be the best in the Bahamas. We saw a huge green sea turtle, dolphins playing in the distance and innumerable other sea creatures. We had it all to ourselves too, except for a rare passing boater. Sublime!
Ps- We really miss that diving board and Tiki Hut- from morning coffee to evening sunsets. Can't wait to return.Response from Mary C Winston - 05/02/2011
