This is a nice cabin for the weekend for a couple to just get away. For us, it was our 40th anniversary. Now that dates us kinda, which leads me to the only criticism of the cabin. The queen bed was way to soft for us "old" guys, but everything else was great. We really did enjoy our time there and would highly recommend this cabin. Mountain Memories advertising does it justice when they say remote. It is indeed remote with no lights and/or sounds around the cabin at night, just complete solitude and quiet. Would we stay there again, yes, even with the soft bed. Thanks Chris for your help to us in locating it at night and the key box. Great customer service!

Prior to leaving on our getaway we received great tips on things to do in the area. Instructions to the cabin were right on. The cabin was what had been promised. Especially enjoyed the screened in deck and the hot tub. Instructions regarding the hot tub needs more detail, cabin was not aired out before we arrived, smelled musty, had to put the heat on and the couch needs a little TLC.

This cabin was beautiful and very comfortable to stay in. The location was farther away from my home than I had anticipated, and the climb up the mountain was challenging. Local contacts were very helpful. Overall, it was a great experience.

Well, first of all, since I was with a 9-year old and a 6- year old there was nothing romantic about it. However, the kids and I had a great time. We did not leave the cabin because the kids had so much fun in the hot tub. I loved being able to sit in the family room and watch the kids in the hot tub. I did not like the fact that there was no dishwasher or washer/drier. I know that these were not mentioned except in the check-out instructions. We didn't have a dry towel after day one.
Our original reservation was for 2 nights at Birch Tree. Upon arrival, we found that the unit was an older dwelling but we made a last minute reservation so this was somewhat expected. Our first night at Birch Tree was fine. As we were preparing for bed on the second night and removed the pillows, a scorpion crawled out of the bed! Needless to say, at that point, my husband and I both realized we would never be able to get any sleep after witnessing a scorpion crawl out of the bed, so we left late that night. We sent an e-mail to Trip advisor who responded that they would notify the property owner. We have heard nothing more. Read more
We have a full staff in town ready to help, I do wish we would have been notified, we would have gladly moved them to another cabin.
Yes with all of the rain this year scorpions are a problem. All cabins are sprayed for them (it takes a special spray). These aren't the ones you see in the movies from the deserts, just tiny little bugs. We have gone through Birch Tree top to bottom, it is ready to go.
Jasper, a very small town.

My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days as we have never been off to ourselves. This cabin was perfect for us!!! Everything you needed was there, clean, romantic, just far enough from everything to still feel like you are way out from the world.

Everything was as advertised and the service was great. The cabin is very comfortable and cozy for a two person get-away. We enjoyed our stay very much. And having the hot tub inside was an added bonus.

Just a little weekend trip we planned. The cabin was very clean with a great view. Chris was very helpful in providing directions and places to see, we followed his directions and never got lost. The cabin looks are deceitful from the outside once you go in you are amazed at the difference as seen in the photos. The hot tub is nice especially after our trip to amicalola Falls (a must see) and those 600+ steps to the top. When you stay if your looking for some good food make sure to visit Charlie's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria the steaks and pasta were both great. The only complaint we had and it had nothing to do with the cabin is several of the local shops and restaurants say they close at ish. We went to one shop that said 5:00ish and they closed at 2:48. That's probably just the difference going to visit a small town.
The added bonus is my wife got to see snow for the first time.

Cozy and secluded yet close to town conveniences. Kitchen has everything you need and then some extras. Wonderful deck with porch swing and breakfast table; hot tub is a bonus! Extras like books, plenty of music choices, and movies are provided as well...even firewood! The service is above and beyond, and there are quite a variety of restaurants and attractions so very close by. We could not have been happier to have found such a "perfect" spot for a special weekend. Pictures just don't do it justice, you must experience it!

This one bedroom cabin is the perfect place for a romantic getaway weekend!! I enjoyed the secluded wilderness setting, but without being too far out of town. I would definately recommend this cabin and look forward to staying here again!
We got engaged at amicalola Falls the weekend of our visit!

We had a great stay here. The cabin is cozy and comfortable -- not luxurious, but charming in a rustic way. The decor is dated, but that's part of its charm. The hot tub is a nice touch, and it was good to be able to watch t.v. while snuggling in bed. The cabin was a little tough to get to in our Camry (you have to drive over some unpaved roads), and wouldn't have been as manageable had it been raining a lot, but the secluded location is really nice. Overall recommended!!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The plan was to spend a quiet weekend in the mountains, with nothing to do but watch football. The cabin was very nice, the fireplace was relaxing and the screened in porch gave us a nice view without worrying about critters. Thankfully, although secluded, the cabin isn't too far from town so you can pick up those forgotten items. It was a peaceful weekend in general and we enjoyed it very much.
Dirty, outdated, and disappointing. Just a shack in the woods w

First of all, you really need a 4-wheel drive to safely access this cabin. I can't imagine a small car making the trip. If it had been raining/muddy, I don't think I wouldn've made it in my truck. This was my 2nd visit to this cabin. The first visit was more than 2 years ago. When we arrived at that time, there was a puddle on the floor from a leaking skylight. It took 6 hours to get someone out to put a tarp on the skylight, effectively ruining our first day. I was extremely disappointed to discover this time that the skylight is still tarped 2 years later! In addition to that, there was a dirty sock in the floor and a water jug and beer mugs in the fridge from the previous guests. There was no soap, shampoo, or extra TP provided. The siverware was dirty...not just water spots, dirty with dried food! There is no dishwasher, and apparently the $70 cleaning charge doesn't cover them washing by hand either. The sheets are old, thin, and stained. The furniture is badly stained and very uncomfortable. The cabinet that houses the tiny old tube TV is almost falling apart. When you open the cabinet, the whole thing loses structural integrity and shifts violently 3-4 inches. The hot tub appeared to be clean, but started smelling fishy (like an aquarium) after the first 24 hrs or so. The fireplace and screened back deck is nice, although there is no view. It's really just a shack in the woods. The only appeal is the indoor hottub, but even that gets boring considering there is no TV, stereo, or even windows to look out while you're in the tub. There are windows around it, but they are below the edges of the tub, so you can't look out them while you're leaned back and relaxing. It could be a great little getaway with very minimal effort put into updating the place. Hopefully they will do that in the future. When considering the value of this cabin, ask yourself if it's worth the price to rent a fireplace and hottub, because that's really all you're getting. Read more
And this from someone that came back to the cabin? Hmmmmm....
Its still on the same, easily traveled, road, I drive there all the time in a Nissan Versa. There is a tarp again, fresh leak, getting it fixed. How much extra soap, shampoo and TP do you need for a two night stay? And yes some of us still watch old tube tvs (it is in color) .
This cabin has the highest return guest rate of any of ours, but I cant help it if you get bored relaxing in a hot tub.
Wow!! Very nice, clean and secluded.
