We had such a great time again at Canoe house. They make everything perfect from start to finish. We stayed with another couple, and there was plenty of room for all of us.
We will back again next year, and are already planning our trip.
Thanks again Tom for all your help

What a fantastic time our family had at Canoe house. The brand new deck and lighting are awesome. Just a perfect place for a family to spend some time together. Thanks again Tom. See you later this summer. Read more
Thanks for getting the air pump. For some reason, they walk away from this cabin. I didn't know it was missing. Did you actually take the tubes in the river? Wasn't it a little cold?
We loved staying in the cabin and playing in the woods and water

We loved staying here. We generally try to get up to the mountains at least twice a year and this trip was one of our best and most memorable.
A great time

We had a great time. Loved being on the water. Kids loved that they could go in the cold creek and get out to warm up in the hot tub. We loved Kayaking, swimming, ate s'mores. We had plenty of room for us and another family of 4. Can't wait to go back again. It was one of the best vacations and ver memerable.
A great adventure with a few bumps in the road.

Overall it was a nice place to stay and the availability of the kayaks was a nice bonus. Being right next to the river made for a perfect setting as well. The only complaints I have is that both showers did not drain well, the bedcovers made to much noise, and one of the kayaks took on a lot of water and I had to stop every 10 minutes and dump it out.

Very nice(*)cabin with easy check-in. Arrived early, had to wait for cleaning. Easy access to river. Everything you need is already there (washer/dryer too) minus your personal items and food. *Caveat... photos/website omit floor insulation hanging from below cabin (unsightly)--visible around float tubes/kayaks, which are secured below cabin. Previous renters also disconnected cable/satellite from t.v.--took a while to find this... maybe should be checked during cleaning; along w/phone svc. Upstream neighbor could stand to clean their lot... looks abandoned. Would still visit again.

What a wonderful cabin to have a vacation in. Everthing was perfect from start to finish. Thank you Tom for taking such good care of us. We have just left, and we are already thinking our next visit. All I can say is we love canoe house.
Ok in a Pinch.

We were disappointed to find out that we could not drive right down to the cabin, but had to park up the hill, and walk our belongings and supplies down the hill, and back up the hill. Also, the neighbors are very close, and the glass doors and some of the windows did not have blinds, thus privacy was an issue, especially at night. One other thing, the stairway leading to the upstairs bedroom is very awkward; an accident waiting to happen.
The Cartecay Canoe house was disappointing, but was ok in a pinch, as we got it at the last minute. Read more
I really didn't know how to respond to your review, I felt crushed and as though I let you down when I read it. I came to realize that I did not put you into the right cabin for your needs, and I apologize.
The people, friends and family who stay at Cartecay Canoe House are looking for a fun place on the water for fishing, tubing and kayaking. People who are looking for that type of activity, love this cabin.
As I recall, we were full at all of our other cabins that weekend and this was to only one available. Yes, there are not curtains on the riverside of the cabin, but there is no on the other side of the river. Yes, there is not a curtain on the door, but the people who own the cabin next door have not been there in over 18 months. I am sorry that Cartecay Canoe House did not fit your needs.

The Cartecay Canoe cabin was a great getaway. The scenery was awesome. Tom was very quick to respond from time of reservation through any questions through check-out. All that is provided is way above what most places would include. It is well worth the money! Loved the hot tub. The only negative was finding out when we got there that we had to walk down steps to get to cabin. This was not difficult for us other than unloading/loading our vehicle. But we would not let it deter us from renting the cabin again. We would definitely stay here again.

The canoe house was great! It was beautiful inside. After a day of floating down river we noticed that the canoe house was a lot closer to the water than most other cabins making for easy access to the water. the only drawback and it really cant be helped is the walk from the drive way to the cabin. If you have lots of bags and coolers and such its a bit tuff. That being said i guess thats the sacrifice you make being closer to the water than anyone else. Awesome place and we will defenitly be back.
Thanks Tom for everything!

Buggy and challenging walk to cabin
Left on 07/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010 | J and D
If that is going to bother you, select a cabin with a screen porch and parking outside front door. Cabin needs a power washing as well.
The parking spot is above the cabin and can be challenging walking up and down especially with bags, groceries etc.
Otherwise this is a great cabin, wonderful location near the river and entertaining. Nature at its best we even saw a bear in the yard. Sound of the river is great, but no screens on windows to enjoy at night. Bring binoculars folding chairs and a big can of off.
Best vacation spot ever

This was our second trip to canoe house, and we just love the cabin. The location could'nt be better, with the cartacay with in 20' of the front door.

The inside cabin was clean, however, the dryer had bed linen still in it, the towels in the bathrooms were still damp and musky. The oven door would not stay closed. The deck was overrun by spiders, therefore, you could not enjoy the outside. The yards were overgrown, the parking location was inconvient. The dock was covered in pine tree tar. But the location by the river was nice. Two of the tubes were busted. Read more

The cabin was perfect and the water was also great. We had an awesome time and already want to book another trip. I did want to let you know that the cabin was a litle dirty, the pullout bed was covered in food and hair and the floor under the couch and chairs was very dirty, we didnt mind at all, just wanted to let you know so you can address it with the person who cleans it. We have two small children so this was nothing for us. I hope we left it clean also. The dishwasher was clogged, but I took the filter apart and fixed it and it seems to be working fine. Thanks again and we cant wait to come again. Read more

The perfect set up--actually exceeded our expectations.
Very relaxing and active in the same breath--if you want to read a book and relax everything you need is there. When you get a little restless take a nice walk and be sure to put in a kayak and really enjoy this river!

Stayed during our teenagers' Spring Break and had a blast!Fishing off the dock, hot tubbing and grilling...river was rough from fresh rain so no kayaking for us but watched others go for it!
