  The condition of the condo needs TLC. The paint is peeling on the kitchen cabinets, the utentils for cooking were not up to par. So if you cook bring your own. The carpet needs to be pulled up and the hall bathroom needs chalking around the floor and shower. The deck needs to be nailed down and stained, so that you don't stump you toes. The deck fell 1 1/2 inches when the owner below us power washed his deck on the 2nd to the last day we were there. Scary. Until these improvements are made, I would not rent this unit again. I could have had a house for the price we paid, not ocean front, but a house. I was disappointed.

  I did check with our Director of Maintenance who was at the property repairing the deck during your stay. He assured me that necessary repairs were made and the deck was inspected for safety afterward.

  Not as good as what we've come to expect

  We are 15 year veterans of Emerald Isle vacation rentals. We usually stay at the Pierpoint Units, which we dearly love. Due to family circumstances we were unable to do our usual week with you, but had the opportunity to come for a few days in the Ocean Reef unit. That particular unit did not seem to be as nice as others we have rented from you. There were several large stains in the carpet and a glob of what appeared to be dried epoxy in front of the master bathroom sink. By far our biggest issue was with the ants that were in the unit. We were told when we called that the owner did not have an exterminating service, but you all did provide ant traps and spray. It was just very offputting to deal with bugs in the kitchen, and we lost several barely opened food items as a result. Definately would not rent this unit again!
  
  As far as location went--we were pleased, just felt the unit could stand some improvements.

  Thank you for your review. I would like to let everyone know that the owner does have his carpets cleaned often and willing to get them cleaned while a guest is there if you find the carpet needs cleaned. They want to make everyone happy while on vacation in Ocean Reef 8B2.
  I'm glad that neither the carpet or epoxy had a big impact on your stay, with the beautiful ocean how could it?! As for the ants the owner does have extermination through his HOA and I'm sorry that you were given the wrong information but happy that you were given ant traps to eliminate the ant problem. While vacationing here on the beach it’s always helpful to Ziploc bag your open items so that little critters don’t invade food. Not everyone practices good housekeeping habits while on vacation so the guest prior to you could have invited them.
  These issues can happen at any home, condo or duplex anywhere you rent, please don’t think that it’s limited to this condo because it’s not!
  Please rent Ocean Reef 8B2 with confidence.

  Beautiful condo !!! Beautiful beach !!!

  Our son found Ocean Reef for us. He was leaving for a third tour in Afganastan and we wanted to have a wonderful week with him before he left. We have also stayed in 10-B2.
  The front row condos are great, very close to the water. The Emerald Isle Realty staff are
  very helpful with making tee times and dinning reservations. We are planning this springs trip, maybe a house this time.
