The house is beautiful, but the kitchen was not well stocked, we did minimal cooking but still found the equipment there was not adequate. The view to the beach is somewhat hindered by the overgrowth of the dunes in front of the house. And the public access next to the house was very busy. The deck furniture was only plastic adorondak chairs. These all seem like trivial things to comment on, given how nice the house is, but we have stayed in many houses on Emerald Isle and these are things we noted. Great master suite! As always the staff at Emerald Isle Realty was excellent and made everything so easy from the planning process to checkout.

This is our second year at EI and our first time at Carolina Sunshine. The accomodation would be 5 star if there had not been a good deal of rug stains that were very obvious in the living room. Also, the sliding glass door to deck in MB was too difficult too open so we did not use that deck. We spent most of our time on the lower deck and absolutely loved it -- I would suggest that higher chairs would be great because the adirondacks were too low to see over the railing and watch the ocean. Overall, loved our stay there! Thank you.

The location is perfect. Ocean front in an area that is not crowded at all. Close to the shopping area on the Island, but also not far from atlantic Beach or Swansboro.
The house is nothing to write home about but is decent. It was clean. The family room furniture is not uncomfortable but not terribly comfortable and there could be more seating facing the television. The beds were adequate but showing wear for sure. Only two televisions; could use more in a house that sleeps 12 or so. Kitchen had pretty much the basics. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment in the furnishings and number of televisions within this property. Carolina Sunshine West is a four bedroom duplex so by health department standards, it will sleep only 8. If you are looking for a property which is more up to date, I would recommend renting a Gold rated property. This duplex does maintain a Silver rating which means furnishings and such will be in good condition and the kitchen will be adequately equipped, as you described.

was very well equipped, particularly the
kitchen. It was comfortable and clean. We
felt very at home there. The location was
great as were the views. The only fault of
the home was the decking. We all got slivers in our hands and feet from the warpped wood. -

We loved Emerald Isle and the location of the office and house. The house set up was perfect for our family and access to the beach was excellent. The house had some repairs that needed to be addressed. The doors were difficult to unlock with the key, blinds were broken/rusted/falling apart, sliding doors did not work, screen doors were torn and did not open, wood decks were difficult to walk on due to splinters, the mattresses were uncomfortable, outside water hose was broken, and the overall cleanliness of the house was average. Linen service was prompt and reliable.

Nicely maintained home. We had no problems for 2 weeks. Wireless worked and was accessible.
Unfortunately the jet dry in the dishwasher didn't work and all the glasses and baby bottles were cloudy.
We're renting this house again for September with my in-laws. -

We have been renting this house for the past several years. Every year it seems to be going downhill. Maintenance seems to be lacking.
Specifically, downstairs a/C was not working. After we reported it, it was fixed on Monday, which mean't someone had to be there. We also reported that the blinds in the BR downstairs were not working right, in fact on the right side, it was barely connected. The blinds overall need to be cleaned and repaired. Most of them are rusted and difficult to use.
It certainly would be nice to have a decent reading lamp in the upstairs BR w/ bath. There really is no good reading light in the entire unit.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 07/08/2010

Great suggestion for reading lamps. So many people enjoy a good book while on vacation. I'm going to pass this information on to our homeowner team who will relay it to the owner. I'll also make a note of the condition of the blinds.

We had a great week with great neighbors. We have been coming to this house since it was first rented. We met our neighbors from New York then and have been coming to this house the same week as they are here.
