We loved vacationing here. The house has everything you could ask for. 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms... enough for everyone. Plus, there are 2 couches (one in the loft and one in the media room) that could sleep a couple of kids, if necessary. The kitchen rocks. It has 2 dishwashers and all the serving plates you could need to prepare a wonderful meal.
Couple important things to note:
1. The actual ocean is about a quarter of a mile away. It doesn't look that far from the balcony, but it is quite a walk. The house is located in front of the sound side, which was perfect for our 4 and 2 year old. They could actually splash around and play and I didn't worry about rip currents and etc. Sometimes it's hard to actually swim in the ocean.
2. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from noon to 5, the shore in the front of the house gets fairly crowded with boats that are coming to park. We didn't really mind it because our kids went out in the morning and then napped in the afternoon. The key is to mark your spot early by putting chairs out. Of course, that's only 2 days of the 7.
3. Give your fridge time to cool down before calling maintenance. Sometimes they set it on a warmer temperature and it takes a while to cool properly.
4. I would recommend renting bikes. Great little streets to ride on near the house. Island Essentials can help you.

Cordelia is a very beautiful home, with spectacular views of the ocean and the sound. The fishing was great. I have been coming to Emerald Isle for many years and the point is my favorite place to stay. The house was top notch. We had everything we possibly could have wanted at our finger tips. The Cordelia is a beautiful home with the most magnficent views from the deck. No matter which direction you looked you saw water and beautiful views. Needless to say, we spent our coffee time in the a.m. on the deck and in the p.m. watching the sunsets and just rocking and talking. It was great to have the beach right outside our door - very convenient to take the kids out there..

The Cordelia is a beautiful home with the most magnficent views from the deck. No matter which direction you looked you saw water and beautiful views. We give the rental office staff 5 out of 5 stars.
We rate the house location 5 out of 5 stars.
We would like to suggest that curtins or blinds be installed in the upper portioins of the windows in the great room. This would cut down on the afternoon heat and glare in both the living room and dining room, yet still keep the bulk of the windows open for the spectacular view.
Please note that the house was listed as having two king size beds -- there is only one in this house and we were disappointed that the master bedroom on the top floor was only Queen sized. This listing must be updated.
There were a few items that needed attention - none of which we reported as being "immediate" such as light bulb needed to be replaced in one of the bathrooms and batteries needed to be replaced in the VCR/DVD remote. The linen service gets our lowest rating: (1) When we arrived, we discovered dirty linens left on the front porch stoop and they remained there the entire week. (2) The first night we all decided to go to bed, we discovered 2 beds had no sheets. We did place a call regarding this and were happy to have sheets delivered within 10-15 minutes. Over all, we were delighted at how well the kitchen was appointed and with the various appliances and dishes/pots/pans, etc. that were available. For the first time that I can remember, I came back from vacation ready to go to work, rested and content to resume my work. It must have been worth the money. Wonderful location, great house. We loved it. The view is unmatched by any property I have been in. Big house, but we used all of it.

This is a lovely house with breath-taking views and sunsets. As much as we enjoyed the wonderful sunshine for two weeks, there were no blinds on the living / dining areas, so we ate with sunglasses on and tried to find a "shady" seat in the house before the sun went down! The beach in front of the house was invaded by boaters, who set up all day camps ~ lots of music included ~ and made the beach virtually uninhabitable or useable for the two weeks! And we thought it was the quiet part of the island!

The views were spectacular and the sound provided a calmer venue for our granddaughter who was with us to play in the sand and water. However, after staying at other homes in previous years, we were disappointed by the lack of some ammenities.
There was no table to have meals outside on the deck - one was left balancing a plate on your lap in a chair. The lighting in the living room area was too bright for people watching TV - slightly less watts in the bulbs or a dimmer switch would be nice. There really weren't too many comfortable spots inside the house to curl up with a book --- needed too many pillows in some of the chairs. Or to do the puzzle that was in the cupboard -- only large place out of the reach of a toddler was the dining table, which interferred with meals. Mattresses need to be changed.....much too uncomfortable. Hot tub cover awkward to put back on by one person. Rather long wait for hot water in the upstairs bedroom for a bath.
Visit was okay and if this had been our first time in Emerald Isle, we might have been content. but we'll find another property the next time.

Cordelia is a beautiful home and the location is exactly where I wanted to stay "at the point". I do have some problems with the bedding situation though. In the description it states: 1 King bed - there was NO king bed in that house. It also said there were 2 Queen beds - there was only 1 downstairs. It's unfortunate that in the master bedroom there was only a DOUBLE bed. Also, it would have been nice to be able to turn the fireplace on because it got cold at night? Also, there was a chair missing from the dining room table therefore we had to try and figure out where that 8th person was going to sit for every meal.
The 10am checkout time is way too early, what happened to the 11am checkout time? Also, very unprofessional were the cleaning crew when they came by on checkout day and started blowing the horn over and over again!!!Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 05/06/2010

The fireplace should have been useable during your stay, we don't see where that or the broken chair was reported to us during your stay. Any time you have an issue please make us aware of it immediately so that we can have the opportunity to fix it for you! We are very sorry about the horn honking upon your check out. We can assure you that it was not an employee of Emerald Isle Realty, perhaps it was a cleaner that was at the wrong home though.

Emerald Isle Realty is the place we have used for many, many years for vacation rentals. The staff is well-organized, professional, and courteous.
The house we rented was beautifully located with gorgeous views of the ocean and the inlet. Our grandchildren especially enjoyed the inlet because of the shallow waters for playing, but we were also close enough the the ocean to enjoy the waves.
Cordelia (the rental property) is wonderfully appointed with almost everything anyone would need for a great vacation. It is in a site that is easy to locate, quiet, and close to shopping areas.
We liked everything about our vacation! -

By far this is the best beach house we have ever stayed in at Emerald Isle Beach. The house is set up perfectly and it had all of the necessities to make our week the best. The location was incredible. We had our own little swimming hole due to the changing tides of the sound and it was perfect for our little kids. Every night we enjoyed a beautiful sunset right from our deck. To top it off, we sat on our deck on July 4th and enjoyed about 6 different firework shows from neighboring towns like Swansboro. We will be back.

Everyone in our party loved this beautiful house and its scenic location - it's hard to pick which to praise first! In summary I would say this is the nicest home in the best location we have ever stayed and we will return!
The house is flawlessly designed and very tastefully furnished. The kitchen is roomy with plenty of space for several people to work and the dining table is surrounded by windows for great views while you eat. Everyone loved their bedrooms and found the beds very comfortable. Plenty of chairs and rockers available for use on the 2 wide porches overlooking the inlet.
The view from the house is spectacular. You can see the ocean, the inlet, the marshes, Hammock's Island, and the mainland - all at 1 time! Watching the ebb and flow of the tides, the shifting sand bars, and the water birds was a favorite pastime for all ages. You can sun right by the dock or walk a little bit to sun by the surf.
Lastly I would say I was very satisfied with the courteous service provided by Emerald Isle Realty. They responded promptly the couple of times I contacted them while at the house.
As I said, we will return and I would certainly recommend this home for its comfort, beauty, and magnificent location. It was an unforgettable experience.

Several couples, our family "by choice," spend each Thanksgiving on Emerald Isle. We were afraid that we might miss facing the ocean while staying at Cordelia; however, it was fabulous. The beach-side of the house is almost entirely windows and we were treated to an ever-changing display of colors, light, water movement, wildlife, and boat traffic. It was the best type of nature documentary. The ocean was literally steps away and, although we didn't have any luck fishing this year, we've had spectacular luck in other years. We hope to stay at Cordelia again. The house was lovely and comfortable and we were really spoiled by having two dishwashers!

This a wonderful home with fabulous views of the water. It is right at the point where the ocean meets the sound. The water is calm which is perfect for small children. The house is right on the beach and the tidal changes bring new surprises. We found many interesting sea creatures. Be sure to rent kayaks. The islands in front of the house are fun to explore. The home is well appointed. We cooked most meals and enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets while we ate dinner. This was the first time we didn't stay in an oceanfront home while in Emerald Isle and we did miss the crashing sound of the waves. However, the serenity of this home was a welcomed change. The surf we longed to be near was just a short walk away along the beach.

We enjoyed Cordelia. There were many wonderful things about this place. The decor was gorgeous, not overdone, and top of the line. We like a little elegance on our vacation. It is new, clean and filled with light. The elevator was a treat for my knees and my husband's back--unpacking the car and packing up again. Only two drawbacks, which may not be a prob for you. One is, lack of seating in the living room and what is there is, sorry, not that comfy. Also, the cottage borders on the spot between ocean and waterway so you have no waves. If you have young children it would be great. But there's not a beach unless you walk 50-100 yards. The beauty of the vista is unsurpassed. If you like a change of pace and a lovely view with lots of light this is it!

We loved this home. We always stay as close to the Point as possible and this one is it. The house was beautiful with exceptional supplies. Very roomy and a place for everyone to relax in their own space. We had to rent a home with an elevator due to a handicap. We encountered two issues: 1) Our first day,the electric stove and microwave was on the same circuit and electric stove was arcing so we could not use either. Maintainence came the next day but we had to eat out the first evening after a long drive. The part had to be ordered so we could only cook with the microwave.
2)The second concern was the immediate drop off to the shore. We had a handicap person in our group that had difficulty getting to the beach.
We had to watch the tides as you could not get back into the house if the tide was high.
I would still recommend this house as it is well loved by the owners and in a beautiful location to observe beautiful sunsets, the channel and the ocean. -

Cordelia is an awesome house located at a great spot on the island. The home is beautifully decorated and has the most amazing views I have ever seen at Emerald Isle. The beach area and water were great for our youn kids. Because it is at the point, the waves were very mild. This allowed our kids to get used to the ocean. The location is also very convinient to amenities on the island. By far, this is the best house we have rented and our favorite location. We highly reccomend it!!
