this was our first "real mccoy family reunion". Our children and grandchildren loved being so close to the beach but they loved the pool too. Some of the furniture was alittle old for what we paid but the size of the beach buddy and location was amazing.
This was our second year, and it was shared with family, who rented a place near us on the beach so we had best of both that Emerald Isle offers. The pool is really a necessity with youngsters and oldsters. The freshening up and adding wifi, was pleasant suprise. If all goes well we will be back again next year.
Loved the condo - it was great. Had a great time and Emerald Isle Realty was very helpful when we had pool issues and took care of it immediately. The location was perfect. Would recommend this to anyone!
As a last minute alternate to our annual vacation in Gulf Shores, AL (due to the oil spill), our group decided to give Emerald Isle a try. The location was great with easy access to the beach, shopping, and activities. We got a special deal on a great house due to our last minute reservation. It had a great view and a comfortable floor plan. The private pool was a wonderful bonus-enjoyed by all! Not sure if we can afford it at full price but we'll definitely consider it for next year.
My family, my brother and his family, and my parents all stayed here. It was a great home for both the adults and kids (ages from 9-16 years). We loved the downstairs area for the kids. The pool was terrific & very clean. The home was spotless; the housekeeper was even cleaning the windows as we arrived, so we had crystal-clear views of the ocean from inside the house. Only two complaints: the nearest access to the beach was a path over the dunes--too steep for my 67- & 73-year-old parents, so it was a bummer to pass by that and go the extra distance to the nice boardwalk down the street. All the other homes by us had a nearby boardwalk, so hopefully one is coming here in the near future. And, the biggest bummer, the subscription Internet service does not work from this address. Please do not waste money paying for it. We had to fight to get any of our costs refunded even though I could never get my email page to load. Better to enjoy an "unwired" vacation, or go to one of the coffee houses for the Internet as needed. Great access to shopping and groceries. I would definitely stay at a Beach Buddy on a return visit. It is obvious that the owners love their home and enjoy sharing it with the rest of us. Thanks for providing our "home" for a wonderful vacation.
The location is perfect! Although it is not oceanfront, it is very close to beach access, and the views are great from the decks. We had two couples, two singles, and one family, and we fit perfectly. I love the downstairs area with the separate suite. This was perfect for our family, as our three year old could get away from the action and settle down for a nap. The house is clean and well provisioned. Thanks!
We enjoyed the stay at Beach Buddy. The kitchen was well stocked, house was clean and well-maintained. Easy access to the beach and we really enjoyed the pool. Bathrooms were a great size.
A couple improvements ... INTERNET. Unfortunately, some of us had working vacations and although we tried to buy a week of TWC Speedzone, it was unavailable in that area. At this point, I think all homes on the island should include internet.
Maybe some additional (comfortable) seating in the living area. We weren't able to accomodate many people there so we used the TV's in the bedroom ...they could be bigger!!
Please check on the refrigerator - it really struggled all week to keep things cold. The a/c was not working well and the upstairs maintained about an 80 degree temperature and wasn't fixed until later in the week.
Overall, nice home...we had 15 people. It is tough in the living area but the bedrooms were good.
We had a wonderful time at A Beach Buddy. The ocean in the morning and the pool after lunch was a perfect combination for the entire family. Lots of room for everyone to do their own thing...read, play games, watch tv, puzzles, and play with the grandchildren! :)
The kitchen was fine except we needed a funnel to make tea. We purchased one in town and left it for the next family.
We loved the big dining room table!!! It really made a difference in our choice of rental houses.
