We rented both sides of this cottage. It is nicely furnished and in a prime location near the Point. The only thing that could be a negative for elderly people and small children is/are the spiral staircases. Otherwise, we were very pleased with the cottage. As always, we had excellent service from the rental agency.

We rented both sides for a family get together during Thanksgiving. We absolutely loved the house's location at the Point. The views from the house was absolutely spectacular - sunrise/sunset and watching the dolphins play! Also a great location if you like collecting shells. Loved that the linens and towels were provided. The staff I dealt with at Emerald Isle Realty were fantastic - friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We certainly will be back!

We have rented the West side for 4 years and recommended the East side to our neice from arizona. We have always been happy with check in and cleaniness of the units.
Our family could not check in until after 6:00 pm because of late cleaning yet the cleaners were at this unit at 9:00 am on check out day with the new renters checking in at 1:00 pm.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 07/26/2012

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with check in. Our check in time is 4 p.m., but, on occasion, our cleaners do need the hours of 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to complete their work. Certainly, when you are provided keys to the property by our office, you are permitted into the home and our housekeeping teams know that your anxious to start your vacation. Because of this, refrigerators and kitchens are normally the first areas cleaned as they know you'll want to unload groceries and such. We do offer a 1 p.m. check in for a nominal fee and will happily add this to many reservations, some exclusions apply, but ask our vacation planners about this when booking your next stay.

This was a really nice oceanfront property. We loved the house's location at the tip of Emerald Isle. The views from the house and attached deck were awesome. The decor of the home was bright with beachy colors. We were also happy that sheets and towels were included in the rental. The only negatives were the charcoal grill was missing parts and unusable, and some of the cookware needs replacing. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely rent this property again.

The locationbeing close to the ocean was wonderful. Both sides of the duplex were fairly well stocked with pots and pans for cooking. However, one large burner on the stove did not work and we called maintenous and the checked it but didn't fix it. Could be they need a new stove.

Drw is a good value, because it is listed with 4 bedrooms but actually has 5 (one downstairs); the view is stellar. we rented both sides of the duplex.

this house was lovely and well maintained. i had the feeling the paint was fresh and the kitchen clean. the only trouble we had was when the water would run out after three had showered. but once we discovered this it was okay to moniter when and how much we were using the water. the views are the best and the location wonderful if you like some privacy but not seclusion. highly recommended and i plan to return

This is a great house in a great location. Although the sand had washed away from in front of the house, it only proved to be a slight inconvenience. You still have plenty of uncrowded beach space and we enjoyed watching the changes in tide that form a HUGE tidepool at low tide. (Anything from ankle deep to several feet in depth). Also, due to being next to the inlet, you are able to experience both sunrises and sunsets. The house was very complete and lacked for nothing. The spiral staircase was a nice feature but offers a challenge when taking suitcases upstairs. The deck furniture is in dire need of replacement but we had chairs of our own so it didn't matter. The addition of a new gril was unexpected. We were a family of 2 adults and 4 teenagers and everyone had a great time.

Nice place, though anyone with physical infirmities might have trouble with the spiral staircase to the upper level, as it is steep and narrow.
We actually rented both sides (East and West), which was lucky, because only one side had a coffee maker, and only the other side had a grill. The grill was on its last legs and was pretty rusty, so they really need to replace it (with two grills, one for each side).
Overall, we enjoyed it. The house's location near the western tip of the island is a neat feature. The nearby beach has a complex layout of sandbars and tidal pools (depending on the tide) that provides lots of interesting places for kids to play.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 01/26/2012

I, too, like this area of the beach for the same reason you mentioned, great place for kids to play as the pools of water do often occur. Its also an excellent location for shelling!
I'm happy to let you know that charcoal grills were added/replaced at both sides of this property in 2011. As for the coffee pot, our housekeeping department does maintain an inventory of such things so please let us know if you need something that isn't at the property and we'll provide this for your use.

We love Emerald Isle and have been going there for years. This cottage was way down on the end where there has been much beach erosion. It suited us because the currents were not as strong and even my 80 something mother could get in during low tide. During high tide the water came up covering the bottom steps of the deck.
