Good value for the off-season price
This house was a good value for the price. The parking is ok if you have small vehicles. The deck is uncovered, so it saw little use, even though the temps were not that hot. A covered deck would be a great improvement. Also, the bathrooms were a bit of a squeeze and the "room" in laundry is a misnomer...maybe room enough for a midget, and you go outside to get to it. On the positive side, the kitchen was well enough equipped and the large dining table was a plus, the living area is well laid out. I don't understand why so many beach houses that are built with renatls in mind are so short on bathrooms.
Great views but needed some TLC.
During our stay we had a few issues with the home. We found that several areas of the home had not been cleaned properly. First, the awning above the breakfast bar had quite a bit of dirt on it, the ceiling fan in the living room hasn't been cleaned in ages. We found trash under the love seat in the living room and under the tv stand in the loft. We found trash and old food behind the love seat in the loft. The dryer in the laundry room obviously wasn't working for the people before us because we found 2 soaking wet blankets laying in there. Then we went to use the dryer and sure enough it wasn't working. The lights in the dining room burnt out and it tooks 2 requests to the office before someone came out and replaced them. The house is nice, and yes, we've booked it for next year, but it is in need of more TLC then it was given before our arrival.

I see that after you called, the lights and the dryer were both fixed during the week you were here. I also see that the dryer was a simple fix of replacing the belt. I'm very sorry that you had an issue in the first place. The guests prior to you did not report the dryer or we would have had this taken care of prior to your arrival.
As for the cleaning issues it's very important that you call housekeeping department directly the moment you find anything that is not satisfactory with the cleanliness of your rental home. We want the opportunity to fix it for you and your family! We do not move furniture to clean in between guests so if you notice anything like this please don't hesitate to give our housekeeping department a call, we will send another team out to address your specific concerns.
I'm so glad that you rebooked for 2010, we can't wait to have you and your family here on our island again!

Was once a nice home, but needs repair/updating
Emerald Isle Realty service was excellent. Home was "ok" in that it was as described. However, minor maintence problems marred the stay. Many light bulbs were burnt out including ceiling bulbs that we could not reach. The carpets were severely stained and dirty appearing. The shower heads all had significant scale buildup. The house smelled musty and felt damp. The AC did a very poor job of removing humidity and as a result the bedding was damp feeling, the bathrooms never felt dry and even the paint in some rooms felt moist. The deck needs repair with large loose splinters and loose boards. Air conditioning was spotty with some rooms very cold and others very hot. The laundry room was difficult to find as it was in a room on the ground level in the carport area. If you are allergic to mold I would suggest that you stay out of this laundry room.
The kitchen was well funished.

I've reported the light bulbs, AC problems, deck problems and shower heads to maintenance for them to take care of. Housekeeping has scheduled a carpet cleaning to take care of any stains.

Great oceanfront home
We really enjoyed the oceanfront deck and especially the upper TV area where the kids could play their video games. Because the TV area was in a loft, we could keep an eye on them while enjoying our time alone downstairs.
We also liked the TV in the kitchen area.
Great views. While cold in May, it was nice and quiet down there.
