We rented both sides of summertime for vacation with a total of 4 families. The house had plenty of space to meet our needs. Waking up and looking out onto the ocean is amazing and the biggest plus of the trip. The outdoor deck is great. The description of this house should include that the third floor master on both sides have a double bed not a queen as you would think. Not bad but if you were planning on a queen...
The furnishing/electronics are in desperate need of updating but are clean and serviceable. But I hope your not coming here to watch tv on the couch.
The biggest disappointment was the service by the matenance department. Reported a missing handle of the sliding glass door on Sunday and had to call again to get it fixed on Tuesday with an old paint chip replacement. Was told on Sunday they had a new one on order but paint chipped?

Update:
We did check the bedding in both sides of the Summertime duplex and the beds in the upper floor Master bedrooms are Queens. There isn't a large difference in a Queen and a Double, just 6 inches across, so often a Queen is mistaken for a Double bed.

Thank you for your review of your stay at Summertime East and West. It pleases me to know that you and your family enjoyed this duplex and I hope you will revisit soon. I'm sorry to hear of the issue you experienced with the missing door handle. Often, it can take time to get replacement parts to perform a fix so we will use something which we have available to suffice until the needed part arrives. I trust this is what happened in the case of the handle which was used to fix the sliding glass door. I am sorry that this wasn't explained to you and left you questioning the level of service which was provided. Thank you again for your feedback. There were dirty linens left at the house. Late in the evening someone from the linen company came to the wrong house. I asked them to take the dirty linens and they did.
The appliances are a problem. It took 3 days for the refrigerator to begin to properly cool the groceries. One of the stove burners did not work until I fixed it. The Oven/stove seemed under size (depth) of standard stoves.
The sliding door to the deck was locked using a broom stick. The kitchen was over stocked with some items and missing others.
Generally, the overall impression was that the house, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. were outdated... Thus the house was over priced. I have had better houses for the money in the past.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 09/08/2011

We had a great time at this beach house. We had more than enough room and plenty of hot water for showers. The weather was fantastic and the beach is the best. The price is expensive and that will keep us from returning for some time to come. Contacting EIR was impossible on check-in day. The number provided for checking on unit readiness just went into a loop and we could never get through on any of the phone numbers we had. A basic grocery list would help for new vacationers. We knew we needed all our food, but forgot items such as trash bags, and salt and pepper.

We had an amazing time this year during our family vacation. Summertime West was the perfect size house and the views from the balconies were amazing. One of the best features of this house was that the bedrooms were separated from the main living area. The living area that connected with the Kitchen made it great for entertaining. At the end of the night everyone was able to go to their own rooms and relax in privacy.

We have been vacationing @ EI for 10+ years. This house, while it has alot of steps, ranks as one of the best we have stayed in. Very clean, love that it had 4 bathrooms! And no bugs!!! That is a plus as we usually have to deal with ants. Would most definitely stay here again!

The house was on a wonderful lot, the views were nice, the layout was very good. We would have rented it again this year (2009) but did not want to pay the rent in October 2008 when we would not be going until June 2009. We all thought this was a bit inconsiderate in light of the failing economy.
We had been renting from Emerald Isle Realty for 30 years. We rented at least 3 duplexes (6 individual parts of duplexes) for a week in June since 1979. We are not renting from Emerald Isle this year because we did not appreciate their payment policy!
