We found the rental were clean and the kitchen well equiped. My wife,son, daughter and spouses very pleased with all aspects of our stay. My wife and I had made a trip to our stay to check out places. We meet with Dee Tharpe in the office. She was exceptionally helpful in helping us pick out a place. It was enjoyable to work with her.

We love the location and beautiful ocean views this home affords. The floor layout is great for family meals, games, and making memories together. The decks are wonderful and new rockers on the main deck are really nice. Our grandchildren enjoyed watching dolphins, collecting shells, and crab hunting at night. Great Place to stay!

The size of the home was excellent. Everyone could spend time in the great open floor plan or retreat to their rooms for privacy. We really liked the floor plan of the home and how it was decorated. We would gladly refer that home to others as well as consider it for ourselves again in the future. The only complaint we would have was the broken vertical blinds that had not been replaced in some of the bedrooms.

This place was not as fancy as some of the others. But it was very clean and fit the size of our family very well. Everyone got there own bathroom and personal space. The walk to the beach is not bad. My 75+ yr old grandparents made the walk at least once a day. But they could see us on the beach from the balconies, and from the seating area on the walkway to the beach. We had one person in the family that could not handle lots of steps. We liked the fact the enterace steps are enclosed and not outside in the weather like most places. Also there is a bedroom with a full, maybe queen sized bed on the main level(some of the places we looked at had bunk beds and singles). So they did not have to go up steps exept to leave and come back unless they chose to walk to the beach. Plus the staff at Emerald Isle Realty really worked with us on finding a property in our price range that fit the requests we had: not a lot of steps, not a lot of walking, clean, No bunk beds or single on the main level, 4 bedroom(this property had 5 bedrooms so more then enough), and a 4 bathroom count. We would stay here again!

It's hard to have a bad time at the beach, but little things like no screens on the doors and holes in many window screens or windows that would not stay open made for lack of breezes that meant having to use the AC more than necessary. Also, a toaster oven would be nice. Mostly it was an OK place for the price.

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment when you found that windows and doors couldn't remain open. It is not required that a home have screens, but when they are in place our maintenance department is happy to repair these. Great house in a great location. The kitchen was very well equipped. All the bedrooms were large and roomy. The bonus room is great for kids. The 4 full baths were appreciated by all! Lots of puzzles and games if you get a rainy day. We have stayed in many houses/duplexes in Emerald Isle over the past 15 years, and this one was one of the best as far as price/house/location.
Emerald Isle Realty employees are always friendly and helpful. We didn't have any maintenance problems at Summertime East, but we've had a few minor problems other years, and EI Realty has always dealt with them promptly! Highly recommended! -

We had a wonderful time at the beach! The duplex was ok It needs some TLC! Fresh coat of paint in most of the rooms the bathrooms all needed some attention and the kitchen needs some more cook ware!This isn't our first time renting at the beach so I am comparing with other places at same price!

Great Choice

I found "Summertime" through the recommendation of a trusted friend at Emerald Isle Realty, who knew my requirements in a beach cottage. Even though I was making the reservations from Oklahoma, I knew my friend would make a good choice on my behalf. I have been visiting this beach area for over 40 years and know most of the 3 bedroom cottages but on this trip I had 8 retired couples who were going to see Emerald Isle for the first time and I needed a much larger cottage. Located right on the beach, the view of, and access to the ocean was excellent. We loved the adjoining door which made socializing so easy and having two kitchens proved to be a real plus. The floor plan was very livable and I would consider the cottage well equipped. The furnishings were attractive and comfortable. The covered porch was a requirement for my group since we like to sit on the porch when the sun is high or when there is a beautiful thunderstorm to watch. The very private open deck on the upper level was nice too. I look forward to the next time I have a need for 4 bedrooms, or preferably 8 bedrooms, and it is at a time when the rate is affordable for me. I would definitely request this cottage and recommend it to others.

We wanted to rent a beachfront vacation home for a family vacation as our son is in the Marines and was being deployed to Iraq. We wanted to spend time with him and his family, his wife, who was pregnant at the time, and our 5 year grandson before he left. Our eldest son and daughter joined us from California for a few days to visit with their brother, as did my sister and brother-in-law.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at this beachfront property. We woke up in the mornings and had just a few steps before we were on the beach, where we spent most of our time. Many happy memories were made during our stay and our family grew even closer together.
The house as far as size fit our needs perfectly. However, the cleaniness of the property wasn't quite up to our standards. My husband and I are regulars at renting beachfront vacation homes in the US and foreign countries, and unfortunately this one rated the lowest. The rust in the bathrooms and kitchen was quite bothersome. The walls in the house were dirty and scuffed, and definitely needed to be cleaned, or a fresh coat of paint applied.
We would recommend this house to others, if they are able to look past the few downfalls.

Everyone in our group really enjoyed this rental! The only problem we had was w/the DVD equipment. Some of the equipment seemed to be missing parts/accessories to work but this was a low priority as we were there to enjoy the beautiful beach and the unit had great views from all floors. Unit was also nicely furnished.
