My family has been coming to Emerald Isle for 16 years now...We always book with Emerald Realty and sometimes get the same place & other times check out a new home...have never been disappointed in any place we stayed and the weather has always been good to us...We come the same week (last week in May) oceanfront or 1st row our choice its a tradition
..our time to gather as a family and enjoy time together... -

We were looking for a place to accommodate an extended family group, and Sandcastle East was perfect for us. While all oceanfront properties tend to be very pricey in peak season, this one felt like it was a very good value. It's a well maintained house, with all expected amenities in good working order. We would definitely stay here again.

My family and I stayed in Sandcastle East for the week of april 1 - 8, 2012. We were fortunate enough to have the owners staying in the west side of the house for the week. The house was beautiful and was an excellent value for the price! We have stayed at many different houses at Emerald Isle, but this was one of the most memorable. We had family coming in and out all week, and the amount of room in the house was always sufficient. Our family absolutely adores Emerald Isle, and we have loved every house we have stayed in. The only thing that was a downside was that there was no "welcome bag" in the house, and we also had to call after 6 p.m. to get our linens (they had not been left at the house either). Besides this tiny setback, the week was perfect! The weather was a little chilly, but that didn't stop us from having fun! We will definitely be back at E.I. for our 2013 vacation and hopefully many more to come! P.S. If you need a family to house-sit for you, we are only a ten-hour drive away!!! :)

The weather was great! The ocean was calm, warm and great! Good time with the family, grandson is now an official 'ocean Lover'. Spring cleaning need to be done in the unit, the vent above the kitchen sink had dust down the side of the cabinet and the window sill in the back bedroom was really dirty. We have stayed at sandcastle before and would/will consider it in the future! Hope to be back next year

We have been coming to Emerald Isle for many years and this year was great as usual. Sandcastle east was very comfortable and clean . The only complaint would be a new washer and dryer.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the home. The seating was somewhat limited in the living room, and the kitchen could use some more pots and pans, but overall, we had an excellent experience.

Exceeded all expectations. Sandcastle East is an exceptional value for the money! View is great, huge deck and balcony to enjoy it from. Several members of our family have come to Emerald Isle for years. This was the first year for some of us to come together. It was great! Can't wait to come back!

The home was perfect for our family. Bedrooms were large and had plenty of space to put things. Kitchen was well equipped. Loved the outside hot and cold shower for the kids. Being on oceanfront was fantastic. Having the washer and dryer on the main floor was a plus, but they are small and the dryer took a long time to dry things.

We took the opportunity to come to E.I early and Sandcastle was the option we decided to go with instead of a hotel room. Sandcastle had been updated recently, and it was very charming, clean, and comfortable. The beds were excellent. It suited our needs perfectly! We enjoyed meeting the owners of the property, they were friendly and courteous.
Check-In was at Emerald Isle Realty was swift. Upon checking out we were offered and allowed to stay at Sandcastle while Margaritavilla was being prepared. I thought this was a very nice touch, and my over all customer service experience with Emerald Isle has been a 10 out of 10.

The property was easily located, my concern was finding the Realty company and not hitting the right entrance. We had to do some backtracking to get to the office.
The property was clean and had a beautiful view. The size and layout was great. We had a wonderful time and it was quite relaxing out on the porch in the rockers first thing in the morning.
However, I would recommend that you advise the occupants that the hot water is backwards for either one or two of the bathrooms. We did have a few ants visit us but nothing out of control. -

This duplex has a wonderful porch/deck facing the ocean( in fact 2) but the rest of the house needs to be updated. There were pieces of the ceiling falling off in the living room.One of the barstools had a screw that fell out, making the chair unsafe to sit in. The porches/deck need to have the spindles closer together or a piece of lattice put up in front. The spindles are way too far apart for a crawling infant or even a toddler. There were not enough chairs on the porches/decks (top deck didn't have any chairs on it at all).I really feel that the house is too small to accomodate eight people comfortably.
The location was good-not too far from restaurants or the grocery store.
We would most likely not rent this particular place again.
Just a suggestion regarding the comforters/quilts that are on the beds:
Could the owners possibly have 2 sets for each bed so that a clean set could be left with linens(if furnished in price, which they were with this house). I always wash the comforter/quilt when I arrive(time consuming and not he way I want to start my vacation). This time I really had to, as there was blood on one of the comforters.
The duplex was right on the beach and only a short walk to it, which made it easier when there are small children and everything that goes with them involved!

We loved having four bedrooms, it was a better arrangement for our group than 3 bedrooms. The place looked a lot better than the photos, we were very pleasantly surprised. The refrigerator on the East side was not cooling very well, even though the freezer section was plenty cold and I was able to make ice cubes several times a day.
We would love to come back next year. We loved the balconies, the private one upstairs and the common one below provided the shade we needed to sit, relax and enjoy the water. -

Sandcastle was the ideal escape for my husband & me. We came to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary on September 12th & enjoyed the week just relaxing. The home was clean & neat upon our arrival, with plenty of linens provided, and the decor is fresh & actually suited to our own style.
The decks offer a spectacular view of the ocean & sunrises & sunsets as well. We spent our days either sitting in the rocking chairs or walking the beach--both very relaxing.
The kitchen had a supply of newer cookware, dishes, glasses, etc. a nice change from our past experiences.
We have never stayed in an ocean front home before, & I can't imagine ever staying anywhere but ocean front again. It was wonderful to just walk down the boardwalk from the deck to the beach. We loved it!!
Overall Sandcastle East is the place to be! We would recommend staying in this home. -

My family is all getting older and my mother and brother are very sick and wanted one last time for the entire family to get together. My family (21 of us in all) wanted a house big enough for all of us yet small enough to all get together for meals and talking. This is what we found in Sandcastle E & W. The beach was great and the time together was just what we needed. This was the first time the entire family got together and it was perfect. I recommend all families doing this at least once in their lifetime.
