Villa Del Mar deserves it's emerald rating. Gorgeous home, reverse floor plan was enjoyed by all. My husband and I stayed on the upper level, love that master suite. My daughter, son and the grandkids loved having a level all to themselves, with the open kitchen/family room providing lots of "together time". The kids rented bikes and the drive/patio/carport area provided plenty of safe biking. Fabulous views and easy access to the ocean was the cherry on our "Sunny day" of a vacation!

This was our first stay at Villa del Mar, but it's definitely not going to be our last. We've already reserved a week for summer 2013. We had 3 couples and 3 children under 4 years of age for the week's vacation, and there is plenty of room for all of us to spread out. The access to the beach is so convenient for our grandchildren. Everyone loved the pool. Our only suggestion is to switch the queen bed for a king-size bed in the downstairs bedroom so each couple would be more comfortable and the master bedrooms would be comparable. The house was immaculate and well stocked. We hope whoever buys the house, which is for sale, will continue to rent it each summer. Thank you!

From the beginning of our search for the perfect family vacation home Shirl at EI was a huge help. That was a lot of money for us grandparents to come up with for a prime time first class house! It was so.o.o worth it!! Villa Del Mar is such a wonderful home. We had eleven people ages 3 to 72! The accomodations of the home were excellent and the veiw...will be in our memories forever. We've been visitors to Emerald Isle since the early '80's... the greatest beach available on the east coast. A special thanks to Shirl and Gina for making our stay extra special. God Bless.

The house was wonderful, clean, and just right for our family. The kitchen was well stocked, the pool was clean, and the floor plant fit out families needs to a tee. There was a extra room for the kids to hang out and another one for the adults, which didn't happen often because we all wanted to be together. It was so nice to be able to walk out to the beach and set up our umbrella's, tents, vb net, etc. and spend the day just enjoying each others company. The children and our grand kids could come in and out at their leisure, stop at the pool, get some food or go for a bike ride. The dolphins and pelicans were a delight to see everyday and the sunsets were spectacular. Since our family is so spread out from NY, NC, Utah, to Wash State it is hard to get together, but we would definitely rent this home again. The hard woods floors were beautiful and the convenience of the elevator to get our luggage upstairs and bring groceries in was a plus. The men all went fishing one day and brought home dinner and the grill was great for that. Thanks for keeping it so nice and clean. That was one of the big reasons we rented this house.

This property was the perfect place for a perfect vacation. The ocean views were incredible, the spacious rooms were wonderful, the pool and outdoor space was fabulous, and the amazing artwork and decor were icing on the cake. The property owners thought of everything so we didn't have to. I'd highly recommend this property to a family that really wants to pamper themselves and spend "quality" time together.

This is our 7th stay at Vila del Mar. As usual the place was spotless on arrival.
The main living area TV has been updated; the rest need to be. The main living area seating is getting tired and needs to be replaced or refurbished.
All in all, an enjoyable stay.

This home was wonderful, when we arrived and looked around we were impressed with how clean and well maintained it was. The ocean views from the living/kitchen area were breathtaking, we couldn't get enough. The covered outside deck where we had our coffee in the mornings and cocktails at night was so comfortable and relaxing.
The pool was great too, and having the outside shower and bathroom right there was perfect in fact my parents used that shower instead of the one in the room because it was so nice and they felt "saferâ€, the ones in the rooms could be more handicap friendly with some safety handles. We would have also liked it if the main bedrooms all had king size beds, other then that our stay was very memorable and we will definitely rent this home again.

This was our fifth house rental in Emerald Isle after decades of condo rentals. Previously, we each had our favorite locations, but after our stay at Villa del Mar, we all agree that it is our favorite. The layout works well with living rooms on both floors; the open kitchen/living room are a great gathering space; there is plenty of outdoor space on all levels; and the pool is the largets/best of all our visits. The outside shower/bathroom accessible from the pool is so clean and usable. The elevator was handy for move in/move out. The view from the house is just fabulous. We look forward to staying at VDM in the future.

good location, facilities - the only negatives were the hot tub had been removed but was still listed in the literature and the dogs next door bark continuously when outside - very distracting. also the pool light is a hazard as it will not remain in place

I have stayed in this home several times since it was new. It is beginning to show some age due to wear and tear. Furniture and worn mattresses need some updating, as do kitchen appliances. Bringing back an ice maker would be nice. Dinky new pool is useless, and perhaps an excuse to charge more. Nice but not great.

Our week stay at Villa del Mar consisted of Mom, Dad; 2 adult children - 1 married with spouse and 2 small children; a married couple friends of the family for over 40 years; and the brother and spouse of Mom. Everyone had a fabulous time at this vacation home. It exceeded our expectations from the on line video. We had so much room and the home was decorated beautifully. The weather could not have been any better. September is a terrific time for the beach. Restaurants were not real busy, there was no humidity and it was still warm enough to enjoy the beautiful pool and ocean water. My daughter walked in the door and said she was ready to book the house for a trip next year! It was so impressive. All the homes in the area are beautiful and the landscaping left me in awe.

This has to be the most fabulous place on the Island. We have been coming every other year for 17 years and have stayed in many locations, all beautiful, but Villa del Mar topped them all. The best feature is having the beach access and the pool. We had a three year old and a 17 year old. Everyone loved playing in the pool at all hours of the day and night, and of course the ocean is always fantastic. The pool was appealing to everyone for different reasons. Sun bathing, lap swimming, basketball, and just floating. The kitchen was fantastic and well equipped for all the dinners and birthday celebrations we held. Everyone had a great bedroom, and separate bath. Also, the beds were fantastic! The great room, the porches, the extra sitting room, all were great features for gathering and relaxing.

This was our first trip to Emerald Isle and was a family vacation with our daughters, sons-in-laws and grandchildren. Our grandchildren range in ages from 17 to 6. From a brochure that showed Emerald Isle Realty we went on-line looking for the perfect vacation home. The home was magnificent. It had everything we needed, bedrooms, baths, linens, a large kitchen, with ample utensils, etc., sitting rooms, large decks with rocking chairs, elevator to make taking luggage up a breeze, ample parking for our vehicles, a lovely pool and a view of the beach that was to die for. The house was spotless and well maintained. We did have a problem one day with the refrig/freezer, but that was taken care of quickly by maintenance. I also might add, they were very nice and knowledgeable. While taking in some local sites, most of the time was spent in the pool, the ocean or on the beach. The men and boys went on a very enjoyable fishing trip, with info provided by the Realty Concierge. We would like to thank Emerald Isle Realty for their hospitality and expertise. We also thank God for bringing us to this beautiful place where his wonders and miracles were everywhere around us.

The house has large rooms, the kitchen is quite big located on the 3rd floor together with a great room with a magnificent view of the beach. The master bedroom is on the same floor very large and beautiful with a seating area. All the bedrooms are very well decorated and large. The family room on the 2nd floor was wonderful for the kids, they loved to play there. The size of the pool was perfect and the furniture around the pool very nice and comfortable. Hope we can go back next year.

Nice furnishings, great views, closest to the beach we've ever been; this house was definitely set up for family entertainment. I was dissapointed my daughter and grandchildren could not make the trip this year. The built in grill with granite counter and sink is fabulous, very nice to have it up under covered decks for the few rainy days we had. The hot tub has great views of the waters edge even though it is also nicely under the covered deck. The only thing I would have done differently was put the faucet with hose for feet washing further out on the walkway closer to the seating area to keep the sandy feet mess away from the house and the walkway cleaner. The kitchen was fully stocked except for an electric can opener. A source for outside music would have been nice.

Every thing; house condition, location, service and amenities are consistently good. On arrival the house is always exceptionally clean.
The lack of a servicible ice maker could be a draw back however, the refg. ice maker provided all the ice six adults could use. -

This property is located on a lovely stretch of beach in a beautiful community. The house is very well equipped and has an ideal floor plan for a large family to enjoy.
I would recommend improvements to the furnishings, however. The entire house is done in wicker and is not the most comfortable furniture to cozy up to. The decor could be up-dated and made to feel more welcoming in a house of this quality. It would be nice to have a larger upper deck with more lounge furniture and some end=tables so the family could enjoy the views and be able to have drinks and appetizers. The lower deck is nice and large, but it is not convenient to the kitchen, and has no furniture, with the exception of 2 rocking chairs.
While we were there, our first 2 days were interrupted by 3 different maintenance men for non-essential work. Once we complained to EI, this was stopped and we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay in peace.

If you are looking to spoil yourself and 11 or so of your closest friends or family members - Choose this place! We can't say enough about the accommodations, the views, the comfort of the floor plan and the grounds themselves. Our stay was during the Easter holiday and we were truly treated to a wonderful time. You will see dolphin daily - You will have oppotunities to enjoy ocean and sound shelling. The beach is clean and dunes nicely protect the homes. We sighted a whale, dolphins, pelicans, seagulls, sand pipers, and more, even deer on the dunes. This is a wonderful community setting that opens to a fabulous stretch of beach! Try it - Just save us a week once a year! We will be back!

My five cousins, myself and our spouses have been renting a cottage at Emerald Isle for the past six years. Villa Del Mar was our fourth different cottage -- changing as our needs have changed over time. When we rented with Emerald Isle Realty they told us if we rented from them once, we would never go back to anyone else. If Villa Del Mar is an example of their rentals, they were right. The house exceeded all of our expectations. It was very well furnished, had more than an adequate supply of linens (beds already made), great outside features and plenty of parking for so many cars and a boat. No doubt in my mind that we will go back there this year. We can't wait!!

We have enjoyed visiting this home five separate times. The lay out is lovely, views are great, the beach is nice, and the community is very quiet. The home was recently sold. The previous owners used to include in the rental price a mid-week "tidy up" by the cleaning service, but the current owners do not, nor do the current owners allow you to check in even a minute early even if the cleaning was completed an hour prior, which is a bit nit-picking at this rental price. On our last stay the cleaning service then arrived an hour early, before check out time to begin their work. Given their check in policy, that did not seem quite fair. If you are particular about cooking utensils, pots and pans - bring your own. Over the years, the quality and condition of these has deteriorated. Overall upkeep of the home and grounds seems to have declined recently.

Family traditions and leaving a legacy is a priority for us. It was easy to plan family vacations with our grown children and their spouses a few years ago, but the real excitement/challenge began when the grand children arrived. During our last vacation at Villa del Mar, all seven of our grandchildren (ages 1-5) and their parents joined us for a wonderful time at the beach. This was our second stay here.
Even in November the times at the beach were wonderful. Everyone especially loved watching the dolphins during breakfast. The layout of the house allowed each family to have their own retreat.
The garage-level bathroom and shower is easily accessed during outdoor activities. The hot tub was utilized and enjoyed by all.
The layout of the house allows for great views of the ocean. The kitchen is stocked appropriately with all necessary amenities (two refrigerators, two dish washers, ice machine, etc.) We were able to stock all of our food for the entire week without storage issues.
We must add that the elevator made arrival and departure very easy. (There is a lot of "STUFF" when you travel with seven children!) One trip on the elevator with each family's cargo and the job was complete.
Even the youngest members of our family ask "When can we go back to the Green House at the beach?"
Without planning it, the "Green House" has become the icon for a family tradition.

It was serendipity that an Emerald Isle Real Estate Brochure was delivered to our house. After looking through it we started planning a family get-together for early May. Our son and daughter and their families were able to join us, including 4 granddaughters ages 4, 5, 2+ and 2-. We had fantastic weather and the girls loved playing in the ocean and on the sand and especially getting buried in the sand and covering Uncle Chris with sand. It was a wonderful week to spend fun quality time together. Villa del Mar is a fantastic home and wonderfully decorated with panoramic ocean views from the kitchen, dining room and living room. Plenty of bedrooms and space for the 9 of us. Having an extra refrigerator and dishwasher was wonderful. We were able to rent cribs for the 2 youngest. Our own boardwalk out to the beach made it so easy. A huge grill near the hot tub was great for dinners. We'd love to go back!
