The august Moon Teahouse is a very romantic retreat for any couple who wants extreme privacy and a one of kind view of the sound. My husband and I loved our time there and hope to make a return trip within the year. When you are in the august Moon house looking out of the sound, you feel as though you are the only two people in the world.

Chose the Teahouse because of the small beach and secluded setting. Beach was a mess full of construction debris, rocks and asphalt. Lot was over grown at the edges and rough weeds dominated to yard. The huge house next door was under construction making for a far from peaceful experience. Interior was clean and well kept. Not sure why the broken futon was there. They have a neat set of journals the go way back suggesting it is worthless and it should go away. From a safety stand point the rear deck railing are falling apart and there are exposed wires above the bathroon tiles. Very disappointed.

We rented the august Moon Tea House for our honeymoon. We rented it for the "privacy" advertised. However, not only does it rest between two huge homes that can see right in the windows, it is also surrounded by the neighbors' long docks that take over the visibility of the backyard. While we were there, there was construction on both sides, Monday through Saturday, that woke us up early every day. Instead of seeing the beautiful serene Bogue Sound first thing in the morning, we saw construction guys all over the place who had no reservation about staring and cat calling me from the "privacy" of our backyard. The workers in one yard tore apart a pier and left all the pieces on the beach of our backyard and took their time having it removed. We called the rental company to let them know we were frustrated. We were promised a phone call back, but it never came. We might have considered renting a different house with Emerald Isle Realty next year- except for that sad fact.
The house itself was just okay. There was a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom, dead bugs everywhere and a general lack of attention to detail. For example, a new t.v. was purchased to replace the old one, but the old one was not removed. It sat like a behemoth behind the new one. We are not sticklers for "new things", but at some point, things like the 20 year old boombox just get amusing.
It seemed like a really good deal, but we realized under the circumstances, we might have preferred a hotel, where management might have taken our concerns more seriously.
When we checked out, no one asked about our stay and seemed in a hurry to get the keys back. However, they were fantastic when we checked in. They gave us ice cream.

The house is very nice and its in a beautiful location. We both enjoyed the room. Didn't really come here to look at television but even trying to look at the new was hard kept saying weak signal. And it could use a bigger bed as well. We already have planned in our trip next year. Thanks for everything

This cute house was conveniently located on the bay, within a quick walk to the ocean. Furniture is a bit beat down but spent most time out on the deck. Small charcoal grill was a bonus. Wish there were at least paper towels and dish soap provided, but other than that- no problems. Check in & check out were a breeze.

From other reviews I expected this place to be small-but for the price thought it a bargain. The pluses-location, deck on front overlooking sound, privacy from neighbors. The minuses-bathroom very tiny, especially shower(thank goodness for outdoor unit), old uncomforatable living room furniture, small tv with little or no cable access, rundown exterior and trash/brush in yard. We knew going down hurricane Irene had blown through 2 weeks prior, but were told by the real estate company everything was taken care of-inside yes/outside no. Very quiet area but would not return to this rental.

Unfortunately, the sound side of our island did take the brunt of Hurricane Irene - downed trees, missing docks, debris, etc. We have been fortunate to get this area cleaned up and restored but it did take some time. Thank you for your understanding. I am sorry, though, that this was not all cleaned up prior to your arrival.

The august Moon Teahouse is a cute, quaint little house that, although it is about the size of our small NYC apartment, was the perfect secluded spot for our honeymoon. Right on the sound and only about a block from the oceanfront, the view and location couldn't have been better and the sunsets were amazing. Although it has central aC (yippee!) we had perfect weather and enjoyed sleeping with both deck doors open to the calm sounds of the water. It was nice that the owner/other guests have left a wide variety of books for beach reading. The house is clean and comfortable (don't forget sheets and towels) and the only minor imperfection was that, like many beach houses we've been in, the ants liked our trash- make sure to bag it up each night. And bring bugspray! Otherwise a perfect stay and we were sad to leave! Will definitely return.

This past July my wife and I rented august Moon Teahouse for our stay on Emerald Isle. She is in love with the property and loves the location on the sound and privacy from neighboring homes. We both love that we need only walk less than one block to be on the ocean side--so the property really has the best of both worlds; sound and ocean. We would recommend the rental for any couple who value privacy, and who like sound or ocean recreation.

This cottage is quite charming although not plush. It suited our needs very well. We spent most of our time on the back deck enjoying the views or elsewhere in the area and very little time indoors. It had convient beach access. A birdwatchers delight. We would stay there again, we enjoyed the privacy and views of the sound from the back deck.

The home was clean, well equipped, had lots of character with a nice view. I would stay there again and recommend it to others. It would've been more convenient to have a pull out sofa (double) verses having to bring a blow up mattress. Good value for the rate.

We would probably consider staying again for a short visit. I'm accustomed to a larger bed and bigger shower/bath. It was a lovely location and we did enjoy our stay. The house was well stocked with cookware, dishes, etc. The washer and dryer were good.

August Moon is a great getaway for couples. It has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Sound access was ideal for our kayaks and the beach (across 58) is just a 5-minute walk.
Kitchen is small bur serviceable, with all the tools you need for cooking a great meal. We ate in 3 times, as the local seafood is so outstanding and easy to prepare.
You won't find a big-screen TV with 200 channels. But we don't go to the Outer Banks to watch TV. Why would you with such spectacular sunsets on the deck?
The price is right on this one. We'll be back.
If we have one criticism, it's the living room furniture. It's clean and well kept, but not terribly comfortable. Fortunately, we had no rain during our stay, so we didn't sit inside for long periods. -

August Moon is a well designed, cosy little Japanese bungalow with great views of the marsh from the both the living area & the bedroom. A short walk to the beach is real plus. Our only complaint was that the house seemed a bit shabby, The owners were aware & planned to replce the worn furniture in the living area & fix the blinds, but more needs to be done, both inside & to the outside decks & shower to make it the perfect 'honeymoon" cabin that it so easily can be. We provided some specifics to the EIR person to whom we returned the keys.

My husband selected this spot for our 25th wedding annv. We had a great time; very relaxing. Loved walking out the back to the sound; (a block from the beach). The only thing that could have made the week more enjoyable would be more comfortable living room furniture. Will book again!
