The giant roach

The house itself was nice. Beautiful views of ocean and sound, nice floor plan and plenty of room. I did have a small issue with no (I mean none) toilet paper in the house. I know we need to supply it but I expected a partial roll at least in one bathroom. There was also a lack of basic kitchen utensils (wood spoons, spatula, that kind of thing) and someone had used the grill as an ashtray. These were inconveniences but not the end of the world. The Deal breaker was the 7-8 inch roach walking on the ceiling over our bed!!! we had found and killed a few smaller ones but this thing belonged in a museum! If I had not been yelling for my husband to "get rid of it" I would have taken a picture for National Geographic. So, lovely views and decent price aside they did not tell us that there were giant roaches trying to take over the place.
Thank you for your review of your stay at Renny's Reward. I agree, this home does offer great views of both the Ocean and the sound and the floor plan maximizes the views as the common areas are on the top of the house.
I am so sorry to hear of the issue you experienced with bugs. Our properties are sprayed regularly to keep such pests at bay but due to our dense vegetation and humid climate, our area is prone to bugs like this. Please call to report such things and we'll happily schedule an exterminator to spray and alleviate the issue for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Renny's Reward!! It is a beautiful home and we will hopefully return in the years to come!

All in all, Rennys Reward was a nice beach house with great size and layout. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for a large family vacation. The proximity to the beach is perfect and there are some pre-existing beach toys that can be used. There are only two flaws to our experience. One, the deck is in pretty bad shape in some locations. This is pretty typical of houses that are near water but it needs to be looked at for safety reasons in my opinion. Two, there were a fair amount of roaches bugging us. Now, this may be a NC thing but it was still something that creeped out some people. In our entire week long stay, I personally saw about 8 medium sized roaches so we aren't talking a huge invasion just annoying. That said, the place is truly expansive and we had a great time there. I thought it was perfect for our needs. The interior is outdated but that's to be expected for a rental.
There may be fancier houses on the beach, but there are few that are as
vacation friendly as Renny's Reward.
The top floor is pure space with plenty of room for lounging, reading... Even
with a big group, you'll never feel crowded. Bedrooms are on 2nd level, & are
roomy & comfortable
The wrap around deck is great, find sun or shade all day, with view of the
ocean & the sound.
